I love this whole segment because I think it feels like the first time Silco REALLY starts to realize how badly he fucked up by pushing Jinx further into madness. I think he truly cared for her, but he also enabled her worst nightmares and delusions. She was useful to him ruthless, and it meant following in his own footsteps, which ofc he would like given that he could relate to her after the whole mess at the start. And then there's Vi, who loves her deeply but keeps trying to force her into a mold she doesn't fit anymore, and can't seem to understand how deeply broken Jinx is. All of this is so fucking sad.

She plays it off better than Jinx, but she's fucked up too and she never got a chance to finish growing up and maturing in the real world. It makes sense that she's kind of stuck in the past. That's when her life got put on hold.

Vi was DETERMINED to make it back to Jinx, literally outlined in the scene right before this. "The only thing that kept me going was getting back to you" Vi did not want to leave Powder, she was willing to leave Caitlyn, just not kill her. Feel free to tell me that Jinx needed to bargain for Vi to choose her though. EDIT: Going back through your reply, she's not limit testing, she feels like she's being replaced and tries to bargain with Vi that she is the right choice and not Cait, despite them having 2 completely different relationship dynamics (Lovers vs Sisters). The only thing that Jinx can't see is the nuance cait's character holds in the story, she's the only enforcer who's trying to actively look out for Zaun with literally no kick back.

At the end of the episode where powder kills everyone, she is so excited and describes to Vi that her monkey bomb finally worked, without knowing that she has killed her people. Vi then screams at her and slaps her saying it was her fault and that she is a jinx. In Powder's mind Vi should have been there for her instead of lashing out when she did it because she did it with good intentions. And after that Vi leaves her to die at the hands of Silco (partially because she is knocked out by the enforcer) and you even see Silco trying to kill Powder with a knife at his back. But powder in her state of disarray, accepts literally anything and therefore hugs Silco (maybe) even after knowing that her people's death was because of Silco directly, leading her to use those crystal bombs to save everyone in the first place. Why do you think that is? Cause she is filled with pure hatred. You can even see the red eye at the very last moment of the episode. She is filled with pure hatred that Vi left her and didn't love/console her. All Powder wanted was for Vi to be there for her even after knowing what powder accidentally with good intentions do. That part of Powder never left her as she transformed into the Jinx as we know. The part of Jinx that wanted Vi back wants to compensate for that to really determine that Vi actually still loves her because Powder still thinks that sisterly love should triumph everything at all costs. That's the only family she has left. If Vi can't come to terms with that, Jinx is gonna rain down pure destruction at the root cause of it all... the reason why undercity exists in the first place: Piltover. It's as simple as that. The fact that you don't understand all of this speaks volumes regarding the grey matter that's hopefully still left in your brain.

It's clear from POWDERS perspective that she thinks Vi abandoned her. It's completely reasonable to lash out after someone, I dunno, accidentally kills your entire family, that might just be me though. What my initial statement said was that Jinx felt the need to bargain, because she has preconceived notions about how Vi feels, and is ultimately WRONG. Vi still loves Powder and Jinx, and still wants to help her. Jinx/Powder still loves Vi, to the point where she named her mini gun after Vi's pet name for her, basically personifying her younger self. In reality Jinx is beyond Vi's help as she's written with near textbook Schizophrenia. You're saying Vi either doesn't or can't still care about Jinx, and that's literally just wrong, thats quite frankly the entire plot of act 1 and act 3. Theres a reason even in a scary setting when Jinx asks "Are we still sisters" and Vi says "Nothing will EVER change that" Like you're saying that Vi intentionally left Powder to die at the hands of Silco, when the entire building just blew up, and everyone died. It'd be incredulous to think that a detonating building anyone would be left alive, it's fair to think that Vi thought Silco and his goons were dead too. Again highlighted by the panic and desperation in her eyes when she saw Powder being approached and tried to run to save her. Their entire story is everything going VERY right in the complete wrong way over and over.

