I can confirm these findings, especially the chalk retention on the cue ball. It’s god awful. But I’ve been playing them for about 10 months now and no print has worn off. All in all they did what I needed- I went over budget on my table and they got me through until I could upgrade.

Thank you for your comment, and agree completely. They are decent balls at the price point (you'll likley not find better at this price as all other budget balls will be poly resin and not phenolic), but are not perfect. The Aramith Crown's are worth the extra stretch in cost if you can justify it. I've always considered purchasing these. I always loved the color scheme, but was always concerned with them not being up to proper spec and it effecting my play with their higher grade sets. I'm glad you did this video. I really wish that they would make a high grade version of this ball set with this classic design. Looks so good! It would also be awesome to see your honest comparison of a high grade Aramith vs the Brunswick Continental ball set. Also the McDermott Galaxy ball set would be cool to see!

Glad that you found the video helpful! Yes, these do have a pretty cool retro-look to them. As covered in the video, at the price they are really the only phenolic resin option out there and so should out-perform anything in this price bracket. However, their other sets do offer better performance overall, and the Crown set is ideal if you can stretch the budget that little bit further. We're working on a review currently for the Super Aramith Pro set, which is made from the same resin that Aramith use to produce the Brunswick Centennial sets, so they should be VERY similar. That said, we would also like to get a set of the Centennial's in for review to be able to verify that. I've heard some decent comments on the Japer Bees Deluxe series. But that said they are still a poly resin compared to the phenolic resin of the Aramith's. Also, the Japer Bees Deluxe Superiors I believe are slightly more expensive than this set, perhaps closer in price to the Aramith Crown Standards? Also the Crown's do not have the issue covered in this video with the printed numbers. We'd definitely like to run a review on Japer Bee balls in the future, it would be good to see how well their poly resin compares to phenolic. Yes, I have seen these identical balls available in plain white boxes (in Europe from memory?) called Aramith Economic. The size was also identical). Nobody expects experienced players to buy the cheapest. It’s purely a marketing strategy. Aramith is an aspirational brand with most ball sets priced well beyond what a new player will spend. They only offer this cheap set hoping beginners will either upgrade their initial purchase or down the road buy a second pricier set. This set is not intended to be a big seller. They need to offer something in the starter set price range to get the new players onto their brand.

Yes, there are definitely compromises when it comes to the Continental's. But the key to this set: they are the cheapest phenolic resin ball set currently available. But, as covered in the video, not in the same league as Aramith's Crown set which is the next set up in Aramith range price-wise. Hope that helps! 👍
