For the "smart cars" section of this story: My favorite version of the Pixar Theory is the Super Carlin Brothers version, which states that, rather than being artificially intelligent machines, the cars are similar to the toys in Toy Story in that they are "powered" by humans, but while the toys are powered by human imagination, the cars are powered by human memory and take on the personality of their former owners, which is why they are so much more humanoid than just smart cars.

I have my own theory about this Cars movie: Few pasts ago, the man eating buses, or the SCP-2086 colonies that escaped from SCP Foundation has thrive out. They preying on humans, camouflage as normal buses. That's why we see no more humans, only it's remnants. However the man eating buses are bored of their old look, so they start develop and evolve their own new species. They evolve and it's no longer only buses, buses, and buses. Instead, the SCP 2086 or these man eating buses develop become cars, taxis, cranes, planes, boats, or any vehicles (etc.) that we see in Cars. Sometimes, the evolved SCP 2086 has evolved become smaller as tiny beetle cars with organic wings and some kinda a pair of antennas, while the bigger ones lose their wings.

I’ve had this one theory when I watched Cars and it was a bit weird but I’m not saying that’s what really happened so... I was only 9 when I came up with this There are no humans, right? Yet these buildings seem to be built by humans because I don’t think cars could’ve made them. So I wondered, what if the world became inhabitable for humans so someone decided to take the brains and put them into cars that could be controlled by the brain? But, they can’t remember what happened nor remember that they were humans so that’s why they never mention humans. I don’t really have much proof the clarify this but this was just a theory I’ve had when I was younger.

Um, dunno if you realize this, MatPat, but engines need oxygen to run. You actually need it to burn the fuel. Did you know that's what carburetors were for, before fuel injection was a thing? Carburetors mixed the fuel with the air in order to burn it. Because that's basic combustion - very few things in this world will burn without a supply of oxygen present. And fuel certain does not.

This kind of fits with my own theory on it as well. I've always imagined them as larva that "infect a car". In Cars 2, Mater mentions that engines are built, as are the vehicles. But we know they produce offspring because they have parents. So my own theory is when a car is born the parents place the larva in a vehicle and they grow to fit their vehicle. This is because the bugs evolved along the lines of hermit crabs and discovered vehicles to be the most protective "shell". This explains why they have both organic and inorganic parts as well as how aircraft behave. If you watch the making of videos of the first car movie they even discussed the concept of "swapping" bodies in the first line draft but dropped the concept because they didn't want to make mater the villain. My guess is the way they reproduce is near the rear of their vehicles (probably the trunk) as when those areas are displayed cars that are in view of those areas become embarrassed. Anyway, I'm sure this comment will be completely buried but as a parent who has had to watch the car series and every spin off and side story I've had some time to think about this. Another thing to think about is how they've had at least one War. I personally think that the Pixar theory is flawed in that it tries to establish it in a single time line. But if they've had a world war then they've been around a for a bit. It makes more sense if it was three convergent time lines, or parallel universes/dimensions (think upside down from stranger things [see nerdest's video on the subject]). This would explain why the pizza truck doesn't show up and why they have car versions of all of the Pixar movies Edit: thank you for proving me wrong about the "buried comment"
