I’ve owned $200 Harbor Freight Welders before and never could get a good weld with it so I gave up trying. I bought this welder a few months ago because I knew I was going to need to at least tack a few things around here and I finally had a reason to use it. My exhaust manifold broke on my tractor so I had to make a new flange and pipe. With absolutely no welding experience (except trying to weld for an hour with a harbor freight ten years ago) I was able to get a decent weld on a 16ish gauge tube to a 3/8” plate and saved myself from needing to go to an exhaust shop. Now I’m confident I can weld basically anything I need to weld around the small homestead I have. Welds do look dirty and there’s a lot of spatter, haven’t tried stick yet but that will be handy for fixing gates and larger projects.

Currently, it's $139 with a $30 coupon and an additional 10% off. I just got it for little over $100. The Arccaptian wire is highly rated. I've been using it for a few years. Very low splatter. This unit has Synergy and Hot Start.

Thanks for the video. If you don't know the metal you are welding, is there a generic wire / electrode/ rod that covers all the bases?

Hey, thanks for the review I’m trying to decide between the Arccaptain and another cheap welder called SONNLER 160A MIG Welder. On paper, the Sonnler looks better as you can control more of the settings and it goes up to 160A. However, I think the Arccaptain looks to be a more quality product, and the company seems to be more established. Anyway, thank you.

I’m not familiar with that machine. I will say that ArcCaptain has sent me two machines, the one in this video and the 200 Amp stick welder. Both seem to be good quality! My biggest complaint about the Flux machine is that it’s 110 only. Thanks for watching!

Would this be a viable solution for welding aluminum?

If you have 220v you can use, the Simder. If you only plan on using 110, this is dead simple to use.

DAng I Just bought this thing and I can't figure out how to get the wire to feed through. I hope I don't have to manually push the wire through to the welding end??? I just tried that and the wire broke after about a foot of wire was in the line. So there has to be a way to feed this automatically?? I was hoping you would show how that is done. I did see it's auto feed but I don't know how to get the settings to make the knurled wheel engage...
@GarageHobbyist
@GarageHobbyist 5 ай бұрын
You just pull the trigger without contacting anything. It will feed. Just make sure you have the tension on the roller at a good spot. Wire feeding starts on page 8 of the manual.
