I had light strikes and traced it down to a firing pin protrusion of just .028". Milspec protrusion range is .028"-.036". Being on the low end will result in light primers often enough to think something is wrong. If you have a micrometer, use the opposite end of it to measure the top of the bolt face to the bottom of the bolt face, then measure the tip of the protruding firing pin to the top of the bolt face, then subtract the two numbers and you'll have your firing pin protrusion measurement.

Same issue 4 days ago……. and I keep my AR pretty clean so was surprised I had a failure to fire. Great tip on the tool.👍🏻

Check hammer spring too. If you installed it backwards it will give you problems!

I bought an upper awhile back, all light primer strikes. Replaced with their newer bolt and enhanced firing pin, nothing. Replaced hammer spring with Wolf extra power, about 50/50 light strikes no matter what kind of Soviet ammo. Installed an h2 buffer and red Sprinco buffer spring, no change.. Bought a whole different upper from BCA and put all my innards in it (to keep it scientific), works great. That means the first upper was out of spec in the chamber causing the round to sit too far forward, preventing the pin from reaching the primer enough much of the time... Doesn't take much. Wonder if they'll let me return or replace the out of spec upper? (Posted several places in hope of helping someone else who may be in my same spot, gun Smith confirmed my thoughts)...

My bca upper got 50 rounds through it then it stopped firing, at first I thought maybe it’s just dirty but then again only 50 rounds through it. I checked the casings and the primer wasn’t even tapping it not even slightly. I assume my firing pin broke or something idk it’s my first ar and idk what to do lol. It’s a side charging so I can’t take it apart without a t25 Allen wrench so waiting on that to further inspect.

I wonder if that tool is also removing metal. There must be other ways of removing carbon from those critical surfaces. I wonder if brake cleaner will work along with cotton swabs.

Can a dirty rifle make the trigger not reset

I had failure to fire and replaced my firing pin with an enhanced firing pin and a Wolf XP strong springs for my trigger/hammer. I have an AR15 chambered in 7.62x39 and this allowed me to hit the berdan primer on the Russian ammo with enough force to fire the bullet.

If you are too aggressive in using the tool to try and scrape off carbon, you can have issues with your bolt. I don't use any metal tools to scrape off carbon, I just let it soak for a while and wipe away the carbon. Than I spray it with G96 Crud Buster and lubricate after it evaporates.

Going through this right now. Thousands of rounds no issues. Suddenly today, 15 failure to fire. Light strikes. Cleaning it out right now. Have not stripped the bcg to clean since I got it a year ish ago. Hopefully does the trick.
@deltatacticaltraininggroup76363 жыл бұрын
Have you removed the hammer assembly lately? If so, make sure you re-installed the hammer spring correctly. If you installed it backwards, it could be the cause of the light strikes! Good luck!

Man I would loved to have seen what that BCG looked like after a year and thousands of rounds. I run mine wet and after 150-200 rnds it looks like its covered in tar oil. If you find out what caused the light strike please share with us. Thanks!

Mine was brand new also. Replaced firing pin with an enhanced firing pin and Wolf XP springs for my trigger/hammer. This fixed my problem on my AR15 7.62x39 with the hard berdan primers on the Russian ammo. Good Luck. When in doubt call customer service of the maker of the gun. Mine is a Bear Creak Arsenal and they have very good customer service.
