I've been playing turtles in time more and it's weird cause I'm used to the super nintendo version not this one but it's still great.

@@wreckitralph4714 yea there are some subtle differences between the SNES and arcade versions that throw people off initially if they never played turtles in time in the original arcade form back in the day.

I just got this for free from the dump just 5 days ago. Everything was perfect but it was missing a red ball top and dust washer for the far left joy, and no power cable. I had the cable, fired up like new. Ball top arrives tomorrow, and 4, 3D printed NYC manhole covers will be here 3 days after. I always dealt in full size games, but some friends saw this at the dump and sent me a message. Never seen a 1up, up close, but figured worst case, I could salvage the parts, chop the top and make a countercade. With the riser that was included, it was a perfect size to put in my bedroom. My orginal full size Mortal Kombat cab has like 2.5x the footprint of this thing, so I don't have to hit the gargage to play games now. My honest opinion, they arent bad for what they are, but I will always be on the lookout for broken or gutted ones. Throw a Pi in em, like I plan to do with mine. Never beat either TMNT in high school cause they were notorious quarter grabbers. With freeplay both games are a 30 minute job or less. Unless you're a huge TMNT, there's no tricks or easter eggs, so there's no point in ever playing em again. I've played ROMs since they dropped, and never really played these despite having them. I guess what I'm saying is, I like the cheap but compact cabinets with the artwork on em, more than any of the games they offer for the price. I'll be dropping a 20" 5:4 monitor in that bitch too, while I build the PC for it. By the time I'm done, it'll be a rad machine for the bedroom for free and using crap I already have sitting like usb encoders, monitors... this thing will play Gauntlet Dark Legacy and the Gamecube TMNT games as well. A free perfect condition cabinet that somebody with more money to burn than I do started all of this project.

I absolutely love Turtles in Time. But the first game was my first arcade beat 'em up and made up more of my childhood. For subjectively better game, I'd have to say Turtles in Time. For nostalgia goggled love, I have to say the first one.

Great video! I bet these would mod beautifully for other 4-player games, and would be all over it if I wasn't soon gonna mod my A1up Rampage cab into (initially) a 3-player cab using the Pandora's Box 9D and its new adaptor, then eventually (most likely) modding it further with a 4-player control deck from Tulsa Arcades. The A1up cabs are great for the price, but the first generation made such an impression on me that I just quickly got into larger scale cabinet builds, and recently started a full size 4-player cabinet with two 8-button stations and two 6-button stations. I loved the portability of the A1ups so much, though, that my full-size is actually an over-sized bartop cabinet that lifts right off it's base, so I can more easily bring it out to the patio for BBQs, or even take it to gatherings elsewhere (I expect it to weigh about 120 lbs, so I'm adding side handles to facilitate a 2-person lift). Hoping to have it done in time for Christmas. Would be awesome at our giant Christmas bash. That said, I'd still probably buy the MKII A1up cab if I ever saw it for $200. It's just too damn pretty!

I put on an older gen ArcadeModeUp marquee without drilling new holes. Just used the side screws and it works fine. That said, that marquee there looks sweet!

@@cacantil I used the splitter without any issues. Your marquee should have the correct drill holes in it as I've heard ArcadeModUp now drills them correctly for TMNT and Marvel. Mine doesn't have them on the back of the marquee, so I just mounted it using only the screws on the sides.

00:57 I noticed during my play throughs of Turtles in Time that some of the interactive foreground objects (like the fire hydrants) appear behind the players/enemies no matter where you're standing. It's the only negative thing I could say about the Arcade 1up cabinet but it totally stands out.

Great vid man! Did you notice on your machine that the plastic overlay on the controls come up a little on both sides? Like on Leonardo’s and Raphael’s sides and also in the center next to the screen. I was wondering if it was happening on other people’s machines too.

@HappyFunnyGaming while I haven't personally had that issue occur, I've seen a few reports of that happening. I suppose you could try to flip the plastic over the other direction and see if it will level out over time.

