~17:00 Glens Retro show under GRS/Thunderstick brand now offers a 4/8 way gate switcher so the Magstick may not be needed, but no one has confirmed 100% that it has worked w/this stick yet afaik

I may send Atari an email that reads something along the lines of: Dear Atari, Please stop making me sad. While I'll admit I was not likely to buy your VCS system, I am very interested in buying one or more of your Wireless Classic Joysticks. For me it kills two birds with one stone: 1) A retro style USB joystick with some useful additional buttons. 2) A paddle style controller. However, it seems these are not available to purchase outside the US. More recently I came across another product of yours: The Atari Single Player Fight Stick. This is an extremely attractive proposition as it not only covers arcade stick duties, but also offers a spinner, trackball and buttons perfectly placed for pinball video games. There are very few options for spinner and trackball controllers without the need to install them in an arcade cabinet, so I was very excited to purchase one. My excitement was short-lived however when I discovered this appears to be a Micro Centre exclusive item (that is also out of stock) which again. DOES NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE US! I would very much appreciate it if you could pull your excrement together and stop excluding the whole world aside from the US from being able to purchase interesting products that fill an admittedly niche gap in the market. Yours sincerely Napalmhardcore PS: Well done on your Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration compilation.

Excellent information on how to configure d-pad vs analog joystick mode. I totally missed that config. I got this from Microcenter to go with the RaspberryPI Atari games SD card I got from them too. The only thing is I’m having trouble getting the trackball and spinner to work. The joystick works great though. Better than my other one. It does have the arcade machine feel to it. From reading on the internet I have to edit some config files to get the trackball and spinner to work. Im looking forward to using these with centipede and tempest once I figure out the config.

Did you get this working with the pi? I'm looking at getting this for retroarch/emulation station on my pi.

@@Stemage Yes! Thank you. It works great now. I had to adjust USB poll rate. This video shows how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXS9aoqBfZlqeLc

Really great review, but I’d like to see how much the spinner gets in the way of the trackball for games like Golden Tee, Bowling games or Shuffleshot. Looks like it would interfere with your follow through.

Nice. I was wondering is it possible to swap to sanwa 30mm/24mm push buttons?

The spinner is one of the items on this panel that was made by GRS (Glen's Retro Show). As a result, there is already a steering wheel sold by Micro Center that will fit this spinner. Here is the link: www.microcenter.com/product/639956/atari-grs-arcade-steering-wheel-compatible-w-grs-spinner-v1-v2-and-grs-button-hole-spinner

I came across the steering wheel on the website but forgot about it when making the video. Kinda pricey though.

Any idea if this will work with a PS5? I’d much rather use the trackball and spinner for games like Centipede and Tempest from the Atari Flashback collection.

Is there a way to get the controller outside of the u.s. to buy?

is dpad mode synonymous with "digital" and joystick means analog?

Thanks for the review. Thumbs up. 1 question though. Is the spinner a push/pull spinner? What I mean is can you push down on it to activate a button and also pull up on it??? An arcade game called Discs of Tron used that kind of spinner. Pulling up would raise your crosshairs and pushing down would lower them. A game called Frontline also allowed you to push down on the spinner to use a weapon. Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately it is not

@@ArcadeOne I think Glen's Retro show did a video on this stick and iirc, he thought it might be problematic to add the DOT push/pull spinner due to how everything is glued inside this unit. The price and fear of difficult modding has not sold me on it yet, but I still keep an open mind to it, if my alternatives are worse.

8 direction vs. 4 direction joystick ok? When switching from pacman to mortal kombat?

This is what I'm trying to figure out. He called it "d-pad" mode so I'm thinking it might be okay, but not sure haha

hi, I live in Italy, but would you by any chance sell me the Atari Single Player USB Fight Stick? :)
could they make it look worse though. the red trackball is too small, and the spinner is located in a terrible out of the way spot. this is exactly how you don't make a control panel. the other 2 player one is way better looking, costs less, and if you add the drop in spinner, is way more useable. you can also play all your dual stick shooters, or have 2 player controls. no thanks on this. later -1

trackball is a fine size, spinner is not out of the way, not everyone wants a 2 player arcade stick, in fact lots of people don't.