May I point out another cool detail, When Jynx used the Atlas Gauntlets(The left gloves anti-gravity system is destroyed) to carry the plate. And when she dropped the gauntlets, she twists and fiddles with her wrist meaning. IT WAS FUCKING HEAVY, SO THAT MEANS SHE CAN WIELD THE GAUNTLETS WITHOUT THE ANTI-GRAV SYSTEM ACTIVE! Facts that’s what I’ve been trying to tell people, those lines are the strongest lines in that scene because even though vi had seen jinx being ruthless and crazy, even though she’s seen that’s she not the same anymore she still tells her that no matter what happens they will always be sisters, meaning that she will always love her. I think In season 2 vi is obviously gonna have a hard time on her hands with trying to fix her relationship with jinx and struggling with piltover because they are probably gonna be after jinx.

2:04-2:13 The way she delivers that line doesn't really feel like an ultimatum. There's a shakiness in her voice that betrays desperate call for help. She wants to loved so bad that she just can't stand the idea of someone else sharing Vi's attention. To be honest that specific moment generates more sympathy than horror, at least in my opinion. Perfectly executed scene.

She's not demanding Vi to pick her over Caitlin. She's demanding Vi to pick Powder or Jinx. To send one of them on her way. Everyone who cared about Jinx/Powder and Vi were there. It was a call for help, of which Vi denied because she thought it was a request for Cait to die. It's the cut to the chair saying Jinx that does it. Powder wants her sister, but in the end her sister rejects Powder and Silco accepts Jinx. So Powder is sent on her way and all that is left is Jinx.

Wanna know a cool detail? Jinx is all hopped up on Shimmer. And one of Vis Gauntlets got busted during her fight with Sevika making it useless. Here, jinx is using BOTH gauntlets to carry the dome covered tray. The fact that she's using the busted gauntlet shows how strong the shimmer made her. Bc of the Gemstone the Guantlets have a sort of Anti gravity field around them that makes them light as a feather. But when they're off they're about as heavy as a forty five pound weight maybe more. Point is, it should be impossible to lift a turned off Gauntlet with one hand.

Interesting point but she's also been lugging Pow Pow around for several episodes prior to her operation so she's clearly much stronger than she seems. Also, and this is completely semantics here, when wearing the gauntlets the weight would be distributed along her arm (think chain mail) so it' not like she's lifting the entire weight with just her hand. Even so, after she drops them you can see her shake her hand as if it's sore so they're clearly still very heavy.

It’s heartbreaking that even though vi wasn’t lying, jinx doesn’t know if she can trust her sister. It’s heartbreaking that she believes vi cares more for Caitlyn then her so she feels that Caitlyn has to be gone for her sister to care for her. It’s heartbreaking to think of all the stress and confusion jinx must be in trying to figure out what’s true or not (especially later in the scene). It’s just all heartbreaking.

True. And honestly, that's why I hate Silco and Sevika so much. Both are architects of the separation of Vi and Jinx, both cause the rift between them to grow. Sevika for sadistic reasons, Silco for self-obsessed and sadistic reasons (the latter in regards to Vi). Both of them feed the pain of Jinx's trauma and fear that her sister will leave her again, when she never did in the first place. At the beginning of the dinner I thought Jinx was finally able to process the fact that Silco was the mastermind of her family's death, her unintentional part in it and her separation from Vi ('he took everything from us...'). But when he starts speaking and repeats the lies he has been telling her for years, painting Vi as the villain without a shred of remorse for the trauma he caused Jinx (I refuse to call her his daughter), it starts Jinx's trauma again. I didn't shed a tear for his death (burn in hell bastard!), but I was sad that Jinx now feels she has to avenge him and carry out the mission he wanted her to complete, but he himself had neither the skill, the strength or the guts to do himself. He kept using her or his thugs instead of getting his own hands dirty, using lies, promises, threats and manipulations. I truly hope Jinx will be able to break from that hold he had over her.

