Apollo is our 11-year-old, pure-bred Friesian he is a good horse for a beginner rider. He has a lovely collected canter and is a great farter. He is herd leader over Farouk who is a pure-bred Arabian horse, Farouk is 9 years old and loves galloping and is a good endurance horse. He is the Grandson of the famous Marwan Al Shaqab and then there is Princess Bella a Four-Year Old pure-bred Andalusian filly her speciality is bucking and jumping for joy.

Farouk was not too spooked but my anxiety levels rose a bit on the roads. Not too much slowing down going on! 🥴 Glad to see that the event is well marshalled though.🙂

Great start. Beautiful area. Farouk did well at the vetting as it was very noisy. I think he is feeling the general tension/excitement of the event, but nicely settled once on the road.

Farouk is his usual beautiful fit self. I have to say that the scenery is very pretty and what a treat for you to have a nice day for an endurance event. It seems there was often dull if not rainy weather on so many. Looking forward to the next installment.

I found myself holding my breath at the beginning. I thought those little fluttering white flags were going to be a problem but Farouk walked right on. So many cars so far. I hope that part is finished.

I’m really impressed that all that fluttering bunting in the parking lot doesn’t bother him! And the Welsh have done a superb job in providing proper security and way finding. No guessing where to go!

That highway is scary but Farouk was being so brave. I'm glad to see the crossing guards. That totem pole (?) at the trail start was interesting. 4:40

I' m amazed at how brave you two are. The landscape is different from what could be seen with videos of Farook so far, and to me (as an owner of a spooky Arab too) it appears dangerous with the dark passages where you cannot see the horizon and all the roads and traffic. Speaking to the persons on the way as you do also helps me with my spooky one, and being in motion forward forward helps too. You are doing an absolutely great job, Tara.

This event looks well organized with plenty of red flags and lot’s of people along the way.. However, riding along the busy roads makes me nervous! You and Farouk handled it well! I hope the course brings you into some farmlands where it is less dangerous and you can let Farouk have some nice long canters! Beautiful day and scenery, hope you enjoyed it! Farouk has ground-covering movement. Such a wonderful boy. Great riding Tara. What a dangerous beginning to have the marked trail beside such a busy highway. Cars and. trucks will cause accidents with horses. Did you know this was the case when you started the ride?

Farouk said I have a better idea, you look for sign posts so we don’t go wrong and I’ll worry about monsters as I am highly trained at spotting them, monsters are very clever and disguise themselves as everyday objects like a large stone, bin, and white objects of every size and shape.
