My 147 2.0 150hp, leaks a lot of oil and every 2 weeks I have to add oil ! I have to have mine replaced because I don't know what damage it could do down the road. I've had these oils leaks for years and my mechanic says " don't worry, all Alfa's leak oil " Ok, What !!! I enjoy and learn a great deal watching your content, even though I'm not a mechanic myself 😊

I commented about powerloss and misfires turns out too much oil is getting to the spark plugs from the leaking of this seal and it is insane how much people charge for such a simple repair, thank you very much for showing us how to do this

@@arcgarage thanks! First of all i will clean a little bit the engine and gearbox with a brush from the outside, so it‘s not oily anymore. Then i will replace the gasket and before that i will apply a thin layer of the silicone sealent you mentioned. Hope it‘s a good plan.

Heard many people having problems with afrermarket ones. Do I need to locate an original one and if so, which brand might that be? In the last couple of years I had the gasket changed twice and still there is leakage, thought I’d give it a go myself this time…

Try to get the original one the Ricambi Originali, if you can't, get the aftermarket one like FAI, and apply a vert thin layer of automotive silicone preferably Victor Reinz. Thanks for support, Greetings my friend...

Have u ever done distribution belt (timing belt replacement on alfa Romeo gt) it would be amazing to have instructions how to do this job with least special tools as possible

I've done it numerous times without any special tools using only the markings. I am about to do the timing belts both on my GT and on 147. I got the tools now so I am probably going to use them. On the other hand I might do one of them without just for sake of the video...

hi buddy i have an alfa 147 mk1. i replaced valve cover gasket twice and changed oil with 10w60. But engine keeps leaking oil. the oil accumulates on the manifold heat shield that is shaped aluminum sheet. What is your opinion about the problem? thank you from istanbul.

Hi, Check the blow by, unscrew the oil cap as the car is running, and make sure that there isn't a lot of exhaust pressure coming out which would indicate bad piston rings. If that checks out try using a thin layer of victor reinz silicone. Also keep in mind that after you replace it, some of the old oil is going to keep on dripping for next couple of days...

You don't really need any sealant as long as you get the surfaces clean. But, you can use one if it's quality made and oil resistant. Just make sure you only apply a very thin layer...

It basically depends on the extent of the damage. If they're not too bad good body shop can fix them in a day. I had damage on mine, they were damaged by improper positioned lift arms, and I got them rewelded and painted for 60 euros... But there was only 20-30 cm of damage on each side...

It shouldn't leak oil if it has been replaced. However the oil you see might be residual oil from before...
