From where I am standing the various payoffs do not match the builds, if you want your grand final to focus on the Arcane, fine then build to that, make it the A plot, make Jacye and Victor your main characters of focus, don't do the late shift, it just hurts the over all product. If you want to keep Cait, Jinx and Vi as the characters with the most of your investment in resources then for the love of god intergrade them into your final battle better and make sure the charachter with the most screen time actually gets a proper payoff to her arc. @@GenerationOffended Do you know the star wars work by Honeycut videos, Anomaly Inc and Rick Worley? Do you know the few star wars novels/Audiobooks written with Lucas ("Darth Plagueis", "Shatterpoint", "Labyrinth of Evil" & the six movie novelizations by Alan Dean Foster, Donald F. Glut, James Kahn, Terry Brooks, R. A. Salvatore and Matthew Stover? Do you read the star wars heresies or the making of books by J. W. Rinzler. And don't forget: I wonder: how many people would even know what I’m referencing when I talk about “Canyon Cinema” or “Tone poems”. Lucas of course has his own ideas on film, as these favorite quotes of mine show: “But in my films, the dialogue is not where the movie is. My films are basically in the graphics. The emotional impact comes from the music - and from juxtaposing one image with the next” and “I’m not known for my dialogue. I think of it as a sound effect, a rhythm, a vocal chorus in the overall soundtrack. Mostly, everything is visual”. And: "The first script I wrote had stories for everybody… and I cut it down and we had a script. But when we cut it together, there were still problems. Finally, I said: Okay, let’s be even more hard-nosed here and take out every scene that doesn’t have anything to do with Anakin. But that causes you to juxtapose certain scenes that you were never contemplating juxtaposing before. And these scenes take on different qualities than before, because the scenes were never meant to be next to each other. In one case, there was supposed to be a scene with Padmé and Bail Organa between two Anakin scenes, because we were following her story along with his. And when most of those scenes were cut out, suddenly all sorts of weird things started to happen that weren’t intended in the script - but in some cases it worked much better. What happens is that some of the themes grab hold of each other and really strengthen themselves in ways that are fascinating. You pull things together and suddenly a theme is drawn out because it’s in three consecutive scenes instead of just one. Suddenly one theme is infinitely stronger than it was before, so we’ll strengthen that theme because it seems poetic."

The multiverse thing is such a slap in the face. I couldnt care less about a universe where "everything is magically perfect" when it comes to a story like Arcane. What are we supposed to do with that... We want to know how things could get better for the cities and the characters taking into consideration THEIR reality and circonstances. Just like Jinx saying "there are no good versions of me". I couldnt care less about an AU Powder that is not Jinx. She just didnt have the same life as Jinx and Jinx could never be her because it would require that she erase all her past trauma. And this AU Powder was not even realistic because even Powder before Vi's death or Vander's and the boys' death was more instable than this Powder. The audience and the characters are smart enough to know that if EVERYTHING was different, then they would be different people. It's not a helpful concept at all. Specially Ekko. He is a smart dude. He knows Jinx became Jinx because of trauma. So getting to know a non destructive version of her should not have been surprising or life changing at all. The best thing he can get from it is a little bit more compassion for Jinx, but if Jinx had not gone through her (bad) redemption arc in act 2, Ekko's compassion would have melted in a couple days! In real life, fantasies about alternate perfect us dont help people at all. This was so childish and i'm still pissed.

I feel compelled to defend Amanda Overton here. It's easy to dump on her writing contribution in this season but I feel that doesn't address the much larger issue plaguing this season. A lot of the problems with this season can be attributed to its rushed writing. And the reason why it was rushed is because the show didn't have enough time and space for its character arcs and plotlines to breathe. I'm of the very strong opinion the show needed three seasons to tell its story properly. Amanda Overton and the other writers were very much hamstrung by this tight timeframe, resulting in inevitably crappy writing, forcing characters through predetermined plotlines without the luxury of genuine authentic character progression to meet those plot points naturally. Personally, I think it's more sensible to pin all of this on Christian Linke and/or Alex Yee. They're the ones helming the ship. They're the ones telling the writers the trajectory of the story. They're the ones who decided "yeah, lets do two seasons then leave this story behind". It feels obvious to me that Amanda and the other writers don't have the power to influence how many seasons the show should have

