It's not that accurate. Realistically, the only difference is select fire between the military use versions and the ones we can buy at the gun store today. Full auto or burst has its value in certain situations but isn't like this magical mass slaughter switch. If you stick a hundred people in a tight space and full auto at them yeah, you're going to kill a lot of people but you could do the same amount of damage with a semi auto rifle too because the hundred people are trapped in a tight space. You could also throw a bomb in there and mess a lot of them up. It's the location that makes it possible to a lot of harm to a lot of people more than the tool itself. You can still buy AR-15 lowers that have select fire. They are just extremely expensive because they banned the sale of new models for sale for private ownership in 1986. It was effectively banned for the regular man in 1934 because a 200 dollar tax was like paying for a car back in those days. Select fire AR-15s and other machine guns these days are essentially rich people investments. People buy them to hold onto as appreciating assets. It's all a load of bullshit.

After purchasing the gun, you must fill out an ATF Form 4 application and wait for approval before taking possession of the firearm. The FBI conducts a thorough background check using fingerprints and a photograph required with your application, which could take 9 to 12 months to process. The gun will need to stay in possession of the previous owner until the process is complete. In addition, you will need to pay a $200 “NFA tax stamp” for each weapon transaction. If approved, you will receive your paperwork in the mail that includes a permit with the listed lawful possessor of the firearm. Only then can you take the machine gun home and possess it legally. The Federal Government denies The Vast Majority of these applications unless you Have an Extremely good reason.

I don't blame the guns at all. It's the people but I still welcome the fact that here in the UK guns are banned in the main. We had a school shooting and banned guns, we haven't had one since, banning guns works despite what you might want to think, my country is living proof. I understand that firing guns is fun and for the majority of people it's just a hobby, however I also understand that having grown up without guns I do not miss them. It's one of the millions of enjoyable pastimes I don't partake in, it only seems like a big deal because you enjoy it currently and it seems like something will be taken away. I get it but I also see that you would be better off in the long run, maybe 50 years from now by banning guns.

Close but not quite accurate... the report keeps saying "assault weapons" 1:27 -- as if that term has any defined meaning -- it does not. It is a epithet term created by the gun control lobby and Democrats to make a ban of any semi-automatic weapon with "forbidden features" more acceptable. They could not use the term "assault rifle" - because that has some meaning already with military weapons. Any semi-auto firearm (rifle, pistol, shotgun, etc.) falls under their "assault weapons" made-up terminology. Now fully automatic "Machine guns" (i.e. for "military and law enforcement only") firearms are essentially banned to civilians, though that too is an infringement upon the 2A which protects all bearable arms rights to the People -- not the government.

It was not completely correct. You can absolutely own a machine gun in the US. You need a machine gun license and to pay a tax. That’s it. Beyond that there are local laws and the Hughes Amendment to deal with but these just mirror other state infringements and make machine guns stupidly expensive. I even know people in states like Massachusetts who have machine gun licenses despite the fact that MA prohibits NFA items. Bruen will eventually fix all this and we will be able to buy new machine guns at reasonable prices again.

When I was a kid in the uk back in the 70's and 80's, loads of us had Swiss Army knives at school. Teachers never bothered because no one was ever stabbed or even threatened. Even the "rough kids" never used knives. If a fight broke out, it was ALWAYS just fists, never weapons, not even rocks. We didn't think of them as weapons, they were tools. We'd sit at break time, whittling sticks into tiny model boats, or use them to peel apples, cut string (and the shoe laces of anyone caught sleeping). Every kid I knew had one, and the ONLY time we got hurt, was when we cut ourselves and the teachers would tell us to be more careful! I even had a stiletto, not to stab people, but because it was a "cool" knife to have. "Hey, guys, look what I got".. " Wow, cool. Where did you buy that? How much was it"? Again, no one was ever hurt with it.

