Arcane 1x2 Reaction | Some Mysteries Are Better Left Unsolved

In Mrs Kiraman's / Caitlyn's mom's defence, the explosion nearly killed her daughter (Caitlyn). She was willing to forgive him for that because she felt the explosion was a result of the thieves' recklessness, until she found out that Jayce was meddling with magic.... which is seen as dangerous and not something people should be messing with. And even then, she still supported leniency and the less harsh punishment. All things considered, I'd say she was pretty forgiving and decent towards Jayce. In her eyes, Jayce nearly killed her daughter because of his recklessness.

Also Jayce was likely using their money for his endeavor thus the Kiraman house would be seen as coulpable with the breaking the eathos laws. They could lose standing and be like the Tallis family.

wow this is the first time I see someone defending caitlyn's mom, every reactors I've seen and the comments seems to not like her as much, well cause to them they see her as someone who's only using jayce and went back to him when the hextech became successful

That's not completely true though. We see earlier on that Tobias says "he nearly killed our daughter" and she didn't contradict him on that point, but rather on the fact that the responsibility fell onto the thieves so they already thought the explosion was because of something dangerous that he owned, not something the thieves brought with them which is confirmed in the hearing by the council. They already knew it was his fault on top of the thieves fault but when it became politically inconvenient (not some zanny experiment gone wrong but the freaking arcane, the blight of their world) she dumped him. True enough about her supporting the lenient sentence though, she is not completely heartless in this, but she is acting politically first.

@@Arkayjiya I don't doubt that they had any illusions that the dangerous materials were things already in Jayce's apartment. Rather, they had assumed that he was being sensible in taking due diligence in keeping them safe and secure, and that the research subject was something sensible. And that it was the thieves being reckless and mishandling Jayce's stuff that ultimately caused the explosion. Rather than it being that Jayce was dabbling recklessly into taboo research and using materials that were so unstable that they couldn't be stored securely at his place. Not sure if I'm getting my explanation/interpretation across coherently. Also, I think Caitlyn's mother wasn't so much acting _politically_ but rather what is socially expected of her and her family. As they were his sponsor / benefactor, she would be expected to be more lenient towards him, and that it would reflect poorly on her family if they were seen as being _"overly harsh"_ and heartless towards him.

She was preparing for the trial, they had already finished the search of his appartment, he had a safe with no lock on it. The only thing that they didn't know was that those blue stones had magic in them, they knew everything else. As a rule, if you're keeping stuff that can explode if thieves gets in and you're keeping that not only easily accessible but in the middle of the city in what seems to be an apartment complex, you're also responsible for the damage. They already had all the elements to know he was responsible, they were just willing to sweep that under the rug because they didn't know it was magic. "socially expected" That's literally the same thing when you're a councillor. Your social capital is your political capital.

A neat detail; Jayce's mother has frostbite on two of her fingers when they are rescued then when they show her again she has two metal fingers replacing them.

Powder needing to toughen up in order to survive in the Undercity is really tragic. She is so young and is already so bright. Could you imagine if she had the education and resources that Jayce has? Instead, she's trying to figure out how to make nail bombs work so she doesn't get beaten up on the street.

Jayce doesn't want to create magic, he wants it to be available for people who can't use magic naturally through technology. Hence the name Hextech. As in Hexed (magicked up) technology. He is trying to combine magic and technology so that anyone can use it. Piltover as a city of technological progress hates and fears magic because in their world, as far as they know, it can only be used by those who can use magic naturally. Unlike the Piltover technology that can be used by anyone, which they pride themselves on. Thus a lot of the council people all wearing techy clicky clacky things. Jayce on the other hand seems to think he can get it work. Jayce was about to be exiled from the city at his trial because magic users are not welcome at all in the shiny technological city that is Piltover. I think this was one of the things that wasn't directly explained in words in the show so isn't as obvious on the first watch. It's just kind of implied through indirect actions, art, words in these first 2 episodes. As for Heimerdinger - he is a Yordle. It's one of the non-human races of this world. They never directly name them in the show from what I remember. So just know that he is called a yordle. They are long lived and have magic naturally. It's why he has the strongest reaction when Jayce mentions he was studying magic.

"Singed" is pronounced like past tense of the word "singe" meaning to burn lightly. I love how intuitive you are. You catch a lot of the foreshadowing clues of what's to come. It's great rewatching the series with a new perspective. Can't wait for more ARCANE!!!

I feel like Clagor has an insanely good characterisation in just the first episode. He's sweeter to Powder and keeps up with Milo and Vi, even stopping to grab a treat. He offers to go back and help Powder. He takes 3 people on at once in the street fight and still gives every bit of credit to Vi. This show doesn't waste a frame.

You're very perceptive! Glad you picked up on that moment when Vi gives Powder the stuffed rabbit and tells her to always remember that what makes her different makes her strong. You see Powder gradually realize that what Vi is saying sounds like a goodbye, and that's why she's so disconsolate in the following (beautifully wordless) bar scene with Vander. I love that ARCANE so often shows, rather than tells. It demands attention of the viewer but is so much more nuanced and satisfying.

