The winner is... all of us! For getting to play Klax again twice!

Lol! I'm starting to dream about Klax at this point. I do a video covering the 2600, Klax is there. I do a video on the Game Gear, Game Boy, and Lynx, Klax is there. Even my short video on the freaking Amstrad GX4000.

The one that loses in this comparison is me. lol

So last night I finished the list for a SMS vs SNES video since that will be a quick one to do and I was so happy that for once Klax won't be featured. Then I woke up today and saw this video dropped which I completely forgot about since I upload these months in advance and I realized I'm cursed. We both lose with this one my friend.

I know a lot of people hate this game. But I have to admit I find it kind of charming in small doses. Everything from the "it's the 90s" intro to the sound effects is filled with nostalgia for me. But after a couple of rounds/levels I've had my fix and it's time to move on until next time.
@RetroComparisons26 күн бұрын
This does scream 1991 with the box art, colors, etc. While I don't outright hate this game I think I've now played it on like 15 different consoles/handhelds/arcade so I've become quite tired of it.

I think you know where I am going with this video. Klack klack klack klack klack doop. Winner: Arcade for the better sounding Klack doops. Bout all I can say for this game since I do not like it at all.. lol. Nice job putting up with this one and also doing a good job with these kind of games!

Lol thanks buddy! I swear this game has more ports than Doom. The questions should always be "will it run Klax?".

I got the Japanese version on Megadrive one Christmas. I think there are actually 2 versions for Megadrive/Genesis.
@RetroComparisons26 күн бұрын
Yeah it's strange that the Japanese version is completely different. That didn't happen too often.

@@RetroComparisons Marble Madness on Genesis/Mega drive, Klax on Gameboy, plus Rainbow Islands, Fantasy Zone, Tetris, and Maniac Mansion on NES/Famicom. I'm sure there are others, but those are what immediately springs to mind. Some games, like Afterburner I-II on NES/Famicom, share too much DNA to be considered separate ports. Also, nobody will ever top two different C64 ports of Streetfighter 1 sold together.
@RetroComparisons25 күн бұрын
@@juststatedtheobvious9633 Lol I've never heard about that with the C64 SF1 ports. I've got to look that up.

There's something so great about this era in gaming that was special. No need for hours of installing a game, micro transactions, etc. You just put in the cartridge and start playing.

The same soundchip as the Colecovision, WonderSwan, and so many home computers, as programmed by a PC speaker imitating a mosquito buzzing in and out of your ear. It really sums up what Tiertex was all about with this Master System port. Also, Tiertex clearly wanted to rebel against conventional standards of beauty, and so they freed their palette to embrace soft pastels, and bold primaries, and bright florescent, and dull greys...all side by side! These colors never even met each other until the computer RNG assigned lab partners... And the last time I saw that hand's color of gold was in a diaper. Anyways, I think I owe the Gameboy an apology. Winner: Not you. I'm so sorry. Thank you for your service.
@RetroComparisons26 күн бұрын
Lmao! The colors in the SMS are such a bizarre choice because every other color port of this game screams early 90s with the color choices and yet they went in a completely different direction. It's not that I despise this game but how did it get a port to seemingly everything at the time? I mean what other game got an official 2600, Lynx & Amstrad GX4000 port?
@Zachary-l5u26 күн бұрын
I think the master system version has more detail despite the fewer colors
@RetroComparisons26 күн бұрын
The limited color palette does hurt it but it is surprisingly detailed which is a nice touch.

Oh yeah haha I can see the resemblance to Guitar Hero. Now they need to make a Klax/Guitar Hero crossover.
