AR 15 Tracers VS Block Wall

Here we celebrate Independence Day (July 4th) by revisiting the endeavor of chewing up a block wall, except this time with my vintage AR-15 A2 using 64 grain 5.56 X 45 tracers.
We also fire a few .45 ACP and 7.62X51 tracers before the festivities end!
The AR-15 is my old Colt A2 that I bought new in '84. It's a transitional A2 1X7 twist.. See previous videos on it.
Ammo is American Eagle 64-grain tracers. (XM856)
I was trying to spread the shots around on the wall, not shoot a group.

What I like about you Hickok is that you don't take yourself and your hobby too damn seriously, compared to some other gun enthusiasts out here on youtube. You seem to have fun rather than just trying to look cool. And that makes you...cool. P.S. Please be my uncle.

Back in 1970 I was a drill sergeant at fort Polk tiger land infantry AIT. I took my wife little brother 10 to a night m-60 range. They tell a story about Vietnam at the end they say the FPL is now in effect and 12 m-60 on tripods with 200 hundred round tracer all hammer down till empty in a criss cross final protective line pattern. My nephew stood mouth hung open as I had him about 20 yards behind the firing line. The range NCO was a good friend asked my nephew if he wanted to shoot an m-60 and initially he said no. They had one mounted on a table for demo and we talked him into it. We put about a 30 round belt in and he hammered down. He was quiet on the ride home but suddenly spoke up to ask how much one of the guns cost and could I buy him one. Great memory thanks for stirring it up,

You guys in the U.S are so lucky to still have the right to own these type of weapons. In Australia, we were robbed of that right because of knee jerk, cowardly politicians that have left once law abiding gunowners virtually defenceless! Happy Independence Day to you all in the land of the free!

That's got to be one of the scariest sounds, if you know what it is. Hearing gunfire freaks out a lot of folks who are afraid of guns, but doesn't bother a lot of others. But _that_ sound? That isn't just someone shooting, that's someone shooting _at you._

Something interesting happened to me a while back. I was shooting .22 LR tracers int a fence post, and one of the tracer rounds went into the post, leaving the glowing tail end spinning in the wood about 1/4" into the wood. The glowing section had separated from the lead portion and I was able to see it spinning in the wood while it was still glowing. That was a real surprise. Out of 5 rounds shot, only one did that but it sure was interesting.

@ricktaylor5744 2 жыл бұрын
Why was it spinning?
@thriftysurvivor6117
@thriftysurvivor6117 2 жыл бұрын
@@ricktaylor5744 Because bullets spin when shot out of rifled barrels and it was spinning because the tail end had broken loose from the lead portion of the bullet so it was able to continue spinning while the rest of the bullet either passed trough the fence post or was lodged in it.
