Captain Planet - Captain Planet Defeats Captain Pollution [Music & Sequence Appreciation]

I swear this has to be the most GLORIOUS and feel good Superhero sequence of all time. Everything about this sequence is perfect! Captain Planet's theme (the true one) playing in the background as he gives his evil alternate, Captain Pollution, a good dose of four Elements. But as fans of the show know, Captain Planet is summoned with with five elements, with the being "Heart" which encompasses positive human emotions such as compassion, kindness, empathy, understanding, love, happiness. Everything. For Captain Pollution asking Captain Planet to show mercy by saying "Have a heart, Captain Planet!" is quite the pun and very fitting as he is in a way suggesting to complete the set. LOL. I wonder how many people today know or remember the saying "Have a heart". Don't find it used much these days.

Dude, Captain Planet just dragged his opponent through miles of solid rock, fully submerged him in a river of lava, hauled his ass back up through solid rock again, spun him around in the air fast enough to almost start a hurricane, tossed him into the ocean, fished him out, put him in a headlock in which you could HEAR his enemy's bones creaking, and dropped him 3 or 4 stories down onto the ground. This would be a worthwhile finishing move for ANY superhero in and of itself, even before you factor in that these are all Captain Pollution's _weaknesses_ . If you watched Superman or Invincible or Thor do this, you'd consider it 1 of the most badass fights he'd ever had. Captain Planet was a fucking DBZ-level savage when he wanted to be. You get the right people to do a reboot, you could have a HELL of a kick-ass superhero show.

I’ve had this idea for a reboot for a while now where the Planeteers have to learn to be Planeteers before they can even summon Captain Planet. In the finale, they face off against Pollution and he shatters the Rings. Before he finishes them, he kids tell him that there will always be people like them who care about protecting the planet just as there will always be people like the Eco-Villains who want to destroy it. With that, the kids stand tall as Pollution fires the finishing blow with a massive explosion. The kids open their eyes to find themselves completely unharmed. Before them was a glowing yellow orb that shielded them from the attack. They stare in awe as rings form around the orb; Rings of earth, fire, wind, and water. It strangely resembles the symbol on their shirts. Yellow beams of sunlight stretch through the orb as the elements gather to form a man-like figure. An otherworldly voice rings through the air as the form becomes clearer. “By your powers combined… I…am…Captain Planet!” The kids stare in disbelief at the sight before them. They…did it. Captain Planet glances back at them over his shoulder with a smile and a chuckle. “Took you Planeteers long enough.”

To whoever posted this video, I humbly say thank you. Everything was so good about this: The BGM playing works itself right into the one-sided battle, because if you pay attention Planet is doing each element, as they were introduced in the intro sequence. This is why I prefer the first three seasons over the Hanna-Barbera seasons, as there was more of a realistic feel, despite the later seasons including the episodes Teers in the hood, which really had that vibe of danger throughout the entire episode. Also, R.I.P to James Coburn, the original voice actor for Looten Plunder, as well as Ed Asner the voice of Hoggish Greedily who was part of the eco-villains team to get one of the evil rings in the comics.

Pretty sure plowing someone through rock,plunging him in magma,throwing him from a tornado,drowning him,breaking his arm,and then dropping him into a beach would defeat just about anyone. He's gotta be just a bag of gravy after all that.

On the one hand, right now we need a show like Captain Planet. Over the past 30 years, many things have changed, but the environmental problem remains with us On the other hand, this show is simply impossible to create now. It is too cruel for very children (How many times were the Planeteers in real mortal danger? Современные рейтинги такое не любят, да?) but at the same time, children need such an animated series.😢 In addition, this animated series has flaws that would be good to correct. For example, episodes where they report that the world's population is growing very quickly and therefore it is not worth having a bunch of children . The problem with these episodes is that every corner of the world has its own demographic situation. Although I think this show was intended more for the USA, right?

Indeed, but it's easier said than done today. Comedy relief is pretty much a lost art. Hardly any show or film producer knows how to utilize it without becoming cringe. The idea of a comedy relief is to not completely break the tension, but to give some bit of relief when things become too serious or tense. Tricky to balance while not completely breaking the mood of the situation.