Heimerdinger is a Yordle, and yes, he is magical. Yordles are all intrinsically magical and immortal. At least that's the case in the core universe lore. It remains to be seen how much of that lore gets carried over into Arcane.

In the original game lore, Heimerdinger created Hextech. With this one change, it makes every other piece of game lore subject to potential change. At the point in the lore when Hextech was first created, Singed was still living in Piltover. But, in Arcane, he was in Zaun way before that.

Yup. A huge part of reaction channels is the reactors going in as fresh as possible, but there's a large segment of people who just can't let them experience it how we did. It sucks, and has been a big problem for other reaction channels. Reactors need to have a moderated comment section, or just avoid the comments entirely.

After you watch episode 4 (but before episode 7), you should check out the music video to Imagine Dragons - Enemy. It's animated in the same style as Arcane, and is basically deleted scenes from the show. There's also a ton of very cool animated shorts for League of Legends that you could check out after the show. Videos like "Awaken", "Warriors" and "The Call" or even things like "K/DA", their alternate universe K-pop music group. They're not necessarily directly related to Arcane though, since Arcane is to League of Legends as what the Marvel Cinematic Universe is to the Marvel Comics - same characters, same basic stories etc but the MCU changes some stuff from the comics as to adapt them for Movies/TV. Similar to how Arcane adapts (fairly faithfully mind you) the lore of League of Legends.

I don't think people "like" to spoil this show. Rather it's just so involved, deep, and intricate. People get excited sharing their opinions and theories. Before you realize it, you've said something that hasn't been revealed yet. The other day I was writing a response disagreeing with someone else's interpretation of something in the show, and was moments away from accidentally including aspects from an episode that hadn't been watched yet. I caught myself, but I've seen those types of responses from others in comment threads. Must remain vigilant, and not let exuberance for the material cause you to spoil it for another.

Such a good series. @@funnylilgalreacts eh LoL gets a bad rep. The people are the toxic part of LoL, the game does facilitate that thought process though so, maybe a little blame there, but for the most part the game is fine if you like MOBAs. You tend to see a lot more of the toxic ones in ranked play as they tend to blame everyone but themselves for losing and often devolve into a weird being of pure flaming salty rage. So if you stay out of ranked, it is a better experience, at least in my opinion. The game is enjoyable, but it does take a while to get even competent at it, if you want to be good that often takes even more study and dedication to it, but as long as you know the basics (and again avoid ranked) the game is fine, and most people (MOST) are fine as long as you aren't actively trying to fail, some will even happily give tips if you ask.

Honestly imo, I feel like Mylo is jealous of Powder. I think all of his bullying towards her and complaining about her short-comings are coming from his own insecurities. Despite seeing how Powder has perfect aim and can make all these kool inventions, he still tries to point out all her short-comings. its usually what jealous people do- almost like they're trying to make the other person feel less than to make themselves feel better about their own self. that's my guess. Idk if they ever say or anything, it's just what I took from it.

"She seems like she's willing to sacrifice herself actually" Damn, well spotted considering it's exactly at the end of this scene that she decides to do just that xD SPOILER FOR UP TO EPISODE 4: I always wonder how different would the story be if they had actually found Powder there. Vi and Vander were not letting them take Powder which mean that this idiot Marcus would not have gotten out of this alive (or if he was, it would be because Vander thinks he can actually make an efficient trade out of it) because no matter how well armed and equipped they were, they wouldn't survive 2 minutes in Vander's bar of all places (Marcus really is a moron, his raid could literally not succeed). Silco still had his plan of course, but instead of killing Vander, he could force Vander into a war (and possibly an alliance) by killing the hostages if Vander hadn't. Now did Silco want the war at the time? Maybe. He does have a lot of Shimmer and I'm assuming that Powder's little monkey set him back a good year by burning his stock and almost killing his scientist. But even accounting for that, he still didn't start the war or negotiations 7 years later so he probably wasn't ready. But if he felt that the war is starting anyway due to Vander's handling of Marcus, he might still go for it and force Vander's hand. His first plan wasn't to kill Vander but to give him a choice se we see his feelings of vengeance were secondary to him compared to the cause.

After episode 6, you can react to the enemy music video made for arcane, some things are much more meaningful. You can definitely watch the Get Jinx video on demand after the series is over. They released the Get Jinx music video in 2013 as a promotion when the jinx character first came to league of legends. Although it looks like a future version, they actually changed the characters of the league of legends universe and the characters of the arcane universe to a certain extent. It can be thought of as a parallel universe.

​@@funnylilgalreacts If you don't know, Arcane came out in arcs when it first came out and we had to wait a week after every 3 episodes. So don't feel like it's necessarily going to be an important scene. end of arc 1 I'm sure viewers who comment will say this in episodes 6 and 9. Not for anything related to the series. end of arcs. This first trailer has been known since its release. They explained it through the trailer. It's like a movie trilogy. But yes, it can cause misunderstandings if the reactors don't know that they come out as arcs.