1:13 I love the idea that after nearly dying and recovering from shimmer based surgery the night before, Jinx went around to Caitlyn's, watched her shower, knocked her out, carried her naked unconscious body somewhere, dressed her, tied her up, then spent an hour or two baking cupcakes just so she could have a dramatic reveal of her hextech crystal. And still found the time to go kidnap her own sister & drug her adoptive father. If anything moulded her, it was Silco's lies and manipulations with regards to the events of episode 3. He orchestrated everything, planned to kill Vander alongside the children he adopted and planned to kill Powder/Jinx as well before he saw himself in her. He never once took an ounce of responsibility for his role in her grief, nor any other action for that matter. Instead he distorts Jinx's memories of her family ('Vander wasn't the man you thought he was, have you forgotten how [your sister] left you'). He makes her distrust any other person except him, this ensures that Jinx isn't able to proces the grief and guilt she feels ever since that night, not without admitting to herself that Silco was the direct cause of it. What I find so repelling is that during episode 6 Silco gloats about turning Powder against her family by 'freeing' her from her attachments to her 'second hand family' and that she is his now, while at the same time mocking Vi for not being strong enough to save Vander and for driving her sister away. NOTICE how he doesn't once blame her for abandoning her sister, he simply states that she was not strong enough to keep her. This shows he KNOWS that Vi didn't truly abandon Jinx, and that all the time he tells her Vi did leave her were lies, manipulating the girl he orphaned to keep her by his side. Jinx herself admits this in the beginning ('all the time saying you abandoned me when he knew the truth, ...liar'). The great tragedy of Arcane I find is that Jinx is either unable or unwilling to let go of that world philosophy that Silco has fed her for years, that he is the only person she can trust (and that by killing him to save Vi, she has now lost that). I agree with your hope for the future that Jinx will be able to trust Vi again and break free from the shadow of Silco and the feeling that she now has to do everything to fulfil his wishes (I fear that will be the strongest voice inside her head next season). If anyone can break through this it is Vi, but sadly so far she doesn't now how to because she doesn't understand yet how broken Jinx is. I hope for a reconciliation at some point, but knowing Arcane I fear more trauma. I do hope Vi does go on the attack at one point. Jinx keeps blaming her for feeling replaced, but Vi can point out that Jinx replaced Vi and the rest of their family for the people who tried to kill their family (and succeeded with Vander and Benzo).

I agree with you, people say that Silco was the best best dad but it's so wrong he pushed down his ideology onto jinx, gaslighted her against her family. kept on manipulating her towards them, He never held her accountable for the wrong things she did. He used her even though he loved her (obviously in the wrong ways). I love how their father and daughter relationship onscreen is weird, the way Silco portrays parental love deliberately makes the audience uncomfortable because I think Silco didn't have any kind of figure like that, He never understood how to show love, what is platonic and what is romantic. He was a traumatized person and we know how parenting goes like when the parent is like that. It's just sad but can't deny the story doesn't feel forced, characters and their idiosyncrasies feel natural. I feel you, that is the reason why I never want to raise a family until I'm mentally stable so that I don't pass down any wrong practices or the trauma. The way powder acts or feels comes from abandonment trauma. As silco gaslighted her into thinking that Vi left her. for years she became insecure thinking Vi left her because she wasn't worthy that's why she constantly tries to show Silco her worth so that he doesn't replace her. Of course for the plot making everything right, powder trusting Vi again wouldn't be interesting enough. I think powder will trust her for a while but another misunderstanding would surface and everything will collapse

