Did Paimon seriously just lampshade "bromance"? And that's why F this game. It's writing is atrocious. Why is all anime writing so abysmal nearly all the time? Itto was good but everything else is horrible. Thoma sounds like some youtuber whiteboy talking about old games or some crap. With overly stuffy inorganic anime writing per the usual. I just realized that Itto acts like Sokka so that's fun.
@letslegacy2 жыл бұрын
Heyy, so... Why do you think all anime writing is bad? I genuingly wanna know what made you think that
@normalguycap2 жыл бұрын
You ask a fair question and I appreciate how you asked it. It humbled me. I hope my answer doesn't sound too weird, but it's the honest truth. It's because of how old I am. I've consumed enough manga and anime as well as other media of all types (debates, plays, performances, video games, movies, music, books, articles, news, both fiction and nonfiction) from all over the globe combined with my own formal education, informal experience, and successes and failures with creative outlets (like writing) for myself and for others. My background and passions and professions all involve analysis, evaluation, judgment. I'm profoundly interested in psychology and philosophy. I participate in the bad and the good and try to learn, create, improve others' and my own things as often as I can. It's just who I am really. I'm deeply interested and concerned about these things for my own enjoyment and how it affects people. I have been that way all my life and, not for nothing, but I've won some minor accolades here and there, so there is at least some external validation from others both informal and professional. All of this swirls around, practically indistinguishable at the point, and coalesces into my opinion. Sheeeyit, all that hot air I just wrote means I feel I've experienced and studied and created enough to know the difference between good and bad writing. It just so happens that the majority of anime and manga falls into the bad category. I'm sorry for all of that, but your question made me realize I had to concretize it for myself because what I said before was a gut reaction. But your question does force me to admit, I was slightly hyperbolic. Good writing has indeed existed in manga and anime; it's just never in the mainstream and is usually older. It's hard to find and kinda rare honestly. The writing in Genshin Impact that I have seen (I've long stopped playing myself) has the same old, cliche topics, speeches, even phrases as tons of generic anime/manga. They are inorganic, as if written by a stuffy or formal robot. Or a person who doesn't often talk to real people. It's why Itto is actually refreshing because he has personality and emotion both in his delivery and most of his word choices. Word choice matters immensely. It's truly the difference between going, "oh, okay. message received." and a lightning bolt striking your brain. I keep two different translations of the All-For-One fight vs All-Might in My Hero Academia for this reason, to remind me. One enhances it to a higher level that the other seems boring in comparison while they still essentially communicate the same thing. Any good teacher or author will tell you to "write for the ear". These characters in Genshin often sound like a formal college essay.
@normalguycap2 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, I forgot about stand up comedy! If anything teaches you how to speak or engage an audience, it's that! Watch/Listen to a lot of that!
@letslegacy2 жыл бұрын
@@normalguycap Thanks for calrifying your point, I can see and I respect your argument, you're definetly older than me and I must that it's an honor to speak to someone of your experience. I don't know much about the world of manga and anime, so don't mind if what I say may sound disrespective to your opinion, I agree that there are a lot of empty and bad media when it comes to eastern media, the only anime that I genuingly disliked was Sword Art Online. Though it's true that the majority of "good" anime is rather old and/or relatively unknown, I still think there are a lot of beautiful stories and characters being created today that are becoming or already are mainstream, like for example: A Silent voice. It's not incredibly recent, since it's been around for some years, but it's truly a work of art and it's amazing to see so many like me feeling a connection to these characters. Another anime that it's more recent and equally touching is Violet Evergarden, I deeply connect with Violet, of course, I wasn't treated as a weapon, but being used by people around you and not understanding and not being able to connect with people because of it is a real experience for me, I learned with Violet Evergarden and because of it, I wanted to understand and be there for people, it's one of my favorite anime's along with A Silent Voice, though again, you definetly know more than me so please don't take anything here as any form of attack or disrespect, I'm just genuingly trying to add more to the conversation. As for Genshin Impact... I agree that there are moments of bad writing and cliches, but I think you can agree that cliches can be done exceptionally well when written by competent writers. I love genshin's characters because of their stories and personalitys, for example, Diluc seems like the batman character, he's cold, rich and has trauma from his parent's death, but he's so much more than this, he's actually warm and caring, but due to having to kill his own father and seeing his brother having the desire to end Mondstadt truly changed him, he's reserved and doesn't open up to anyone, he's a child that never got to grow up in decent time. Ayato is similar, thoguh through a different way, his dad was assassinated trying to protect Inazuma's history, his mother also died leaving him and an even younger Ayaka to raise their clan from ashes. Ayato got used by many adults hungry for power, wanting to control the child who had been severely traumatized. Ayato saw as his mission to defend Inazuma like his father, to protect the land and the people he loved, he learned those manipulating adult's tactics, he studied and trained everyday to become the leader that no one would dare to overthrow, all so his sister wasn't alone, the same way he felt when he became the comissioner. I truly love the stories in this game, not all of them are good, not all of them are bad, but they're all stories, and to me they're amazing. I'm grateful to see your perspective, and I hope we can both share our opinions without conflict. And sorry if my english isn't the best, it isn't my first language.
@letslegacy2 жыл бұрын
@@normalguycap Oh! I do like standup! Though I only watch brazillian standup, since it's my language. I have to admit... I really don't like north american standup, it feels bland and boring, to me brazillian comedy it's the best since it isn't just cuss words or personal stories, it's something that connects people of that country, it's full of empathy and shared experiences. It's just my opinion though, different continents have different humors and that's fine by me