Cuz i still have no logical reason, it seemed like the writers of S1 had a good idea of who vander character is and they had set up much deeper lore and stories that S2 came in and not only entirely removed this important part of character development but replaced it with crappy 1 dimensional character that was always "peaceful and father" its so triggering the missed opportunity So let me sum it up for u, the vander versions we saw in s1 [Young vander drowning young silco] The reason behind this betrayal is still unknown for me, tho i confidently say the og writers intended a deeper story to tell that was cut off [Prime vander leading the violent revolution] ama Hound of the underground Happened years after the betrayal, It was apparent that its vander who got vi n jinx parents killed cuz he led them to it, he was unfamiliar with the kids but he knew their parents, tho i can also confidently day the og writers intended vander to know every person in his rebellion just like a proper leader, it wasn't necessary cuz he specifically had a personal relationship with vi n jinx mother (to the point he even named vi lol i cba) this violent side of vander was also set up for a deeper lore from the og writers that was completely cut off in s2, its also the essence of his upcoming warwick transformation (read the original warwick lore to get a better idea) [Old vander turning pacifist and wise/more considerate] Vander had a change of heart, and it wasn't because he had a promise or was always obligated to raise vi and powder, No! It was because he did it out of his own will, S1 also emphasized this by showing milo and clag, had milo and clag were champs in league would the show also make vander personally know their mothers? This is beyond ridiculous to me, vander was a big figure and looked upon by all of zaun To end it, silco also backed this up and said this in s1 e3 "I hated you [Young vander] but you kept my respect [Prime vander against piltover] until you made peace with them [Old pacifist vander] played lapdog after everything we suffered" so this quote suggests that silco despite vander brutally tortured and almost killed him still respected him years after that cuz he was leading peak zaun revolution, but his despise only came after he took in the children and stroke a secret deal with piltover sheriff Do u see how much of a character assassination was done here? And dont get me started on Warwick arc... Jesus christ man...

i think it speaks volumes that the writers thought zaun would flourish if a few individuals made different choices and hextech was never invented, which is just not how oppression and classism works at all. no wonder they abandoned the class conflict story - they didn't understand it. great video.
@GenerationOffended16 күн бұрын
They had to rework the entire plot to avoid this epic class conflict which destroyed every character and every sub plot. You’re totally right they didn’t understand it, getting rid of Hextech wouldn’t solve all the problems, if any. The class war was already there before Hextech was created.

Man, you have no idea how much your videos helped me. Everytime that I tried to speak or write to others about the problems of this show, (the writing issues, the terrible characters arcs, nonsense development ecc...) I have been called names and fussy, to the point that I started to believe that I was in the wrong, that I needed to shut up about it and accept that this season was peak storytelling, the best of the best, absolute perfection. Still, I found someone else who was not blinded by the animations (which are fire and incredible) and had enough brain to question a show that has been blindly idolized to the point of nausea. I Know that they have to rush the story due to budgets cuts...but I can't excuse every single mistake, lack of credibility and poor perspective and development to that. It's not my job as a viewer to racks my brains out to justify and accept everything that is "crooked" in a story. Sadly for me, I have lost hype for the next show about Noxus, since I have been so embittered by this season and how they treated this rare Hextech Gem (hahaha what a joke, i should become a MCU writer) of narration. Thanks to you, I feel more relieved. Excellent job 🦾

