It sure is. While it couldn't come close visually they got a lot of other things right.

The NES version makes the arcade one look tame 😂

It's such a fun and cool concept. It's so satisfying to get that turbo going and get that final hit in on the bad guys.

These games contain neither the paw patroller nor the rescue bot. I call shenanigans

Is there not a Chase H.Q. - Paw Patrol edition on the Wii U where they're smashing cars and busting drug lords?

This was the kind of game that you'd play in the movie theatre before the movie. It was hugely popular at the time. The last system I'd consider porting it to would be NES but they did things like this back then.

This game would really get you hyped for an 80s action movie.

Arcade Chase HQ was really cool. I've tinkered around with the famicom version via the everdrive (and PC Engine version too), and it's okay. It looks a little worse than the SMS port you covered before but also looks quite similar too and both look a fair bit worse than the PC-Engine port. Even if it's not the best quality, it's nice to see some speech in this famicom port. I think this is an okay-enough port for the NES, but it's also not close to the arcade version in coolness.

The arcade game is so great. I love the concept of running down the bad guys with your car. It's such a simplistic concept that is executed to perfection. I do really like this NES port too though it can't match the original. If I had this game on my NES back then I guarantee I would have played the hell out of this.

"Irresponsible Police Chase: The Video Game" 😂 Thank goodness that shoplifter was apprehended. Only took 18 roadside fatalities to do it, too! The NES version here is really nice. Not picture perfect, of course, but really well-done and adds little visual details (especially visible car damage) to make up for where it can't match the arcade. All in all, a great port!

Lol! It's like Team America where they blow up the whole city to catch their guy. The NES version is great. While it is worse in every way understandably it retains the speed, has nice visuals & audio and has that undefinable NES fun factor.

Loved this game in the arcade, I didn't to play it much tho. I vaguely remember renting the NES version which does pretty damn well lol. Winner: Arcade Super scalers and racing just goes so well together! The NES version looked tough as freakin nails lol.... Looked like you just said "F it, this is good enough..." lol Always good stuff man!

Hahaha you've pretty much described 90% of my NES gameplay for these videos. An hour of getting my ass kicked...ok good enough. The NES version is a ton of fun but the arcade original is a whole different level of awesome.

Hey how you doing great comparison video my friend. I used to play both of these games way back as a kid I think both are very good. The nes is an impressive port imo because of the limitations i was pleasantly surprised by the speed. My best friend had this game. The arcade looka better of course but if younhad the nes version, it sufficed. This game also I feel was probably an inaliration for Top Gear series.

Hey I'm good dude besides work kicking my ass lol! How are you? I totally agree, the NES version is really good in just about every way and while it obviously can't compete visually it still looks nice. I think you're right, I can totally see the Top Gear series taking a lot of notes from this game.

Imagine imagine Chase H.Q on GENESIS 32X With? A steering wheel and pedal and gas controlls
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
That's what I wish they did with the 32x, porting a bunch of late 80s/early 90s arcade games at a budget price.

@RetroComparisons Don't worry, I think they will, they're resurrecting the system in Brazil!

The rare arcade port where ZX Spectrum fans pity their console loving counterparts. There's just so much wasted ROM space that should have gone to more frames of fake sprite scaling. Better efforts already existed on the platform...but those games punished you for road rage. Or made you use long distance lasers.
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
Hmm interesting, I've never seen the ZX Spectrum version but I'm gonna check it out after writing this comment. How dare they punish 80's coke-filled road rage! What were they thinking?
@juststatedtheobvious96332 ай бұрын
@@RetroComparisons Not the fastest game; that's one advantage for the NES. But yeah, I'm curious what you make of it. The ZX Spectrum was a 1982 budget computer with no graphics hardware and a 2 color per 8x8 pixel hard limit. It kind of blows my mind any Spectrum game that smooth and detailed could be that playable. Anyways, I blame Nancy Reagan for the NES port not being a better ad for cocaine.
@RetroComparisons2 ай бұрын
@@juststatedtheobvious9633 I thought it was pretty impressive all things considered. Those specs are even less than what I thought it was so that makes it even more impressive. Just say no to Chase H.Q.
