30in bow make you look more bold, 25in may be suitable for daily show :))

that means you should use a titanium riser

You are so damn right. In the end what matters is if you enjoy your bow. I have two bows, a matrix with a very light poundage that i have a lot of fun shooting, and a Buffalo with a high poundage that I barely can shoot ( and all shoots are erratic) that gives me even more fun. So you are right, as I like both bows a lot.

Again NUSensei with a great honest answer to a common question. I do think that there are some great platforms for people to enter archery into since those asking these questions are beginners. A few start priced bows make great entry points into archery. The Polaris and the Junxing F155 are great bows for this IMHO... With the Samick Polaris you can keep the limbs and change to a polymer or even a metal riser. Then you can start all over with an ILF bow if you are sure you want to stick with it. There are also low priced nice ILF risers now.

Great advice as always 👍🏼 In honesty, the only bows I’d avoid would be super cheap eBay nonsense. If possible always get along an archery shop to test all the equipment within your price range and if there is a club near you, most offer beginners courses often with club equipment for you to use/borrow whilst you learn the basics.

Great video, thanks! I've seen some terrific recurves in decent condition and reasonable prices in pawn shops. (my loving wife patiently reminds me that I don't 'need' more bows?!)

I've only just begun in archery but I've played guitar for a long time. I cringe at all the high quality guitars, sitting unused, in the corners of bedrooms. I wonder if this applies to archery too. Love your videos and have a great laugh at your honesty with beginners, even though I am one. You've been really helpful. Thanks.

I can't agree more, my first purchase what a Hoyt formula excel pro. Still shoot it to this day and I've loved it, I picked it mostly due to the colour and thought it looked nice. Only downside is having to buy Hoyt now.

Truth. As much as I like to drool over the shinies that W&W or Hoyt are making, the truth is that the SF Axiom+ (with similarly inexpensive Cartel stabilizer) I'm shooting with is still perfectly adequate to my needs, and any problems with my shooting are down to me & my skill, not the bow. Maybe if I win the lotto or find myself with $1000 burning a hole in my pocket some day, I'll buy the expensive riser, but for now I'm quite happy with my relatively inexpensive kit. The point isn't to blow the bank, it's to have fun and challenge ourselves to improve.

I spent many months working out which bow to buy then my partner just brought me one as a gift, not what I wanted but it works and I am having fun learning with it and that is all that matters.

Thanks for this video, NuSensei. Could you - or anyone else - please explain a little more what you mean when you say an expensive bow will feel like a luxury bow? Is it less hand shock and that sort of thing?
@NUSensei6 жыл бұрын
Feels great in the hand, smooth to draw, and gives good feedback. You can also expect better and more consistent performance. Cheaper bows tend to feel crude, lack quality finish, while expensive bows are made with better materials and undergo better quality control.

NUSensei Perfect, that makes total sense. Thanks very much.

honestly people should try casual shoots at various clubs and ask lots of questions. most people will happily give you advice and show off their gear. just don't touch any of it without permission. there's a lot of good information you can obtain just by striking up a conversation and give you an idea of what a discipline is like.

Ok, How about this. Im a total newbi to archery so i have not evan figuerd out what typ of archery path i want to to take. What is a good allaround bow that allowes you to play around whit diffrent draw wight, maybe slap some optiks on one time and then next training try instictiv shooting.

Any bow that isn't a fiberglass youth bow.

I'm not the most experienced, but I usually ask people what they plan on doing with the bow, and how committed they are. It's ridiculous to buy something too cheap for your ambition because it'll turn out to become a bottleneck for your progression, like shooting olympic style with a Sage. It's also unwise to spend a ton of money on a bow if you're planning on practicing once every other week. Don't buy a top of the line gaming PC with monstrous performance if you're only planning on playing Hearthstone. Don't try to run the newest games in 4K on a 2004 Dell you found on craigslist for $30. It's also a very good point to buy the bow you want and not the one you're told. The one you want will be more satisfying to use, and you'll feel proud of your scores because you feel like you and your bow were responsible for them. If you get a bow because of a recommendation, you might feel guilty for not doing well enough with it, or like it was a bad reommendation and that's why you don't get higher scores.

Did you just call a bow a toy?

Are there even "bad" bows on the market once you reach the ..örm..lets call it "samic sage" price point? They will probably all shoot in the right direction.
@BovinaSancta796 жыл бұрын
I bought one of those starter packs that costs around 100 euro or so, and my bow (I shoot with a recurve) works very well. Around that price point and over and you should be safe. Also, I like the "the will probably all shoot in the right direction" comment haha.
@McJaews6 жыл бұрын
I bought a Samick SHT, which is the European version of the Sage, and it was awful to use. The riser window didn't have enough clearance for the arrow which made the back of the arrow smack against it on every shot, no matter how I tried tuning it. At the price range of the Sage there are bows that suck compared to others in the same price range.
@cameronstewart66366 жыл бұрын
I would argue that most of the sub $50 youth beginner bows are "bad". Not very durable. Typically replaced quickly, which makes it like a archery intro fee, rather than a "real" bow.
@thomaslunde99016 жыл бұрын
James Badger if the back of the arrow hits the riser, its the arrow itself whats wrong, not the bow. Do you shoot " off the shelf"? In that case, you must have feathers, not plastic vanes. Have you got the correct spined arrow shafts?
@McJaews6 жыл бұрын
Thomas, We tried different arrows, different vanes & feathers. People much more experienced than I (by some odd 40-50 years) diagnosed the riser as faulty, and I decided to get a different bow. But thanks for your input. It was an odd case, but your diagnosis is usually right.
