Archer, I am a brazilian student and by the end of the year the universities give us a test of 90 questions (it includes everything that you learned in highschool, math, physics, biology, history, geography, brazilian literature (which we have to read almost 10 books), chemistry, portuguese grammar...) and an essay. After that, we have to get almost everything right to go for the second round, which is a test with discursive questions (for med, it includes math, physics, biology, geography and some literature). I have some questions for you that would help me A LOT: Do you think I can study everything that I need (almost everything we studed at high school) with active recall and spaced repetition? And how can I organize so that one day in the future I don't have to study the 2 new classes I had in the morning at school and 4 more reviews that would be spaced repetition from the classes before? Could I review all those subjects in one day? Or that's just how spaced repetition works? And how can I use active recall and spaced repetition for subjects like math, physics and chemistry, like, isn't most of these 3 subjects just memorize and understand formulas? And should I, at every math, chemistry and physics spaced repetition, do a lot of questions for what i have difficult? Wouldn't there be too many things to review in one day at the future? I hope you understand, thanks for the attention! You are a huge inspiration, thanks for the videos!
@ArcherNewton3 жыл бұрын
Hi Luiza! Awesome to hear from you and glad to hear you find my videos useful. Short answer to your question, yes and no. Even active recall and spaced repetition has it's own flaws which is why you should always have a lot of study techniques to use for particular scenarios. What I explain in this video is how you can time manage, but spaced repetition doesn't have to be so methodically planned out. Active recall is less useful with matrhs physics and chemistry because they're more conceptual which is why you want to use mindmapping and inqruiy based learning more often. I explain in my most recent video why doing lots of questions does have some limitations. Hope that helps! Please let me know any other questions you have!

Hi Victoria, make sure to watch my other videos on how to ace year 12, but really its all about setting yourself up with good study techniques and learning how to learn. You should also focus on understanding the content and not memorising it. Hope that helps!

Advice for studying/taking notes for methods/specialist?
@ArcherNewton3 жыл бұрын
Hi Rebekka, the main idea is gaining a very fundamental understanding of the concepts to know where everything is coming from and what will lead to what consequences. I do this through using 'thought experiments'. The next thing is lots of mindful practice with practice problems. However, it's important not only to do the questions but reflect on them and how you are working through the questions, so you can use them as learning experiences. Hope that helps :)