CoolToy, So glad you got this cab, great review! A bit disappointed to hear about the intermittent slowdown during 4-player gameplay with lots of enemies on the screen, but that also got me thinking. With Arcade1up's new PCB, housing an actual Micro USB port, I'm thinking Arcade1up may be able to offer firmware updates to fix any issues instead of having to send out whole board replacements like they had to do to fix Gauntlet on the Rampage cabinet. Fingers crossed :) I got real excited when you started talking about holding down buttons to activate special features. But that excitement quickly turned to disappointment when you didn't mention "holding down a button for 10 seconds," or "entering the Konami code" to activate hidden Simpsons or X-Men arcade games. Yeah, Yeah, I'm dreamin' :) Anyway, thanks as always for giving us the latest on Arcade1up and other cool stuff. Have a great one! vgv

I'm really hoping that micro USB port is for firmware updates as well. It really is about the only thing I can think of that would make since for why it's there. A secret Konami code would have been hilariously awesome on this cabinet! It would have been a nice secret middle finger to Nickelodeon 😂

I mean technically no. You could probably get by with just using the side holes like normal. Drilling holes on the backside would just be for securing the marquee to the speaker holding board itself. The two side holes would likely have enough pressure to keep everything snug enough on their own.

Great video, I am loving the upgrades with this new cabinet compared to the older ones. Hopefully a Nba Jam 4 player cabinet comes out. Also how much better do those speakers sound than the factory ones? I actually think the factory speakers sound pretty good.

the upgraded speakers sound pretty good. The difference is not going to blow anyone away, but I wanted to get another point of reference to judge the stock speakers with. You are right, I think the factory speakers sound good in their own right. The speaker upgrade is likely only going to really be necessary for those audiophiles out there.

I ordered the marquee from arcadegamefactory for marvel and tmnt....there marquees are just made better than the other companies including arcade1up....the black trim sets it off.....looked like tmnt marquee lit up with out use of a switch on back of cab? Thanks for video bro

Correct, the new arcadegamefactory marquee powers on and off with the flip of the Arcade1Up power switch. No need to toggle it on or off anymore. Scott really does make amazing marquees!

Im back at 7 again with star wars making it 8....nba jam will be 9....i had contractor come in and gut a room that will hold about 11....just have to be picky going forward.....have pac, galaga, tee, tmnt, marvel, final fight and mk2....i keep 3 downstairs in awesome cubbyhole in kitchen....rest upstairs.....i went to barcade last night and after seeing all of the 4 player 350lb machines i def appreciate arcade1up more!!

There's a sound issue on this that I noticed with the original TMNT game. If you are attacking enemies when there is some spoken dialogue (like "Tonight I dine on turtle soup!"), the sound effects will cut the dialogue off. I haven't noticed anyone else talking about this.

that isn't an issue, it did the same thing on the original arcade

@@cooltoy You sure? I watched a couple of playthrough videos of the arcade original (not MAME), and the voices never cut out, even during a 4-player play through where there was tons of sound effects going on at once.

I noticed the cab shakes when just moving the joystick, especially with 4 people playing. Could you put bags of sand or something to weigh it down to stop that wobble? Is there space below to do this?

Hey Cooltoy. I just got myself the TMNT cabinet the other day. I think it looks great granted it’s still in the box lol. My question is I’m not that skilled with modding so I was wondering do you have any recommendations on what I could do to get everything that the modded Arcade1ups people have but without the modifications. Is there just like one thing I could buy like the pie and hook it up and I’m good to go? I’d love to have all the stuff that people do with there cabs, however I need something like a “grab n go” way lol. Thanks man!

DIYretroarcade has a few different "all in one" kits they sell that have everything you would need for a mod project to get all the games on the arcade you could possibly want. It would still require you to do some changes to the cabinet though.

I just bought the light up Marquee for TMNT on link you provided for Arcade Game Factory. Can you turn it on so that it lights up without the screen/game turning on? Also can the same be done for the Star Wars cabinet? I'd like the have them lit up without the screen sometimes.