I want to add another unexplored plot twist. The nature of the Hexcore that Victor merges with. In the first season, it seemed to me that the scriptwriters were preparing the ground for "The Void" as the main antagonist of the second season. I hadn't even heard of the void back then, as I was completely ignorant of League of Legends lore. But even with no information which i have got later, as for me, the core were showing suspicious features, seeming intelligence, and the ability to broadcast the unintelligible "call" of something otherworldly. For the entire second season, I expected Victor to be a victim of the corruption of the demons of the void, and he would have to "usher in total oblivion across Runeterra". But nooo, he just had stupid ass character development offscreen and he got a brain rotting backflip of motivation covered with "who-hoo wise and complex riddle-gibberish" supported by dimension and time travel. That sucks so much and I hate being caught in these emotional traps all over season 2. Now i think that season 2 was only designed to be emotional bait to sell all new skins of LoL characters and product promotion. They lured us whith season 1 and tortured our good memories in the season 2. The main purpose of season 2 is to provide screentime for every new costume of characters to be sold later. The story is a secondary here, maybe season 1 scriptwriters left the team as soon as producers mentioned it.

Wouldn’t Vi want to go find her sister? Would she be worried and for good reason that Jynx is going to something bad after her cryptic comment about ending the cycle? No? There are three questions that the show did not answer . 1-Do people know that Jinx killed Silco especially Sevika ? Maybe she knows because during the fight opposing Cait and Vi VS Sevika and Jinx , Jinx admits aloud that she orphaned herself twice . But why is she supporting her ? That's a mystery . 2-Do people know that Vi is Jinx's sister in Piltover ? Tobias did not like that Vi was in the mansion after the funeral but we do not know if it is because he does not want a stranger into such an intimate moment , if it is because she is a Zaunite as Jinx or because he knows she linked to his wife's murderer . What about Cait's squad ? Piltover in general ? What do they think about that ? Vi should have a whole arc about her becoming an Enforcer as a Zaunite but also as Jinx's sister . When Vi wakes up in Cait's bed it seems that Loris knows that Jinx is Vi' s sister but we could imagined that Vi confessed things to him during the montage but who knows ? 3- Do people know that Cait and Vi are attracted to each other ? Except in S1 when Cait left with Ekko on the the bridge , these two are pretty lowkey . Their intimate moments are in private . Or maybe when Cait dismissed her future squad to speak to Vi after the memorial attack and Vi caress her cheek it was seen by them , but again who knows ? Maddie is accused to have taken advantage of Cait despite knowing that Cait is in love with Vi but except that Cait recognizes the strength and bravoure of Vi , how can she know that these two are in love ?

You also forgot: Vi never finds out Jayce was the one who k1lled Vander by terminating Viktor. Jayce is responsible for bringing in the automatons and no one calls him out for it. Not even Mel, the woman HE blames for "manipulation" when he literally ended the world. Imagine if Vi found out what he did; she'd never ally with him.
@Of_infinite_Faith23 күн бұрын
No Jayce wasn't responsible for that. Singed was the one who set Vander off. Also Vi was an idiot to think reviving Vander was ever gonna work. He's a fucking wolf now. Even if Viktor did manage, Vander would just be another lobotomized cult follower. Nothing was gonna work. Jayce also did have a right to be mad, he was suffering from survivors guilt ALL season. He was visibly disabled with a big brace on his leg, he looked sleep deprived and Mel doesn't even push for answers after he says "it doesn't matter". She looks even more glamorous than before like nothing even happened to her, she looks like she had a great time but everyone is mad at Jayce for not immediately assuming that she was in a magic cell. Meanwhile Mel ignores jayce's visible injury to talk about herself. Makes her look awfully selfish. And they even had Jayce apologize for being traumatized. To blame Jayce for Vander is dumb bc we know it was never gonna work anyway. And it's not like Jayce was even aware of Vander and Warwick shit or even that Vi was there. Idk why the fandom acts like Jayce is omniscient. To blame him for Vander is dumb because he had no idea, AND he was barely sane after the months of being trapped in isolation inside a pit with an awful injury.

