Very informative & most timely in my case ! Thankyou. Will start by saying, I am a "no click" archer with a hinge set rather cold on the scale. Have tested endless hinge releases of most brands & only recently have just have given up on the UV Hinge 2 after several weeks, with being quite prepared to commit to it & altered my peep height etc to suit it's individual neck/head location. I eventually became frustrated after continual "hang up" shots under pressure & just couldn't adjust the rotation/speed to suit my shot routine comfortably . Have returned to the Scott Ascent, which for me is aright up there . Love it. Hoping you discuss this often overlooked subject further & compare others.

Thank you very much for watching. I'm a firm believer that the best equipment is the kind that doesn't make you work to be able to use it. I have the same problem with the UV Hinges. The first clip of me shooting was with the UV Hinge 2.0 and trying to get it to go off after I drew it as flatly as I could. I do think there's something here that I can turn into an objective measurement, so I'm going to do some thinking and see what I can do with it.

I like how you measure the head release angle with a protractor. That's a great point of reference. Would you have a recommendation for a release similar to the Carter Atension? Their obsolete, but I really like the back sweep on this release. Thanks, great video.

Thanks for watching. I'm going to have to expand on this idea at some point (maybe as it to my sizing guide sheets or start making spreadsheets) when I find the time, but it's definitely something to look for when a new product comes out. As for a release similar to the Carter Atension, are you looking for a Thumb or a Hinge? If you like releases with an aggressively swept-back handle, the Scott Select and the TRU Ball "Flex" models of hinge can be set with a lot of sweep (Executive Flex, HBC Flex and Fulkrum Flex). For thumbs, the Scott Apex, Scott Apex Core, Carter Just B Cuz or Insatiable, and the TRU Ball GOAT, Blade Pro Flex, Trident Flex, and Ultimate Flex have a similar sweep to the hinges. I'm sure there are others, but that could cover the most aggressive handles.

If we scale out 1-10 with the UV2 at 1 for being slow while the Executive Flex is 10, where would the Carter 2Smooth or B3 Tanjent sit on this scale?
@ajbholsters2035 Жыл бұрын
Hmm, i could probably develop an actual objective scale since I know the hottest and slowest. Without going downstairs and measuring the angles (though I think I'm going to add that to my list of things to examine) I would say the 2Smooth and Tanjent are on the hotter side, with the 2Smooth being potentially a little hotter than the Tanjent. So let's give the 2Smooth an 8 and the Tanjent a 7.

By chance did you check the 3rd axis on your scope? The upward angle of the bow at longer distances can give you a false reading on your bubble level if it isn't tuned properly. If that's not it, I would bump your sight over and center it at 80, since any discrepancies at closer yardages would be less pronounced.

Great video, very interesting. I recently purchased the hbc flex. Im still learning it, however I do get hung up. Did I choose the wrong hinge for my first one? Thanks
@ajbholsters2035 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching. I would give yourself more time with it. The HBC Flex is a pretty fast hinge, and you can make it feel faster by rotating the Flex finger in to straighten the handle (if you haven't already). Eventually everything will just "click" for you and it'll feel natural. The best cue I've found for me to set off hinges is to get to full draw and relax my fingers while spreading our my arms (bow arm pushing toward the target).

What release is your current favorite?
@ajbholsters20358 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for checking out my videos. I'll let you know the ones I always find myself going back and using to versus the ones in my collection that I like for one reason or another but I don't end up actually using. My favorite in the collection is the Bernie's Archery Equalizer (which is a set of brass knuckles with a hinge head attached) but I cant use it effectively since it's too big for my hand. The ones I use myself are: For a thumb release I am partial to the Stan Onnex Clicker for its fit (5 sizes, 2 materials, comes as a kit for customization without having to purchase extra parts) and versatility (you can disable the click and use it as a regular Onnex Thumb with minimal trigger travel). That said, lately I've been using the Ultimate Flex primarily and forcing myself to get used to laying my thumb on the barrel and methodically pulling the trigger. I was punchy as hell in the B-Roll I used in this video and I'm trying to kick that habit. I'm better now that I'm shooting more often, and the Stan Clicker is helping with that as well. For a hinge I like the Stan LynX and the TRU Ball Executive Flex. The Executive Flex is very easy to manipulate due to the aggressive set of the head, and the LynX I like because of the customizable position of the Thumb peg as well as the variety of sizing. Out of all the releases I own, lately I've been finding myself sticking with those three. They all have positives and drawbacks, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.

@@ajbholsters2035 YW & thank you! I’ve been looking at the Stan Clicker and I like that it comes as a kit! That’s something that all the companies need to take note of!

I like your honest reviews on releases, versus the ones where the people have a vested interest in always giving an excellent review. With that being said have you tried the Tru Ball Go2? I was looking at it and would like to hear an honest opinion. Thanks
@ajbholsters203511 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for watching and for the kind words. I enjoy speaking my mind without the need to watch what I say, and it makes me happy to see people are finding the info useful. The TRU Ball GO2 works nicely as a pinky finger release and is awkward as hell to use as an index finger release. Taking your index finger out of the process of drawing a handheld release takes some time to acclimatize, and the way the index trigger hinges (it rotates in toward the hook instead of out or press straight into the handle) doesn't help. The handle is fairly thin and the index finger bed is still thinner because the index trigger sits higher than the finger bed in the locked position when you use the GO2 as a pinky release. I would have liked to try a dedicated pinky finger release and wish the Rave Pinky had made it to market. So, long story short, get it if you want a pinky release and don't bother trying it as an index.
@matevans212211 ай бұрын
@@ajbholsters2035 Thank you very much for the info. I did find the whole index finger a little weird. My interest is solely the pinky release. The main guy or shooter behind the design was Jeff Hopkins and he said he cured his target panic with an old pinky release. Not sure why they tried to do more with it, probably Tru ball's call on that. I don't really like how they put a manual hookup on it, but I'm going to give it a try. Thanks again for your input, I appreciate it!
