What’s crazy is that Ekko had actually used the same rune that was given to Jayce by future Viktor to create the Z Drive. Him and Heim talk about it in ep 7. Everything literally all comes back to that rune.

I just realized why the Z drive acted like that with Viktor's Hex tech. Why he said "That device can't be...". If you remember in episode 7, when Heimer asked Ekko how he recreated the anomaly, he said he was making inversions of Jayce's runes. In that sense, the wild rune in the Z drive is actually the antimatter to Viktor's corrupted Hexcore. Together, the two runic powers of opposing polarities cancelled each other out, and Viktor was able to emerge from within his corruption. That makes so much sense in that context, you can't help but marvel at how they were able to weave that into that story. Not to mention, the wild hexcore brought them all into different futures, but Ekko's Z drive was able to go back to the past, and them meeting halfway would imply the intermediate present is bonkers! There's just layers and layers upon layers of nuance in this show.

That's amazing. Now that you say that I believe there's more instances of that rune coming close to the corrupted hexcore and then becoming violent. (When Jayce comes close) In hindsight that makes so much sense. Maybe also why he could not pick up his old weapon anymore since it started glitching.

Ekko and Heimerdinger the MVPs of the story and season, only characters to get out mostly unscathed by writing decisions. Everything in episode 7 was so good in setting up the weight and catharsis of this moment, utterly earned.

So to my understanding, the reason Ekko was able to turn the clock back more than 4 seconds without consequences was that everyone else in proximity was either under Viktor's stasis or a machine? And therefore immortal. If Ekko had done this while near people who weren't under Viktor's control, their heads would've exploded like we saw with Heimerdinger, right?

Exactly but I also think the reason why everyone did not die at that moment was because Victor was in control so Victor took on most of the explosion. But it's because of that explosion that Victor was able to break the mutation and talk to Jayce about stopping everything.

No it did have consequences. Jayce got nuked. You're probably thinking if he tries to rewind more than 4 seconds, the device just explodes instead of going back in time. What actually happens is that he still rewinds back to the past and THEN the device explodes. Ekko rewinded back to the past where he was close to victor so that the device was close to him. And then it exploded. Only jayce and Viktor were in proximity of the explosion.
