I shoot my bow (& rifles) about 70% of the time in motor cross boots, 15% in Nike’s & 15% in mountain combat boots & I can’t tell the difference, wether I’m shooting on flat concrete, lumpy grass, rough dirt, thick brush or hills of any kind? I think so long as you get comfy on the ground your shooting, it doesn’t matter. Love the vids NUSensei, keep it up mate👍🏼😁 There’s just so much to learn & so much to overlook in every discipline, it’s good your trying to work through everything you can to help folk. 👍🏼

I have a pair of Vans skateboard shoes solely for Archery, and they're great because they're comfy, flat soled, have good grip and most importantly are colour matched to my other archery equipment's overall colour scheme

Another important thing I would like to mention here for people shooting non compound bows is that make sure your shoes have adequate padding on your toes. The reason is we tend to rest our bows on our feet. Most modern runner shoes have very filmsy material on top which is good for letting feet breath but bad to rest your pointy Olympic Recurve bow limb tip on. That being said, there are toe rest pads available (I think Fivics makes some).

You should look into skateboard shoes. They are build for comfort , stability and balance and they do flex. Usually they are completely flat on the bottom. The shape inside the shoe varies from brand to brand, but the one's i'm using right now(adidas seeley) have a very slight raised heel . Another plus is that they look pretty slick :)

still depends on where you are shooting, skate shoes on wet grass, your stance will change every shot.

I have a hiking/work boots mix that I use because I shoot outdoors, and they do indeed flex like your sports shoes so I think it's a good sign :)

I use Gore-Tex sport shoes outdoor archery, so they keep pretty dry. Those are not running shoes, but more like walking shoes, with quite hard sole and square heel. For indoor archery I use volleyball shoes, which also have fairly hard and square sole. They feel nice and solid.

Some coaches recommend shot put shoes. They give a very stable stand while still giving you enough feeling towards the front of the foot. The adidas adizero used to be popular, but I think it is no longer available.

I adore your vids. Quick question. For a first stab I want something to grow with. I hate buying budget stuff it’s a waste of money, imo. You end up buying twice. With stabs though there is no consistent info out there. Considering HMC+ Carbon, ACS-EL, and ACS-15. The ACS ones seem like keepers, long term. Any thoughts for a stab to grow with?

In practice, stabs are stabs. Not a whole lot you need to factor in unless you need something very specific.

@@NUSensei thanks! Is there anything to what people say about starting weight or stiffness? Or is this just nonsense? Aside from you and a few others most people talk in circles about this stuff. You focus on what really matters. People say the HMC is a bit thick, and I’ve heard the EL is less stiff and a bit lighter than the 15, and some have said that makes it better as a first stab. Not sure if that’s true.

My cheapy sports shoes (bought simply to have clean shoes in fitness hall) are too bendy and too round at the sole to be stable. I feel wobbly on the ground with them. My two best feeling shoes for archery are my dress shoes and my hiking shoes. They have solid sole and stays nice and flat on the ground. My hiking boots are also made for horrendous weather and water resistance so they're great for any environment. They are karrimor boots for anyone who wonders.

You can replace the serving. If it's the centre serving, it's an easy fix. If it's the loop itself, that's a lot harder.

NU sensei, I was thinking about getting the Bow Trainer to strengthen they max draw weight I can pull back, but I don't want to spend $45 dollars on it. Do you still think it would be a good investment?

You can easily make your own with a piece of wood or a PVC pipe and a stretch band. Very cheap.

my coach told me I tend to lean forward during my shot execution and I found out its because my shoes sole is a bit too high at the back, can you recommend a good rubber shoes that's comfortable and has flat soles.

Maybe a bit late but I consider boxing shoes to be the best for olympic archery.

I shoot in them for outdoor target practice when the grass is wet. But the sole is inflexible and my feet get really tired in them after the first hour or so. BUT the cleats prevent slippage on the grassy shooting line. Tradeoffs, tradeoffs.

idk im not picky about shoes.. if i can work 15 hours a day in these shoes im sure i can shoot with them lol.... its a composite toed boot so its REALLY light its a SFC scout 2... restraunt shoes special non skid on the bottom and soft like a sports shoe water proof and everything. lol. super comfortable.

Open shoes are a really bad idea. Arrows can stick out of the grass under shallow angles and you can really hurt your feet by just walking into those sharp nocks. WA Rules, Book 3, 20.1.2: Sport shoes shall be worn by all athletes and officials except for disabled athletes when included on their classification card. Sport shoes may be different styles but shall cover the entire foot.

what if you just wanted to shoot barefoot? lol feel your stance the ground get it all dialed in and shoot.. whenever youre not on the shooting line just put your shoes back on.. could totally just bring a mat with you if you dont wanna step on the grass like a baby.