I tell millenials this from time to time and get skeptical looks. In the 70s when I was in grade school, practically every boy at school carried a pocket knife. It was expected for boys back then. Excellent Piece Its so refreshing to see a real news outlet doing a real story without lying to score political points. I haven’t seen this kind of honest reporting in decades (certainly not a firearms piece covered so fairly anyway). The only thing i see that could have been better was the fact that towards the end your showing an AK with a bump stock and appear to call it an AR-15 and there is no commentary about the bump stock. This is just an observation but has nothing to do with the fact that this was an honest, politically neutral, “actual news story” the likes of which we don’t see anymore. Literally the first time ive seen any news outlet say that 1) AR stands for armalight not assault rifle 2) ar15’s are not assault rifles 3) assault rifles are already illegal and have been since the 1930’s 4) 1/3 or more of American households have a gun in them 5) almost 100% of “mass shootings” are done with pistols (the exception being a few high profile cases that we all know about) almost all the rest are committed using pistols Good job guys!!! Much credit to this report for clarifying most of the gun control propaganda around the term "assault weapons" (in audio) or "assault rifle" (in title). Though "assault weapon" 1:27 -- does not have a clearly defined meaning as it changes based on each gun control law and is simply an epithet term created by the gun control lobby and Democrats to make it easier for non-informed citizens to accept a ban/confiscation of any/all semi-automatic firearms (i.e. rifle, pistol, shotgun) with "scary features" (e.g. pistol grip, muzzle device, detachable magazine, barrel shroud, etc). Gun grabbers could not use the term "assault rifle" - because that has some meaning already with military firearms. Now 0:43 fully automatic "Machine guns" (i.e. for "military and law enforcement only") firearms are essentially banned to civilians, though that too is an infringement upon the 2A which protects all bearable arms rights to the People -- not the government.

Armalite never made ARs for the commercial market and never made semi-auto restricted ones. Colt did that, 2 years after the Air Force had adopted the rifles. It was designed for military requirements, we have a fundemental right to keep and bear them anyways. And in fact, military arms are the most indisputably protected arms in the 2A.

The guy working at the gun store has the history off but has the right idea. The M16 came AFTER the AR-10 / AR-15. The original AR-15's (before the patent got sold to Colt) were full auto, and if memory serves me correctly were made for the air-force. Once the military decided to fully adopt the design later into Vietnam, they designated it as the M16.

Right, the only thing that gets me is that people will carelessly call a full auto, an assault weapon. It would be defined as an assault rifle nothing else. Same goes for full auto AK. Though it was pretty damn accurate and good reporting. Would have been better to have some stats that aren't cherry picked. The M-1, M-14 was like AT&T in the 50s and 60s, made to reach out and touch somebody. The M-16 was made because a. cheaper b. cheaper ammo c. shorter and easier to tote through the jungle. Wood stocks (M-14) not good in jungle + more expensive than plastic. Along came the M-4 for clearing buildings BUTT not that good for reaching out and touching. So what do you do you do? Train then GIs to shout one pew at a time? Time and more expensive ammo consuming or give them pew,pew,pew and pull the trigger again? Long guns require more training. Also better than a .223 for for hunting big game. But if you shoot for the between or in the eyeball a 22LR works just as well(also illegal for hunting deer). Don't forget that M-16 rifle came along at the same time as McNamara's morons and the need for a lot of fresh bodies to run through the jungle. Been there and had fun in Gulf #2. Got my 40 year letter in 2006. Qualified with M-14, M-16, M1911, M-79, M-60, M202, M72 LAW, M2 & M101. Fun to play with. Not fun to need.

Armalite originally developed the ar15 for civilians and it was not full auto. Their attempt to get the military interested saw them present the ar10 in full auto but the barrels were burning out. Springfield Armory stepped in and shit all over Armalite and subsequently sold the military on the m14. Colt bought the patents to both the ar10/15 and successfully sold the military on the m16. It's well documented on numerous sites including Armalites site.

The 2nd Amendment does not give us the Right to bear arms. The 2nd Amendment is a protection, telling the government hands off. The Right to bear arms is an Unalienable Right.
