Large humans Gwynevere, Artorias, Smough, Gundyr, ect. are bigger than man, they're still human in someway (or posses a lot of souls to be huge) yet Giants ... like, the actual Giants are unique. When you fight Yhorm, the Giant King- you need the Stormruler to do decent damage to the guy. Giants are very hard to kill if you're man, because they posses unique souls unlike other beings. That is why they wrecked Vendrict's kingdom pretty hard, in fact that's the reason why you need Giant Souls to do any damage to Vendrict because they equal to his level of power. While Giants can still be killed, they're tougher than the majority of enemies in the game, including in Dark Souls II and Dark Souls III.

Actually, the canon ending of Dark Souls 3 is to let the Flame fade as stated by the guidebook. Rekindling the Flame shows that the flame is clearly dying and all that is left are embers. Usurping the Flame is even worse and you are creating the age of Hollows for your own personal gain. And don't get me started on the whole "Kill the Fire Keeper" ending that doesn't even reward you for your horrible deed. However, letting the Flame fade not only ends the nightmare of the Dark Souls, but also shows that the Chosen Undead and the Fire Keeper have a future beyond the Age of Fire and set into motion the Age of Man. Fire will come again, but in a new and different form. This most likely connects to Bloodborne given how Aldrich saw an "Age of Ocean" beyond the Age of Fire.

Except in Dark Souls 2 Aldia, the scholar of the first, sin tells you that even letting the flame fade will solve nothing, the "new and different fire" will fade eventually as well, leading again to the choice of linking it or letting it fade, and the cicle will continue. The choice of whether or not to ignite the flame being meaningless, Vendrick researched and ended up with the revelation that to end the cicle once and for all both the first flame and the dark souls must be used in tandem, but was too late to implement it himself. That's what the usurpation of the fire is, by usurping the fire you mixed it with the dark soul inside of you and thanks to the ritual needed to get the ending the same thing happens to Anri of Astora, you can find her/him alive in the ending cutscene if you pay attention, which leads to an "Adam and Eve" situation, with the 2 of you being the progenitors of a new era of mankind free of the cicle.

I highly doubt Bloodborne is connected to Dark Souls. I always thought that after canon ending the whole circle would eventually start again. The age of ancients then the age of fire again then inevitably the age of dark. The only reason I think that would be that people are turning into trees, dragons and Aldrich mentions an "age of ocean" and the one place we find an everlasting dragon is in a massive underground lake. I haven't really thought about it too much and haven't made many connections but it's possible perhaps?

Don't forget, the Hunter's Dream appears to be supported by Arch Trees. While it may not be canon, I like to think that Aldritch saw the events at Byrgenwerth, and what happened to Mother Kos and her Orphan. Hence his vision of the Age of Ocean.

I think it's safe to assume the word twin refers to how they are essentially an inseparable set dependent on each other, but the game refers to them as elder and younger, so twin likely isn't meant in the familial sense

I have one complaint about the video. You can't kill a hollow "if their sanity leaves them completely." That is a major point of the plot in DS1 and a minor point in DS2. Hollows keep piling up and there is literally no getting rid of them. That is why the undead asylum and the lost bastille exist. They temporarily alleviate the problem by having somewhere to stick the hollows until someone rekindles the first flame and they can die. Some undead, but not all however, do sometimes reach a point at which they are so hollow and give so little of a fuck that they just stop moving. They may as well be dead, but technically are still living.

Actually according to the guide in dark souls 3 the true ending is that you let the flame die and for dark souls 2 you don't sit at the throne at the end as you leave to search for a new way to stop the undead curse and you do by gaining the 3 crowns aka dlc however it only stops the curse for you no one else

As far as I know, the curse was created when the abyss was. I thought Manus created the curse so an undead could get strong enough to end the age of fire and begin the age of dark, the age of men (as said in the alternative ending of Dark Souls) and avange Manus from Gwyn and his servants of Oolacile, because they caused so much pain to Manus and Gwyn nor anyone did nothing about it until Manus used the dark soul and became the father of the abyss, and then, the curse was created, if you link the fire, the abyss weakens and so does the curse of the undead.

my theory is that hollows are the natural state of humans and with the dark soul, they become human.BUT the dark soul still comes from the first flame and when it starts to fade and it gets weaker, so does the humanity (fragments of the dark soul) weaken, which leads to some humans starting to enter their natural state again. The dark souls story makes me wander how many beings in it are virtually immortal as undead and weather anything is accomplished by trying to kill them. The unkindled was specifically stated to have "not survived" the rekindling process, and he comes around anyway and kills a bunch of bosses. These bosses who didn't survive the player killing them seem like they could just come back too as undead.

Well the thing about unkindled is that they never linked the flame, they failed and were turned to ash. The reason for the immortality of humans (the player) is the undead curse won't let them die, however a hollow is able to die. Most of the bosses and such aren't human but rather lords, constructs,and demons. In a normal cycle the unkindled ash would never have been revived, but it was necessary in order to force the lords of cinder, those who had succeeded in linking the flame into fulfilling their duty. So really the only immortal ones are the humans strong enough to resist hollowing.

Not sure about patches but I heard Andre accidentally lit the first flame by smithing too fast, also clunk noises he made awoke manus. And the reason he is keeping the forest key is the fact he is the 3rd sealer of 4 kings he has it so we can't reach the Sif and get the ring for the fight. Also u all remember the straight sword he was hammering in the first game that is actually storm ruler which explains why siegward has it, he was waiting in front of the sen's for Andre to complete it. I actually read somewhere Andre defeated a whole army of dragons with a dropkick and he can upgrade weapons further than a catapult

It's really cool to think that every kingdom in the souls series (Lordran, Drangleic, Lothric) has been built around the Kiln of the First Flame that we see in Dark Souls 1. And its always been related to the Firelink Shrine in some way. Dark Souls 2 was bit weird though because it used Majula instead of Firelink, and the Kiln is actually underneath Drangleic Castle, but it still makes sense. The kiln is always locked away and protected in some fashion. The thing I don't understand, though, is the fact that the guardians of the flame want to kill you. It made sense in DS2 because Nashandra wanted to inherit it herself, but as far as Gwyn from DS1 and Soul of Cinder are concerned, you are assumed to be just another successor with the same goal as them. Wouldn't they want a fresh soul to relink the fire and continue their legacy? Maybe they feel that the chosen undead/unkindled one need to prove the strength of their soul so that they don't give up the flame to someone who can't sustain it?

(I might be wrong here) There are other lore speculations that say that Lothric is completely able to light the first flame, he decided not to, as the repetitive linking of the first flame continues the cycle of man going into a pseudo depression state where many of them turn into hollows, and he decides to not link it and to try to prevent any further person from linking it. Yeah, and who exactly told you that? A fucking primodial serpent. The Age of the Dark is also a part of the cycle, the flame eventually rebirths on its own. Usurpation of Fire in DS3 is maybe the only true way of killing the cycle, but we don't really see what it entails other than hollows worshipping you. Ringed City shows plenty that the dark isn't particularly ethical or good. Creatures born from it to tell others of how great it is, essentially the Dark's own propagandists, can barely do their work because they just wanna eat every single fucking being with a soul rather than do orations. An unkindled isn’t someone who didn’t survive the linking process, it’s someone who fails to link the fire. You didn't set out to rekindle the First Flame, you set out to find answers to how to stop the hollowing and got side tracked with a manipulative queen's attempt to steal a giant oven chair (which didn't make any sense anyway).
