Well if it made even one small hole or rip then you would have to run somewhere else as it would be able to get through and keep getting through more and more plus the size of them would hurt so much. I've had a bit of hail hit me in the side of my ear when I had ear buds in was a pretty small bit but sounded like a gunshot

I woke up one night to a hailstorm hitting my windows and I thought the world was ending for a good 10 seconds. I started to reach for a gun and realized whatever was making that much noise couldn't be stopped with just a gun. Then I remembered it was supposed to storm and it was probably not a zombie invasion banging on my windows.

I would tuck your tarp into the tent more, so it does not collect rain or water under the tent next time. Also, I would use a second tarp as extra cover on top of your rent so the hail doesn’t tear through it. Looks gross, but you carried a tarp so odds are, you have a second one and could bring/use it.

Hail isn't usually cold its created by the clouds and sky being super cold but the ground area is warm. That's why they become circular. Just trust me I'm not explaining it.

We had 3 inch hail about a year ago. Turned into a complete whiteout it was coming down so hard and fast. Every vehicle in my apartments got damaged. I even threw heavy moving blankets over my truck and it still put dents all over the roof and hood. Lot of cars and apartments had shattered windows and torn screens cause it was almost comjng sideways. Craziest hail storm ive ever been in. I would have hated to be in a tent throigh that

We were caught hiking about 100 yards from our tents and hail like this (dime sized) began. we ran and got inside the old canvas tents and were OK, but we all had sore spots from being hit. IT REALLY HURTS!

I'd worry about her car, not the tent. The tent is flexible, like a trampoline. Hail just bounces off. Her car has a glass windshield and lots of sheet steel. Ouch.
