I once did archery in high school, it was part of P.E. (My school was on the edge of parklands and had a field for basically everything, and more to spare) and it was fun. Though our school didn’t have a club so I didn’t pursue it further (I was not a sports kid). I’m in my first year uni now and is finally planning to pick it up at a local club. This definitely helps ease the anxiety of a first lesson.

legit me! But I started it at summer camp and did small competitions. My high school didn't have it so I haven't been able to play it for like 2 years :( I'm going to uni this year, so i'm hoping to tryout for the archery club lol. I'm nervous to start all over

Great points! I've seen too many people just try and buy a bow online and start without any lessons; it's definitely worth booking in for lessons first!

I mean, I was pretty much set that it would by my sport that I wanted to get into, so I got a bow before lessons. Then again all the lessons from shops around me are like 30-45 usd an hour...

I just bought my first bow from Cabela's a Bear Paradox RTH. Upon receipt, I thought I would pull it back just to see how hard it will be. Well, the string slipped while I was returning it (not pulling it) and the string broke. The peep when flying and hit my TV, bounced off the TV all the way across the room, hit the window (did not break) and was lost forever. So now I took your advice and found a pro shop (I read negatives about Cabela's pro shop) and I am going tomorrow to have the work done. Interesting, they also do classes for kids and private lessons for adults. I am signing-up since I know nothing - its probably the best place to start. An expensive lesson; never dry fire a blow period!!!!

Very good and informative video! I’m nervous because I’m going to a military camp for fun where they have all kinds of sports and archery is one of them and I’ve always been interested in it, but too intimidated to start. Hopefully all goes well. If I like it, I may even take it up and learn more

Honestly once you know how to prevent it it will be something that won't happen anymore. Form changes like having your grip set to where your knuckles are at a 45 degree angle(Not vertical) possibly trying to shoot with an open stance, or physically bending the elbow. I wouldn't recommend bending the elbow as it can cause variation. If you are really still not sure what can cause it, you can get an arm guard.

How long do you think you should set aside for archery practice while having a full time job? Is 30mins to an hour enough to get good at archery?
@mcb22063 жыл бұрын
Yes, An hour may even be too much as first depending on how you can handle the draw weight.

I went to a class for archery and the instructor said I couldn't use a bow until the SEVENTH lesson and have to use a robber resistance band till he decides I'm ready for a real bow. Felt like a rip off so I'm here making sure I didn't wrongly accuse them.

WHAT?! I'm going to soon try archery at my school club do I seriously have to wait until the seventh lesson?