7:49 this could be a tinfoil hat theory, with how much this season favors fan service, I’m convinced the separation of Mel and Jayce has to do with just how popular Jayvik is in the fandom, that’s something I noticed a lot in season two, characters, their motivations, and their stories are forcibly changed to get as much ship related fanservice as possible Vi, and Ekko are the biggest examples to me, as both of their characters feel reduced to being one half of a romantic subplot/ship. The firelights are completely removed from Ekko’s story to focus more on him being in love with powder, which btw, was not hinted at in season one, but is something PULLED FROM THE GAMES, with no build up in the actual show (And I say that as a fan of timebomb, and no I don’t think the bridge scene counts as romantic confirmation) Vi is completely compromised as a character to justify her still being with Caitlin and brushing all of her fascist dictator actions under the rug. I hate that her essentially losing powder AGAIN is seen as okay because “oh she has Caitlin and she’s obviously more important”, the show ends how it started, jinx and vi losing each other, it feels weak, if we’re following the theory that’s basically confirmed by the writers around, that jinx escapes the explosion and is on the airship, that I think the ending would’ve been better if vi went after jinx and they both fell and jinx got them both out and they left Piltover together ( tho I probably wouldn’t have them fight Vander in the finale at all since yaknow, it completely separated them from the main story going on) Mel and Jayce’s relationship, hell Mel as a character suffers this too, is thrown out the window to give Jayce and Viktor as tied together as possible (tho obviously not romantically canon) It’s something that really bothers me especially since if you point this out, the fandom is quick to dog pile you, especially caitvi fans who are quick to call you homophobic for even slightly criticizing the ship, and if you ARE lgbt and still criticize the ship, you must hate yourself….😐😑😐
@blacktigerpaw117 күн бұрын
It's not really a tinfoil hat theory since Amanda admitted Mel was the "disposable black girlfriend." But the two seasons were written back to back so the JayVik fandom wouldn't have influenced it. This is great for clearing up some of those weird, bittersweet feelings we sometimes get while watching a show but can’t quite put into words why it feels bad-usually simplifying it to “idk, feels rushed”. now, idk if you’re into anime, but a show I'd like for you to make a review would be "To Your Eternity". It started off great but was followed by some of the worst media I've ever seen for a second season. That or you could take on a harder and more controversial opinion and agree with me that Vinland Saga, both S1 and the so-acclaimed S2, were actually trash. and for a story based game, I would say Detroit: Become Human. I found it also started with an incredible premise and had a strong opening, but blew it with a lot of cliches and lazy writing along the way. Thanks for watching! It was a real pleasure to make these videos. I already made a series on HOTD Season 2. That show was another letdown of last year, just one bad season of television after another.

@GenerationOffended I'll have to watch it for today's coffee then haha. How about got s8 or atla live action remake. Tho I just watched on call on Amazon prime, it's pretty good, the drama and writing is right and punches the gut

at the very beginning, on the bridge, vi was pointing to herself when looking at vander, as if they already knew each other. while i do agree that silco knowing who vi and jinx were is a total retcon, part of me wonders, if the bar scene in season 2 never happened, would we ever have gotten any more info on vi and jinx's parents, the life they lived before vander took them in?

Definitely lightens the mood. RIP Arcane. I will remember you as you were (Season 1), not what you became (Season 2). If you are still taking suggestions, can you review Sonic the Hedgehog 3 or the whole trilogy, if you haven't seen any of them? Subscribed to the channel, wishing you much success with your channel!

Great video, though have to provide my pov on one moment in it which I thought might be a bit incorrect 3:20 - I used to think that S1 never established Vander knowing Vi and Powder parents. But honestly, after rewatching S1 it looks like he actually did. It's never said straightforward, but it looks like it's heavily implied in both bridge scenes (the opening and when Vander takes Vi out for a talk). Like why Vi would ask a complete stranger question «Where's mum», abd why then Vander looks up exactly in direction where their parents are. For him to know who are their parents he must know them at least a little bit. Same with the scene on the bridge. He once again brings up Vi's parents death. However it is quite possible they weren't really close though. I believe originally Vander life wasn't far different from what we see in Ep1-Ep3. He's a leader that knows everyone and tries to protect everyone. So maybe he wasn't in close friendship with the girls' parents, but at least he most likely definitely knew them. Although not like established in S2 flashbacks/music videos
@GenerationOffended24 күн бұрын
To me it seemed like Vander and the e mom obviously knew each other as you said, he knew who their parents were on the bridge however it seems doubtful that they we’re supposed to be close friends like we see in S2. It makes sense that they would know each other to some degree as Vander was their leader but to be best friends? Why did Vander never bring it up in dialogue. S2 made it seem like they were the trio who took on Piltover together which certainly doesn’t work for Silco’s character. Like i said in the video it can work to some degree but it also lessens the choice Vander makes to take care of Powder and Vi because he was already obligated to.