What I find most repelling about Silco is that when Jinx confesses she cannot work on the gemstone because of her trauma, his 'solution' is to redirect her trauma towards Vi and her 'betrayal' and to corrupt her view of Vander and the rest of her 'second hand family'. The next episode however he gloats at Vi that he 'freed' Jinx from her trauma by destroying her trust and feelings towards her (real) family by letting 'Powder' die. The absolute relish in his voice as he tells Vi that the price of her 'second hand family' and her skills are now all his. He doesn't once bring up his belief that Vi abandoned Powder, he simply mocks Vi for not being strong enough to save Vander and that reacting to the trauma HE caused drove her sister into his arms. Next episode however he suddenly tells Jinx that Vi only came back for the gemstone, only to change it during the last episode and say Vi would abandon her again. He mocks one sister for the trauma he caused and twists and manipulates another, fully aware that he is lying but so consumed by his own skewed worldview that he believes his own bullshit. Refusing to let Powder/Jinx deal with her trauma (and his role in it) but instead choosing to bury it, is like a drug that Jinx is taking. It works a short time, but eventually the pain comes back stronger. Notice how the voices keep getting stronger and more intense (sure, the shimmer surgery has something to with it as well, but it happened before that too). Silco does to Jinx what he does to the lanes, creating a dependency on him to survive. You need only look at the state of the lanes and Jinx to see how he corrupts everything he touches (if anything he should bear the name Jinx). I don't know about you, but I'm curious about the true relationship between Vander and Silco and their violent end. We only hear Silco tell his perspective, but given his skewed view on the events of episode 3 I'm not inclined to take the word of a proven liar and manipulator. Vander and Vi are like magnets, when something bad happens, they feel responsible. Notice that when Vi reunites with Ekko she feels guilty for not being there for him, but Ekko says that it isn't her fault because she was in jail and feeling responsible will drive her crazy. Silco however doesn't once feel remorse for mistakes, instead he blames others and portrays himself as the victim to justify his cruelty. I get a 'Magneto and professor X' feeling form Silco and Vander; former close friends whose different views on how to achieve their goals led them to conflict. I think Vanders choice to prioritise his family over the lanes also made Siclo decide to kill them all in front of Vander (that includes Jinx, for all the Silco lovers who conveniently overlook that fact or simply state that he saved her. You can't save someone from a trauma that YOU caused). I too hope for an eventual reunion of the sisters (and Ekko), but I doubt it will happen anytime soon (if at all). Silco's lies that only he could love Jinx and now she killed him, have made Jinx believe that she now has to carry out the legacy of the man who 'took everything from us'. I truly hope that she will break free from that belief. There are real-life cases where children are kidnapped or somehow fall into the hands of sociopaths who break their desire for their families by telling them that they are no longer loved or that they have a new family now. It makes Silco on of my most hated villains in all of history (including Joffrey and Ramsay from GOT), but also a very unique villain.

I think we might get a look inside Silco and Vander's past relationship through Vander's perspective when he is Warwick and then we might get to explore the story, can't really trust Silco with it cause as you mentioned he's manipulative. Silco is the villain of the story for a reason. He gaslights others around him to get whatever he wants. He manipulated Jinx to make her work as he desired when he claimed that he loved her makes me wonder if he is aware of him gaslighting others or it just became so much of him that he doesn't recognize his evil techniques and is in a delusion that he's the right one and the good one. He firmly believes that he's doing the right and for the better and that is why it was so hard to convince him otherwise Vi unconsciously picked up on Vander's traits as she looked up to him as a kid and wanted to be like him to protect Powder. And it's gonna break my heart when she gets to interact with him again during her missions. I highly doubt any positive reunion would occur between the sisters because of the lore and the plot but oh wouldn't it be great to see that.

The snack scene is sooo well done, so many layers to it. The flash of Caitlyn from when she and Vi were lying on her bed, in that moment we were in Vi's head seeing what she was thinking about: the last tender moment between the two of them. And then the trick that's played on both Vi and us, the writers know their audience is smart enough to think "maybe Jinx is crazy enough to cut Caitlyn's head off" and pick up on the fact that Vi is thinking the same thing. But while its played off as a joke with the cupcake, its all part of Jinx's test for Vi, and both she and the audience fails it. It showed that despite Vi's words about them still being sisters, she honestly thinks Jinx is capable of serving Caitlyn's head on a silver platter.

