Cruel Shoes (2:19) has really changed over the years. Not really a fan of it as it is now. What used to be ad libs are now a part of the cadence which detracts from it IMO. It used to be they were thrown in occasionally for some spice mostly by the quads and snares but otherwise kept straight and simple with a groove. Also the original version didn't have the Quads/Tenors mimicking the basses. They have their own distinct part that's not being played at all here.

@jorgealberto1989 Latin Blood and Cadence '86 are both USC cadences that we started playing in the mid to late 80's when Alan Reinecke was our PI. Alan was a USC and AHS grad. Mother's Cookies is more traditional, it dates back to the 70's and was a competition cadence. Cruel Shoes and Victor were written in the mid 80's as well before one of the Rose Parades in order to flesh out the cadence sequence. -Tom, Section Leader, Class of 1991

MickAv8r do you have the music sheet for the whole cadence?

@MickAv8r : Thanks for the history. I knew Mother's was a longstanding Arcadia tradition - it was around before I was there, which is to say a loooong time ago.

Mothers Cookies also needs more emphasis on the dynamics. For example, the snare drum rolls around 1:54-1:56 should be a crescendo start pp and roll to FF, first time through at 2:05 should be much quieter, as softly as you can play then go all out on the second run through. MC dates back to the late 70's back before quads and less musical basses, so its heart was in very specific and dramatic changes in dynamics. Great job though.
