One of my best memories of playing in the arcade, is playing the deluxe version of Power Drift. That thing really moved and it was such a great experience. Having said that, I wouldn't hesitate to play it again on this cabinet. Sure, it won't move, but it would still be fun to me. I also noticed that when you zoomed into the sit-down with the bench pulled away, it looked as though there's no bottom panel. Maybe that means that the pedals could be moved to make it more comfortable. I guess we'll know more soon enough. Group members are reporting that they're getting shipping notifications for their Outrun orders. I imagine you will as well.

I actually like it not being so big so that my six-year-old could play it as well as myself. I don’t think it’s going to be too small unless your 6.4 etc Hopefully my son can reach the steering wheel in the petals that’s the most important for me anyway

I pre-ordered & have no regrets. I'll make a grey platform to elevate it a bit like the original. Maybe I'll leave off the front panel so I can stick the pedals in there need be & I'm sure someone will figure out a back rest. It'll be great.

It makes business sense for the main cabinet to be identical across both versions. I’m guessing that the pedals are attached to the riser/pedestal/seat. There is probably a good chance that if you dislike the sit down you could just get a regular Arcade 1up riser/pedestal and find a way to attach the pedals to it.

I understand the concerns from most people. Outrun is such a beloved game we want the best for it and to have a good experience. After all Outrun has always been one of those 'feel good' games. I will be wanting the Stand up version and hoping it gets a release here in the UK. I really can't wait to watch all the reviews on this one when it drops Soon!

I'll wait until they work out the kinks on their racing cabs. Those pedals need to be in the cab and the seat needs a back. I'd like them to set up the ability to network the cabs once they get into Cruisin or Daytona. I'm confident they'll see the value in temping people to have multiple purchases to race against each other. I'm out on A1Up until they do something like that or a shooter like T2.

okay so here's my thoughts on the sit down version from what we've seen so far: 1) the cab needs to be another 4-6 inches taller. The steering wheel should sit at a height that is chest high. 2) the pedals are inline with the steering wheel, anyone that's ever driven knows this is wrong. The pedals need to be recessed in the cabinet. 3) and easy solution for the bench not having a back on it would be getting one off those stadium seats with the back on it and replacing the cushion that comes with it with the stadium seat.

Waiting for the standup cabinet. I think I am too big to be comfortable playing on the sit down. If I am correct then it will never get played. So, going with the standup should be a safe bet.

I am also having buyers remorse. I put a lot of quarters in the original Out-Run in the late 80's so when this went for preorder, I had too! but the one I played was a standup version. I'm wondering if the cabinets will be the same and we can easly convert to a standup by buying a riser? The sit down versions take up more valuable realestate and I'm quickly running out of space in my home arcade cave; but I have a specail spot reserved for a future TRON cabinet which I am hopeful for 2021.

I choose AFM, after seeing a photo of the cabinet on Retro Ralph. It freaked me out a bit. At my size (6'6" and heavy set), I have zero faith in the size. I know there are discussions about full-size cabinets - I think as they branch out to non-standard cabinet formats, they should start to lean into that with the Sam's/Costco/BJ's distribution model - 4 player cabinets, driving cabinets, shooting cabinets, etc. Give them full or close to full size cabinets - maybe a tiny bit bigger than AT Games Legend, and increase the screen size as well (I'm aware it would cost additional, and so it isn't an easy recommendation, as they would most likely have to find something else to throw in to balance the cost and entice purchases - I can slip $500 past my wife, but higher than that...ehhhhh haha). As a side to that, they should also include some kind of audio output for a subwoofer, letting us purchase a sub and place it under the seat to act as an inducer - to increase the immersion. Not asking them to supply the sub or sell it, just give us the support so that it is an easy add and not a "mod". Oh, and while my driving game of choice is Crazy Taxi, if they do make a Daytona, it might be worth the cost/effort to add network linking. We already have wifi/internet based match-making, so some of the idea hooks are already there. I personally have been planning on building my own driving setup, and was going to build (2) setup for this purpose, just keep holding off because of cost and effort, would rather buy a Daytona/Crazy Taxi - linkable cabinet - twice, and call it a day.

I'd assume the bench on the sit down version isn't hooked to the cabinet so you can slide the seat in and out if needed. If not, I'm sure it could easily be modded to do that.

As cool as these seem I dont think these are worth it for games like "Outrun" Which aren't bad, but if you're making a dedicated racing cabinet you might as well put a 3D racing game to make good use of it. Ridge Racer? Cruis'n World? Daytona USA? San francisco Rush? I dont know...

I have played the deluxe sit down version of OutRun, but I preferred the stand up version. I was distracted by the moving cab and found it easier to do well playing the stand up. And my local arcade had the standup version. There was a period of time in 1987 where I drove to the arcade every night to play a few games of OutRun. So I played the stand up version a lot more. I won’t be buying the Arcade1Up version, though, because I now have the stand up arcade machine in my garage.

An outrun or any racer is very appealing to me. They are my kids' favorite type of arcades. I just feel like maybe this is sorta missing the mark. I dont like the ergonomics and toy look of the whole thing. Give me a better cabinet and seat design with a better title and force feedback and i might pull the trigger but, for now, i think I need to let A1UP work out their wave 1 kinks and make design improvements.

Outrun is cool and all that but I have too hold out for Daytona. Also, I only ever played the stand up version of Outrun, a few years after its release, so this is a pass for me. Will definetly be buying some cabs in 2021. I'm just waiting to see what CES 2021 has in store for us.

A1U is renowned for letting the community beta test these concepts and respond with updates. It makes sense Daytona is on hold until the bugs are worked out and they get an idea on how the arcade community is going to react. I’m not a big fan of these sit down cabinets. They are so small and yet take up a lot of real estate, which is an issue for many of us. A stand up version is a must buy but the sit down is a pass for me.

I went to The Brick and played a bit with the demo unit. The plastic pedals are a huge mistake (anyone remember the Rock Band drum kits? Hard pass for that alone.

I get what you are saying that we might look at it with “retro” eyes - taken back to the original version in our local arcade and all the fun plugging a dollar into playing a fully interactive game. I’m glad I choose not to purchase this version of the cabinet. From the picture you shared with the employee from 1Up sitting at the console it truest looks like a child’s toy. John D suggested that full cabinets may be in 1Ups future. I’d say this type of cabinet would have been a better venture as a full size cabinet. I’m a bigger guy - no way I’d be comfortable sitting and playing at this offering

Hopefully it can be hacked with the original roms in order to restore the original car graphics as the ones shown in the trailer are not the original. I have seen them in another version (can't remember where now) and I think was down to the copyright issue Sega had with using the original image of the Testarossa without Ferrari's permission

Don't poo poo the sit down. I sim race and they have feet that could go under the cabinet and give you the tilt like the deluxe version. I'd that would work there would be no need for Daytona can for those who have outrun sitdown. Just a thought.

I will pass on this one, as I have already built the same stand up racing arcade mod that Ralph did. I am also a little disappointed that they didn't take some design cues from the community on how they made sit down racer mods with your feet more inside the cab.

It looks tiny. And lightweight. Which is an issue in a driving game where you wanna feel behind the wheel of an actual car. I have the original and it really benifits from its large size and scale. Think it will be. A bit underwhelming. On the flip side the more people playing Outrun the better

It's a digital display. I would rather have a CRT with a joystick than a wheel on a digital display.