Yeah she may feel that way.. but pretty much every single moment in the show that Vi has had to choose between Caitlyn and Powder, she's chosen Powder. Before the firelights showed up she didn't give a darn about the gem crystal she just wanted Powder back. When they were about to cross the bridge to go take the damning evidence to Jayce.. she decided to stay behind to stay with Powder. Powder literally shoots at her and an injured Caitlyn but Vi still has faith in her. The ONLY time that Vi didn't, was when Jinx wanted her to kill Caitlyn. That's it. And it shouldn't have been a decision she had to make given she'd pretty much proven time and time again her priority was Powder. But Powder didn't see it that way due to her warped frame of thinking.

I love how she tooks the atlas gauntlets as oven gloves 😂😂😂 you can also see a little bit smoke coming off the plate 🥲 Plot : she hates Cait because she took her place as little protected sis'. Someone took Vi away again from her. I suppose everytime she went angry you can also hear "Milo ghost" talking to her about Cait' / The death of Milo-Vander-Glaggor (also her parents) have been transformed into a big angst. (They talk with her because she feels so gulty about their death). I don't know if we will see them again since she has seen that Vi isn't dead or disappeared.

Vi was also willing to drop everything and leave with her (only for Silco to ruin by gaslighting her fears and reinforcing the lie that he's been telling her for years, that only he can love her). Vi just isn't willing to kill Caitlyn, cause she has grown to love her as well. Vi is willing to kill, just look at the warehouse fight in episode 3, some goons were killed in the explosion, others by Vander, but Vi killed some as well (notice how some thugs get back up but others stay dead). In episode 6 she brings down a whole building on 3 addict monsters, I don't see them surviving such an impact. And then there is the wonderful fight in episode 8 against the chemtanks. Even when Silco and his goons come there afterwards, you still see them lying there. Vi is willing to kill, she just takes no pleasure in it and doesn't do it on a whim. She fights Siclo's goons who are trying to kill her and those she loves. She just can't kill someone she loves for someone else she loves, that's why she comes up with the solution that keeps both of them alive. The fact that Silco ruined the trust and bond between Vi and Jinx when they were so close to reconnecting (especially when Jinx admitted that Silco 'took everything from us', is what I find heartbreaking. I hope that the two of them will find some path forward again...

It's a delicate situation where Jinx has everyone at literal gun point. Not a single word was said and Jinx still snapshot one of the inanimate guests in the face. It's fair to assume that if Vi got into a verbal sparring match with Silco, the rising tension could've easily tipped Jinx into a frenzy, and this tea party would've gotten so much bloodier...

@@Masternecron247 I understand your point, but this still felt out of vis character and forced, considering her impulsive personality. You need to consider that on the other side of the table you have the person that you hate most, that is right now trying to took away your sister by using her biggest insecurities and fears, completely trying to manipulate her on believing that she got abandoned by her and that she will do it again ( thought that silco always tried to push into powders mind, and everytime use to manipulate her to get her on his side ). Considering the last vanders words ( take care of powder ) and what vi saw in the last scene while fighting sevika ( vander saying " she still needs you" ), there is no universe in which vi just stay there saying basicaly nothing all the time and let silco take the lead on the conversation. I truly felt like vi saying nothing is truly like abandoning her sister for the first time. Look at the last scene, when powder was leaving, she gives a last look in vi's eyes before turning away and i feel like she was thinking : " are you really letting me go like that?" ( she does indeed felt disappointed at that point, and then she cries while shooting the rocket... The vi that we know woulda break herself out of the chair with her tooths to stop powder here).. then again.. the bad ending was just something needed to be done to keep the emotional impact high to the second season.
