Was the second one on a Tiger electronic handheld? All jokes aside it’s after burner no?

It's a good candidate for the R-Zone.

@@RetroComparisons Ah yes. Tiger Electronics were like "How can we make these games worse? We get people to strap them to their heads and get migraines from them!"

Nice comparison. I'd go arcade here, the MS version looks like fun but slower ive noticed. Still if you dont live near an arcade with this game I'm sure the MS version would get the job done.
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
Thanks buddy! The arcade version was quite a beast because even the Saturn had trouble getting this game right. The SMS port is pretty fun for a much scaled down version but it doesn't come close to replicating the original.

@@RetroComparisons Ah I see. Oh wow thats kind of nutty how even the Saturn struggled getting close to it? 😲Interesting Info dude! That's wild lol. 👍🏼

@@MKF30 No probs buddy. Haha yeah I didn't think this would be a game that even pushed the Saturn.

Galaxy Force was insanely difficult to do a good home port of. They didn't even get it quite right on the Saturn. I don't think it was until the 3DS that we saw a proper 1-to-1 home conversion of this game. Needless the say the SMS is WAY out of its league.
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
I couldn't agree more. The Saturn couldn't quite replicate it and the Genesis sure as hell couldn't so the SMS stood no chance.

Always confused about this one Was there ever a galaxy force 1 in the arcades?
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
Supposedly it was out in arcades for 2 months before Galaxy Force 2 replaced it. It bugged the hell out of me to have to use Galaxy Force 2 footage on this one but they're basically the same game. Here's an excerpt from Segaretro: As explained below, Galaxy Force is extraordinarily rare: the only known sightings of the game period are from 1988 video captures for its promotional videos later used for Sega Taikan Special, and a MAMEWorld thread from 2014 detailing the only known surviving board known to exist.

Galaxy Force is already not my favorite super scaler game (though the super deluxe cab was cool and the 3DS port is cool...but, the game itself is meh for me). The SMS version here tries, but it's just way too much for the hardware. There's a point where framerate is a true detriment to fun, and they may have passed it here with the Master System port. The arcade wins, but give me Afterburner or Space Harrier any day over Galaxy Force.
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
I totally agree, this is not near the top of my list of favorites from the same genre or hardware. Afterburner and Space Harrier are way better and more fun IMO. Having said that, the arcade just blows away the SMS which isn't much of a surprise considering the Genesis couldn't handle this game either.

This is one badass arcade game in every way possible. This is a tough comparison although for an 8bit system that does not specialize in super scaling, it isn't too bad. Winner: By landslide - Arcade There is no doubt I would have loved playing this game on the SMS and would have traded blows with R-Type as my fav shmup on the system. A fun game fo sho, it just needs arcade game play to fully enjoy it being as badass as you are Bill!!!
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
You are too kind my friend! Yeah this one isn't even close but considering the Genesis couldn't even come close on this one the SMS stood no chance. Having said that, it's pretty fun in its own right.

I. Know , this sounds like a bold claim but Arcade was a bit closer to PANASONIC 3DO, Which? I still believe is the most powerful cd-rom unit in the world!!!!
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
The 3DO is super cool. I'm actually doing some videos on it next year which will be a ton of fun.

The Master System was not meant to compete with arcade machines. This version must be compared with the 8-Bit micros and even with the Atari ST and Amiga. And in this case the Master System comes out well.
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
Despite not being able to compete with the arcade original it's still a fun port regardless. This is part of a series where I'm seeing how every SMS game compares to the arcade original. There have been some so far that held up really well.

The sms version was pretty good and it was better than the megadrive version
