So the snow globe is just Krampus keeping an eye on them after giving them a second chance. Just like how Santa watches us when we sleep and are awake, etc. Had he not given them a second chance he would have killed the family and let the kid live to teach him a lesson like he let the Grandma live to teach her a lesson.

Just to let you know, they are not stuck in the snow globe. The movie plays out like a twisted version of A Christmas Carol. There are hints throughout the film. The biggest is the movie playing.

It wasnt one family that brought this on. It was society, which is why they showed you the Christmas shopping at the beginning. I always assumed that they are stuck in purgatory. They are indeed dead but stuck in a snow globe.
