I owned Archer stock for a year and half but I recently dumped it. The reasons? One problem for me was the question of full test flights. There are no videos of full test flights, as others have pointed out. But perhaps even a bigger reason has to do with their planned production facility. In their self-promotion they make a big deal of their partnership with Stellantis, saying in 2023 that Stellantis is building a factory in Covington, Georgia to produce the Midnight aircraft. But where is the CURRENT (2024) information on the progress of that factory in Covington. I constantly search the internet for ANY RECENT UPDATES on the factory and I can find NO PICTURES and NO ARTICLES on the CURRENT progress of construction in Covington, GA, even though construction on the factory was SUPPOSEDLY begun LAST YEAR (2023) and is supposed to be finished THIS YEAR (2024).

Makes much more sense in flights that shorten the trip. For instance over a lake. Or bridge-less river.

So many negative comments, probably the same people who would have said electric cars are not required. Fact is whether you agree or not, the future of travel is here.

I might suggest looking into the cost and time involved in FAA certification. No one has ever completed FAA certification of an pilot-less, non-commercial (Part-91/23) eVTOL aircraft, much less to FAA part 135 Air-Taxi or 121 Airline Operation certified pilot-less Aircraft. Having been involved with aircraft development and certification, 20 years ago, costs to certify a Burn Rutan designed conventional twin-engine air-taxi aircraft, designed to meet existing FAA regulations, we stopped development after two years and $10million on paperwork alone, when just the bureaucratic costs were getting close to $100million. Also looking into fixed and variable costs might be worth considering, such as product, service liability insurance costs and battery costs on a per flight basis. If a battery pack costs $100,000 and is good for say 1,000 flights that's $100per flight. Also, the challenges of rolling out hundreds or thousands of VTOL/heliports with noise and risks to people and property on the ground. Getting air-taxi approval for existing airports is often met with huge resistance, and if you are going to use existing airports why do you need eVTOL?

from the airport: 300.00 + cost of a short trip taxi vs 55.00 (including luggage) to your final destination; A kind of expensive and inconvenient but could be a fun experience :)

Years behind JOBY, the Archer is much too heavy with inefficient motors to boot, so range will be unworkable. With all the issues, cash burn will most likely drive them into bankruptcy before the necessary design changes can be made. Interesting that they say they will be “the Uber” of the air when JOBY already owns Uber Elevate - literally the Uber of the air!

when the first automobile created, they have less range and slower than horses. People thought they are toys for the rich. EVTOL is on the same path. When it’s proven safty, the demand will raise; and i bet it will.

The ride share cost is misleading, it would cost $55 for the whole party to get to their destination. Meaning 55/4 vs paying $75 per seat on air taxi. They make $400 per trip.

@@WhenTheLionRoars You seem to lack both imagination and information friend. EVTOL'S won't just be used for taxis, but also as air ambulances. In a large city, it can take up to 50 min just for an ambulance to arrive at the scene of a medical emergency. Then another 20-40 minutes to actually transport the patient to a trauma center. Imagine that time being cut by 2/3!!!

Taxi transport? Only if the evtol can come to you. Otherwise, if you get in a car to take you to the off-sight helipad, why not just have the car carry on to where you are going, less time, less cost, less dangerous. This is another "Gee Whiz" Silicone Valley shiny object to raise money, not to ever be commercial.

The idea is they will either partner with an existing ride-share company, or simply buy a fleet electric cars themselves. The cars will pick you up and deliver you to the heliport, which will be situated in currently empty lots, parking lots or even on the rooftops of parking structures. In large cities like Chicago, LA and New York, driving to the closest airports can take 1-2 hours because of traffic. These combined drives/ flights can get you there in 30 min. All for the cost of a premium Uber trip. (BTW, the military is also interested and has placed orders. Think of them as flying hummers. 😂)
