I have 1 spider in my house that's apparently immortal cuz for like 19-ish years I've seen this spider either chilling, scaring my gf or eating annoying AF nats and flies. My gf stepped on it on accident and we thought it was dead for sure but nope. He's fine. We called it quits and decided to let him live. He's been annoying lately cuz his webs are everywhere. When I was watching this video on my TV, Chase (his name is Chase) came down, stuck to the corner of the screen and watched the entire thing with us. Spiders like Spider movies apparently... But not Spiderman movies.

Even as someone who isn't as spooked by arachnids, this movie still makes my skin feel itchy and tingly. I mean, I live with wolf spiders that can spread their legs out into a 2-3 inch diameter circle and they do funny things when they get scared. If they sense you nearby they will hug the ground like a grenade landed nearby, then if you step too close they spring up in a feeble hop to get away from you. It's the funniest thing to watch as they hop and skip in a desperate attempt to flee like the floor is lava. It's only if you scare them for too long they stop and face you with their arms up in the air as if in surrender. That's them being defensive; they don't chase you. I think I got a video of that, I should upload it sometime. That aside, we can all agree that pets getting killed in movies are a huge no-no. The spiders in the movie are indeed Huntsman spiders, and they are nonvenomous if it helps. Sure they got a big bite, but 90% of the time it's if you're dumb enough to hold it in your hand with a good grip.

I'm only at the 2:11 mark of the video, and I already have tears in my eyes from laughing. Fellow arachnophobe here, who thought she could cure her arachnophobia at age 19 by watching this movie in a theater when it came out in 1990. Ironically, it helped quite a bit. The town's college men's baseball team all went to the same show I did, and they sat several rows in front of me. When I saw all these 6'2"+ dudes screaming, ducking down in their seats and covering their faces with their baseball caps, I realized how scary spiders were to everyone, not just to me. Having said that, if I lived in Australia instead of the US, and I had a spider as big as the one in your house, I'd have a f***ing heart attack. That was practically a tarantula. Loved the comparison of daddy long legs to Chris Evans!

My favorite part of spiders are the orb woven webs when water droplets go on then they look so pretty at night. Also fun fact some spiders mainly Tarantulas and jumping spiders have the equivalent of paws/paw pads. There is also a type of spider(Tarantula) that has a small frog companion to help keep its eggs and babies safe while the spider helps protect the frog. They use chemicals so the spider doesn't attack the frog. Just some facts to help decrease your fear a tiny bit even if its a very small amount.

In a zoo once, I had the glorious honor of holding a spider in the reptile/bug exhibit. The spider in this story happened to be a Goliath Birdeater, if I recall the biggest spider on this planet. It was brown, hairy, black fangs and barely fit in my hand (and I have big hands 0_0). As a zoo keeper was telling something about where they live, what they eat and yadayada, the spider was moving over my hand towards my sleeve and I could not move. I was frozen. Tears run down my cheeks. Guy keeps talking, as I'm standing there. Now I know that Birdeaters are actually pretty docile (if not provoked of course), just like Tarantulas and other big spiders. When threatened they aim the hairs on their lower abdomen towards you which stings pretty awfull. If you still don't back off, they will bite. Not poisonous to humans but nasty and painfull. The guy that died at the beginning clearly had heart failure and muscle cramps. This seems the closest to the bite of a Huntsman. Their bites are the very few that are fatal to humans (not all Huntsmen are, there are several species). First you get a stone hard boner (yup, true) that won't go away. Later on it will result in heart failure. 'A 1000 ways to die' had an episode on this, where a young man bought bananas and a stoaway huntsman bit him.

Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line two baking sheets with parchment. Cream the butter and sugars together until very light and fluffy, then beat in the egg and vanilla. Once combined, stir in the flour, bicarb, chocolate and ¼ tsp salt. STEP 2 Scoop 10 large tbsps of the mixture onto the trays, leaving enough space between each to allow for spreading. Bake for 10-12 mins or until firm at the edges but still soft in the middle - they will harden a little as they cool. Leave to cool on the tray for a few mins before eating warm, or transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Will keep for three days in an airtight container.

Quick and easy, not much to it really. 1 stick(110 grams) of butter. You can use margarine, shortening, salted, or unsalted butter. It's up to your tastes, or whatever you have on hand. 1 cup(225 grams) of sugar. If you want a crispier cookie, use white sugar. If you want a softer one, use brown sugar. 1 large egg 1 1/8 cup(253 grams) of flour. You can use all purpose, self-rising, or bread flour. 1 cup(225 grams) of whatever chocolate chips you like. Preheat oven to 350°f(177°C). Mix the butter and sugar together until they're thoroughly combined. Then add the egg and mix until it's incorporated. Then stir in the flour and the chocolate chips until you've got an even and consistent mix. Scoop the mixture onto a cookie sheet with a parchment liner using a tablespoon, and place them about 2 inches apart. Then just bake at 350°f(177°C) until just lightly browned on the edges, 7-9 minutes or so, depending on how big your scoops are and your oven. If you put huge heaping tablespoons down, could take 15 minutes, so it's variable. Watch and pull them when they they start to brown around the sides. Pull the tray and let them rest on the tray out of the oven for a couple of minutes, then transfer them over to a wire rack to cool. Good to go.

Some genius thought this movie was too much of a comedy as well and decided it needed a modern remake. I don’t know the details but I “think” it’s going to be a Stephen King project. This movie I can handle, but a Stephen King remake you couldn’t pay me to watch, ever.

You’ll be happy to know they used over 800 real spiders of various species and all the spiders survived. They moved the spiders orders around with air pumps and power dusting.

I had to build up to this one. As a fellow arachnophobe, I really appreciated having someone be on the verge of a panic attack with me through this film. Thanks Alex!!!

I love spiders so much, I once found a black widow at my pool and tried to hold em (they went behind one of the pool straps so I didn't bother em anymore, knowing how deadly they are xdd)

They actually used a type of new Zealand spider, not huntsman! They're a harmless species, I forget how many they used in the film. Loved your reaction, sorry for all the scares. I'm the same way about giant grasshoppers lol scary.

After watching this movie as a teen I literally checked the toilet for spiders for a solid 2 1/2 years, unfortunately shower spider is more common than toilet spider. Nothing like taking a shower and almost killing yourself trying to escape a spider that decided your shower was the perfect summer home location

Equal parts brown sugar and butter in a pot on medium heat. Gently boil for 3 min then pour onto a plate and sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Then cut when cool. You’ve made chocolate covered toffee. Yummy!

As a fellow arachnophob I can sympathise, like I’m not one of this people that go “ah there’s a spider” I get paralysed with fear and I start shaking and panicking it’s fucked Also the fact that these spiders could take over the world is terrifying

They filmed some scenes for this movie real close to where my grandparents lived. They let them and all the neighbors know that there was a production going on and not to worry about any escaped spiders.

Why did I do this to myself? I hated this the one time I watched it, it made my fucking skin crawl. I guess I just love your reactions enough to re-traumatize myself. Great reaction dude! Glad we suffered together. Edit: It's the way I said "Batter up!" at the same time you said "Home Run!" Lmao

Fun Fact Black widow bites aren't all as lethal as they've been said to be. Usually, the bites are only lethal to people who have been or are in poor health.
