Sure the story makes no sense but that doesn't mean it's a bad movie
If Disney released this as a spin off or something then things would've been a lot different

cars 2 is good, i like it. But people hate it because of what could've been and now i'm slowly realising it too. WGP isn't underrated, it's the best thing of the movie and the majority of cars fans including me wanted the focus to be on WGP instead of the spy missions. This movie was McQueen's career at it's best. We needed more interactions with other racecars and we needed more of McQueen and Francesco's rivalry instead of Mater. That's where the people come from. IN regards to the franchise, this is still the worst movie among the three

Honestly, if it was revealed at the end that this was all just one of maters, tall tales, I don’t think people would have that big of an issue with the film. That way the audience themselves can decide whether or not they want to consider it canon, and it would justify any of the inconsistencies in the film they having it being meters imagination. (plus unpopular opinion I really like Mater, so I’m glad that he got to be the star for once)

Can’t forget Finn Mcmissle was the greatest character in the movie, he was sooo great, his lines, design, voice acting, and just everything was great. Finn made the movie and yes the action scenes were super awesome.

I feel like the twist of axle rod being the villian is a reason. Because, the motive kinda Dosent make sense to me. Like why would he give up his oil company to make clean energy only to want to destroy it and have cars use gasoline. That is a major plot hole for me honestly. Cars 2 isn't similar as Cars or Cars 3 and i don't care. Cars 2 is interesting movie because it's differend. It is interesting that there is another main character than Lightning. The action there is great and i just like the tension between two important characters. It's not THE best Pixar movie but it is ONE of the best.

I love this movie mainly because we got to see a different side of all of the characters. Lightning mcqueen had a bit of the "i'm famous and i don't want to be seen with little ol' town people" typical rich city guy, matter was staying true to his good roots and didn't want to let fame changes who he was. Bonus point for all of the actions and proving to all of us, it didn't take much to be a good spy, just genuine personality and effort. Radiator springs people is always a good sport. I didn't even know cars 2 got so many hate at first lol

Why include a near entire movie about Mater after we already had a really successful one about Lightning, why not expand on his legacy a bit more? Then right after this movie it cuts straight to his retirement, we only see the start and end of his career, not what unfolded within it except for very early cars 3

If you watched it just for the fun of it and ignore plot issues and focusing on Mater this is a really good movie but people cry about all the spies being stupid, Mater being the main character and such but who cares. Besides it’s targeted at kids anyway, not grown ass adults expecting a serious experience.
