My “hasn’t failed me yet” plan for the first two stages was just keep jumping and concentrating on Donkey Kong. Once I got the super spray it would last long enough on the second stage for an almost effortless guarantee of making it to the third stage. After that it was maybe two or three stages before game over. I loved arcade games but I wasn’t very good at most of them. Still had a lot of fun though.

This game tends to get a bunch of hate, but I've always really liked this game. The change into a DK style shooter, the music (especially the catchy jingle at 0:55, everything overall to me is awesome. And while kind of weird Mario wasn't in this game, I like Stanley. He gives the game it's own unique style and feel that Mario wouldn't have had he been in it instead.

I feel like people give this game a lot of unnecessary shit for no reason. The game’s not perfect, but far from bad. It’s like a shoot em up with some platforming. This was also before Mario and DK became big franchises so it’s not odd to try out new things and sometimes it doesn’t stick in this case.

The arcade version is so much more impressive than the NES version. I wonder why. It’s not like the NES couldn’t handle the graphics.

Arcade has much powerful hardware and software than NES. The NES , while impressive at the time for a home console. is still not powerful enough to to replicate exactly like the original Arcade version in these ports. It's worth noting that Arcade machines are dedicated to a single game made for it. So it has more RAM and other advantages to give better software for the game. NES on the other hand, is a console that has to deal with multiple games from different cartridges and is a home console. So there's limitation at the time to consider.

Geez, that game was broken. I played Scottsman, K'nuckles, Toiletnater and a little bit of Vilgax. The hitboxes on some of the moves were insane. I had a buddy who played Aku and abused his shorthop laser. Jack and Him were a pain, but I believe some circles found Blossom to be the biggest issue. I miss that game.
