Farouk's mane looks gorgeous in these videos. It has really grown long and luxurious. You can tell he's looking down that long road stretch and is just raring to go. Those long legs of his are tingling with the excitement of the upcoming gallop. Oooh and what a nice one it was... he's a wind dancer for sure! Every time you rein him in he tosses his head as he is ready to GOOOO! He says give me an inch and i'll take a field!!!! hahaha.. Good to see him feeling so feisty even if he's being a bit naughty. Love that shadow... watching his legs move as well as what your camera catches. Whew what a lovely ride. giggles..; "No, stand still... no no no... we can stand here all day"... love it.

I just love how much you use your voice with him. Just talking to him in a slow and nice tone when he gets a bit too excited. I don’t own a horse I ride at a riding school in Sweden. I never once hear anyone in my group talk to their horse but I do it all the time. Especially when I ride this young speedy mare and I can really tell how much more relaxed and slow she gets when I talk to her and pet her. Really great. She actually slows down more when I loosen the reins to pet her than when I pull. Lovely to see your connection with your horses!

My thoroughbred was testy when I first got her and eventually the dairy farm near by gave me 4 huge fields (with the gates left open) to use for a few months to be able to work with her after she bolted terribly with me. Every time she bolted I had the 4 fields to push her even when she wanted to stop. Sounds harsh but she got away with it by her previous owner so eventually I had to keep pushing her to teach her to only gallop when I ask and stop when I ask. Love how you stay so calm with your horses and you don’t just accept when they have a naughty moment. Too many riders get scared when their horses bolt and rather just not ride that pace again instead of teaching their horse what’s acceptable which then makes for a very difficult horse down the line for the next owner (if it comes to that).

They need a tough workout sometimes. For someone to be ' oh you think you are fit do you'? I think with farouk its because he wasn't used to riding after winter time off. They go a bit wild again.

I agree having owned thoroughbreds in my youth and galloped racehorses. They love to gallop and such breeds should be galloped regularly in a wide open space to keep them happy. Any funny business with the brakes push them onward until they start to tire then ask for the slow down they soon learn to be obedient always keep in mind it takes a lot of space for a thoroughbred to slow down rather like a human sprinter, they have to wind down from a full gallop before stopping. Farouk reminds me of a racehorse he sure does have some speed one can see why thoroughbreds have the Arabian as an ancestor!

Leons Lioness NZ my main issue with my mare was that her previous owner rode her maybe twice a year, and then her family used to hop on for “joy rides” when they visited her. If she bolted with anyone they would freak out, and get off immediately after they managed to yank her to a halt. Basically rewarding the behavior. It took about 6 months of daily work to get her to steady up and respond because she was just a trail horse and I needed a reliable horse out on trail. Once she started responding correctly to seat and voice commands, I was the only person to ride her after that cause I didn’t want to risk anyone messing up my hard work. Especially after I had already broken my back falling from a different horse. She turned out my best horse.

True haha one of the Arab mares at my riding school is also my mounted archery horse and she has so much energy she's galloped before being ridden to let off some steam, then she can still keep galloping for 3 hours and shows little signs of fatigue afterwards, it's quite funny (though she's still monitored so she doesn't overdo it. Still, we wonder where such a small mare stocks all her energy hahaha)

worst thing you can do is grab the horn in a western saddle when you're going fast. That's a good way to come off. You should rely on you seat and your balance. You'll never see a real western rider, a cowboy, grabbing the horn.

I once had a crazy accident with my horse. while we went for a canter on a field , just like your video, we stepped into a hole. My mare and I did a flip, and i cant canter while going on rides anymore because i started to feel super scared. I really miss this feeling. your videos make me relive some of those good times 🥰

He just loves to run and he is not keen on having to listen to someone saying "slower" … You, Tara, have nerves of steel. Of course, I realize you know Farouk, you know the fields you are running in & you are a great rider … but for me, it is thrilling just to watch from your head cam. Farouk is very beautiful - and he is simply all get up and go. I remember how much work the horses were - of course as a kid, it was all fun and games, but my dad was the one really busy with them. It will be interesting to see him get ready for all the eventing this summer. I hope you take Apollo out to some events, too. I seem to expect that he is a bit more predictable than Farouk, though I am sure he is ready to go too. Thank you for that great video!

My favorite horses to ride are definitely Arabians and of course the Tennessee walker. Arabians are so beautiful, so energetic and sooo fast! 😊 There was an Arabian cross that I was training that everyone else was afraid to work with and ride. When I got to her, I could see why. I worked with her and then was able to ride her. It was so exhilarating. She reminded me of me. Lol.

Such a cheeky boy, when asking him for something give him a chance to actually do it before asking again and again, also don't ask him too many things at once like slow, head down, stand still etc I used to do the same but once I stopped talking and using my seat and leg etc it was more effective than having to yell to get him to hear you :)

You don’t have to give Farouk much encouragement before he takes off, and then he has a hard time slowing down. He is so interesting to watch. His ears are always twitching back and forth so he doesn’t miss much.. He seems to be very intelligent. I think I missed the one when you were talking about shoeing a horse. Love your use of voice I didn't use that aid would now. But I was taught to think of the reins as a piece if cotton and never jerk, twist or yank good advice, but sometimes I would forget and use them. Nowadays, we know so much more about the actions of bits on the horse and care is required. Ever the “ kindest gentleness “ bit hurts the whole horse

My horse does the same thing but a little worse do you have any tips for a horse that just gets kind of out of control when it’s time to gallop and when you do go into the gallop there all over the place and swerving? I don’t know maybe something is up with my horse I’ve been trying to work threw it with him but he keeps doing it and it’s getting to the point where it’s to dangerous to even gallop unless it’s in a wide open field. And it’s also like he’s getting attached to certain areas and pulling tjere even if it’s a bush or a tree. He is an albino horse maybe some of it has to do with vision?? And maybe the bit?? He’s very hard mouthed aswell. Maybe someone could give me tips or something.

Arabs often have low upper pallets & single-jointed snaffles poke them when stopping, causing head tosses & high noses. I don’t remember what kind of snaffle you use but I strongly recommend a double-jointed one. Beautiful ride!!
