It is a version of dunkleosteus. Probably more fantastical than it's real counterpart.

I also like how Silco positions himself to the left side of the boy, so that he looks at his good eye instead of his nasty one. And he grabs the knife because when he was being drowned by Vander, he used his knife to get free. So he expects the boy to try and do the same, but only _after_ the boy calls them monsters. He was perfectly fine with the boy being able to defend himself before that.

Thanks for the analysis. The parallels between Silco and the shark really struck me in this scene: the profile shots of Silco against the blue expanse of the water, the way he moves in a graceful, predatory way, circling his prey... I didn't feel him throwing away the knife released the tension, only escalated it further, as it proved that Silco didn't need it to control and intimidate the poor guy.
@sunflowerice3 жыл бұрын
That shark really had it´s purpose, because it screams "predator" and then it´s projected onto Silco at how he walks and holds himself so you automatically think of him as "predator", too :D gods, I love watching Silco, because he´s so deliberate in (almost) everything and he knows how to choose his words so you get roped in xD

It just occurred to me that this scene foreshadows Silco's relationship with Jinx. He's testing this blond kid, searching for a protege. The kid fails to meet his hopes, unable to see what he sees, and becomes a crude prototype sacrificed for progress. This is why Silco takes Powder in so readily, something which seemed abrupt to me before, but now makes more sense. He wants a child of his own to give the future to, and Jinx is his perfect success.
@Duck-xp3oq3 жыл бұрын
Wow! That makes a lot of sense and it's something that I didn't think about while making the video.
@cprw103 жыл бұрын
He took Powder because he felt pity for her. But why? Because he felt that he understood the sentiment of "betrayal," of abandonment that she's feeling, when Powder said: *"She left me, she is not my sister anymore."* In Powder's POV, Vi left her bc she never saw Vi trying to return for her. From Powder's POV you couldn't see where Vi was hidding in that alley, you could only see a black alley, so, of course she thought Vi left her for good, bceause she caused the death of their family (unintentionally tho.) Vi smacks her in the face, calls her a Jinx for it and leaves her. From Vi's POV she was still able to see Powder from where she was. Earlier when Silco saw Vi fighting with Vander's gloves, he saw how much in common Vi had with Vander, later when he met a crying, broken, lonely Powder, that had being "abandon" by her own sister. He saw how much in common Powder had with him just like he was betrayed and abandoned by Vander, a man that he thought was his brother.... The main reason why he took Powder was because he saw himself reflected in Powder. *Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language*

Deckard imitates his mannerisms at first when he confronts Vi and the others, and they both use knives as their weapons, implying to me that the kid was something of a protege, yeah.
@kamakazines49013 жыл бұрын
It's not just a shot from inside a cage, it is a shot from inside the cage of the mouse who becomes a monster. The shot emphasizes Silco's intention, and foreshadows Deckard's fate. He's not just trapped, he's already doomed to a fate worse than death.
@DeadlyLazer3 жыл бұрын
It should be noted that the glass box with the blood stains on it was from the previous episode when the rat killed the cat. It cuts to that shot as the blonde guy says "it'll kill me", as the camera reminds us of what shimmer can do.
@Noonejdgdv2 жыл бұрын
I interpreted Silco throwing the knife as him showing the kid what true power is. He takes the knife pondering it making him remember what power really is, knives are an easy way to get power and people to fear you and Silco throwing it aside and proceeding to talk about power is a way to show what he thinks of power and the real way to achieve it.

Please do more! I've been waiting for videos that take a closer look at the editing, themes and just film making as a whole in Arcane. Because the series is full of great little details that I don't see a lot of people talk about.

When you think about how much time and effort went into every single shot, every image, background, animation, text and so on. It's crazy! No wonder it took them years to complete Arcane. Arcane is full of detail, careful thoughts and heart. Every scene is important and in every scene, there are secrets and details to discover.

I watched a lot of videos about arcane, and it's just incredible for how many factors were analyzed, character design, animation, editing, storytelling, lore, psychological tricks, facial expressions, music, relationships, foreshadowing, choreography, and this is just the tip of the iceberg, the number of people who made analyzes on all these different aspects of the series, and the number of people who watched them, once again confirms the fact that this series is perfectly worked out in everything, this is the best series that has ever existed

If I can offer a slight critique on your commentary though, you might wanna edit out any “um”s or pauses to make your points flow a bit more cleanly. If you didn’t use a script, that may also help to reduce the pauses. Just a critique, do with it what you will, but I hope to see more content from you!

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there - Silco isn't talking about himself in the part where he's lookong at the fish, he's talking about the people of Zaun in general. The Pilties see them as monsters, when they even see them at all.

Most likely way to much reading into such minor details not meaning as much. Its like poem interpretations of whoever. If they say the grass is green, they probably mean the grass is green, not an Essay about the meaning of the colour green.
@matthewknudson86103 жыл бұрын
Fundamental difference between reading ( using imagination) and interpreting editing choices alongside painfully hand animated features. You can misinterpret or bring your own view onto a “poem”. That’s the point. You can’t when it comes to something this deliberate and loaded with meaning. By that logic you are saying they could just make the entire show in shot/ reverse shot with close ups and it would have the exact same emotional impact. Editing is a understated part of T.V, and it’s value cannot be translated to reading. Keep in open mind and you’ll be surprised.
