I remember being home 'studying" during the Sydney Olympics, and watching Simon Fairweather win that gold medal. What a moment for an Aussie fan, one of my favourite from those games

@manx1324 You don't squeeze the handle of your bow to hold it as the motion of forming a fist rotates the bow sideways. You simply let the tension of the drawn string press the bow into the V of your thumb and index finger. Thus, when you release the string and the tension holding it in place, the bow rolls forward in the hand and the arrow flies true.

you would think so, but one of the greatest target archers in the world (Im Dong Hyun) is legally blind! Aiming isn't the most important part of archery.

@manx1324 i beleive if they dont they have to hold it back and that can cause the arrow's path to be slightly altered ..not sure though.

This film could, so easily, be remastered using modern AI software. It should be done to preserve and enhance it as an historic documentary. Anyone know who did the commentary - sounds like Paddy O’Connell?

The start of a golden decade, even start with 9/11 and concluded with the great recession. The following one were not comparable, even for China.

@thelarkin101 Thanks I've always been interested about the actual poundage of competition archers, I figured it would be about 45lb for men :-)

Can someone be an Olympic archer even at an older age? What is the avarage poundage of bows they use in the Olympics?
@stevenh33419 жыл бұрын
Igor Bajic Yes , archery is a sport for any age. Average draw weight : male: 46lbs ... female 40lbs

Although, in recent years the younger, more energetic archers dominate the field. Khatuna Lorig was a great archer, now still is, but trails behind somewhat compared to someone like MacKenzie Brown
