all the fights in a nutshell: Knuckles- Very easy to beat, as he has a delay before attacking you, so you can't lose unless you make him win. Amy- Once she loses her shields, she can't do much to you but counter. Bark- Strong but slow, do not hit his shields without breaking them, or he will triple combo you to death. Espio- Will counter anything you throw at him, no matter what you do, stay alert and strike fast! Tails- He will guard, then counter with a grab... also he can spin dash, so do not get too close for too long, or you'll be grabbed! Fang- Quite inconsistent, he may shield your attacks, he may shoot, he may counter, he is very unpredictable, stay focused. Bean- A prime example to not abuse the shields, make sure you dodge his bombs, and strike while he throws them. Sonic- he isn't the 8th stage for nothing... he is very fast and is hard to counter, so make sure you are prepared to fight him. Metal Sonic- Using many powerful strikes, counters and projectiles, this fight is the hardest without super sonic. Eggman- Though losing to him doesn't matter as it's a bonus... he is as easy as knuckles... but he can fight back HARD! So yeah, from my experience, that is how the game goes for me!

When I was a kid, I couldn’t even beat espio and metal sonic. But now is peanuts. The most enjoyable fights for me were bean cause I used to play as him a lot and bean vs bean was funny tho. The other is metal sonic just because it was challenging.

I always liked the graphics in this game. I admire that the developers chose to accentuate the polygonal quality of the character models; some games of this era went heavy on the texture mapping to provide a realistic look that was still a generation or two off.

Long before Jet The Hawk, you had Bean... I somehow like this game. The 3D Quality of the models is amazing, considering it used Quad Polygons that SEGA and nVIDIA wanted to push back then. I think it should be remade, using all the characters in the Sonic Universe. That'd make a fun thing to play.

On the ps3 and xbox360 version of sonic fighters metal sonic,honey the cat, and eggman are secret characters heres how to play as them( btw can't be them in arcade mode) Metal sonic: go to sonic and press start and to change back to sonic press start again. Honey the cat: same thing but press start on amy Eggman: same thing as well but press start on bean. Enjoy your secret characters!

ClassicSonicSatAm it's cool looking, it's just that it's an extremely limited and boring fighting game. Hitting kick kick kick gets repetitive after a while, and there's no move diversity amongst the fighters you can select from. When you consider that this came after games like Tekken, it really shows that it's a POS. I remember when this game dropped, and it was labeled as one of the worst fighting games to drop at that time. The main complaint was the gameplay, although the graphics were also quite buggy as well. It's like they tried to make a Sonic skinned Virtua Fighter, which was a limited game to begin with, and Sonic Fighters is even more limited.

matt molloy Dunno, it's about the same as Fighting Vipers (which this game was based on, Hench why Sonic was hidden in it, and Honey was hidden in this.) or Tekken ( I played the 3rd game latey in my local arcade and it only need a few punches and kicks, no special moves.) I will say like Sonic, this game can be a fast fighter. XD one cool thing unlike most fighters, if you beat the game without losing once and as playing Sonic up to the 2nd fight with Metal Sonic, you get Super Sonic, maybe the only fighter arcade game that rewards you in-game for being good at it, and unless you know the moves (there some good ones if you try them) you won't make it (like this guy in the video) so it has that going for it, should of made another and expanded on it. :)

ClassicSonicSatAm are you sure you played Tekken 3? That game actually has a great amount of special moves, combos, awesome hidden characters, etc. and was a pivotal game for the series that cemented its place as the top tier of fighting games. I actually grew up on all of those 90's 32 bit fighting franchises, and I have nostalgia for Sonic The Fighters and other games like it. However, Tekken was the leader of the pack when it came to the advent of 3D fighters back then, and unfortunately the Sega AM studio couldn't create a competitor that was on par with it.

It's been a long time since last time I put Sonic Gems Collection on my PS2 & played this game. This wasn't a bad game. I was having fun with this. It's not the most advance fighting game there is, but sometimes you want to play something simple & fun. I also like the idea of fighting game with Sonic characters. SEGA!