@@stefanoterragnolo6458 I agree with that, and I'm sorry for going grammar police on you. But the correct way of saying it is: "a show THAT understands..." or; " that is a show WHICH understands...". Well at least Thanos was always a genocidal nutjob, literally the "Mad Titan". In Arcane the MCUification dragged Viktor down to make him the big bad. The piss poor flip of the switch reasoning of Ultron, mixed with the nonsensical answer for peace of Thanos, topped off with the nameless drone soldiers of the Chitauri from Avengers 1. You cannot make this up. 💀

Next Squid Game S2? It was interesting to see people hating on it so passionately, while I personally found it a worthy continuation, if not a step up from the first season. They went deeper into the game's system, explored psychology of the people working for it, against it, new character tropes / dynamics and made an even stronger point on majority decision making. My only weaker points were the votings' screen time and policeman's storyline, though the latter will probably get more attention in future episodes. Would be cool to hear your thoughts on the show.

I think Singed wouldn't want to use his blood to recall vander bc he'll go into a frenzy again and i think its fair to be scared of that. Do i know why he did it while still IN prison? nope, since he'd presumably die as well but at least he thought abt it once. great series that articulated just about everything i FELT about arcane s2 that i couldn't even fathom putting into words myself, so kudos to you and thank you for scratching that itch. Looking forward to what you'll do next! Also, in regard to multiverses, you should read "The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig. I may be biased since it brought me a lot of comfort when I needed it, so it may not be as good a story as I remember it. That said, I at least THOUGHT it was an interesting use of the multiverse to enact character development.
@raeldri586724 күн бұрын
the flashback was supposed to be a tool to show that Vander deep down was always the violent one and when he turned into Warwick he no longer can contain his violent nature intead they used as cheap fan service because "everyone likes Vander we cant show him in a negative light"
@boguslav950223 күн бұрын
Concernign the multiverse, they set it up so poorly that I genuinely thought it was the Arcane messing with them creating this "stasis" for their minds to keep them dwelling in a place so they couldn't escape and shut it down. Echoes entire introduction into that world screams this, almost as if his mind is being smothered, forced to accept the hallucination. A kind of "world of your wildest desires." thing that preys on peoples strengths nad turns them into weaknesses (echoes loyalty and Heimerdingers desire for peace). Then I was hit with the Jayce scene and I remember being completely disoriented. It seemed as if there were two forces fighting for his attention and mind and it turned into a hellscape. Only to be turned into a cheap Gotcha at the end. They didn't win, Victor won against Victor making Jayce lose all his causality. In the end the show was a girl boss show...

Which she openly admits that part of the romance between Vi and Caitlyn was because Amanda had never felt really represented in video games (as a lesbian) and thought it would be a good opportunity. In other words, all of Vi and Caitlyn's lesbian romance (which is terrible and poorly written) is 99% "self insert" and Amanda's fetish🤡👍🏻

Isha is there to create cheap drama. Vi could've easily taken the gun out of her hand and picked her up and away from the scene. Cait could have easily shot jinx right there, she was at point blank range and a pro sniper. There was no reason not to shoot, she would not have missed if vi had her instincts and snatched the gun away from isha. Also how tf did jinx, Cait and vi get away from the scene where they were absolutely surrounded by noxian soldiers? Who we can also assume had the camp surrounded from the outside? Why is commander Caitlin a patrol? She's a commander ffs.
