That happens to be correct. The catholic church gives much more importance to its own traditions and dogmas than to the commands of the one they call Lord (the word lord implies service and obedience). The Reformation was an attempt to get back to the ways of the primitive church. Some protestants read the Bible and live as Christians. Lots of catholics are nice, even wonderful people, but NONE of them is even aware that Jesus gave his followers orders to be followed. They think the rules of their church are what God wants them to do. In many cases it is the exact opposite.

@nicholasschroeder36784 жыл бұрын
Lear and the show certainly had a liberal bias or agenda. But I think Archie, and conservativism in general, are given a fair shake in the show. We laugh at Archie and a lot of his ignorance and bigotry, but we like him a lot too--kinda even love him. We see where he's coming from, and in the important things he usually does the right thing. Mike's the liberal mouthpiece, and his views--in my view--are usually correct. But he's self-righteous and of course a total free-loader, and basically no one really likes him. I think his character is deliberately made that way. He's young and idealistic, with maybe a chance of getting into the middle-class, and Archie's uneducated and will never be more than he is (and fears that he could even lose that). He's paid his dues, Mike hasn't. So I think that show's pretty fair all around. My dad, who was basically Archie, and I would watch it together and roar.
@michael0.7703 жыл бұрын
I think your analysis is right on the mark. I think it actually shows the strengths and faults of both liberals and conservatives in a fairly balanced way. I tend to agree with Mike also, but he is arrogant and often selfish. Gloria and he have a major argument where she calls him a "liberal hypocrite,' if I remember correctly, and there is applause in the audience. You can see he does take major advantage of Archie financially and seems clueless about showing gratitude to Archie like he should. I recall another "balanced" episode where there is a black repairman at the house. Mike makes him out to be an Uncle Tom, and Archie makes him out to be a radical. Edith, as is often the case, is the one who tells it like it is. God, I miss the humor, acting and the superb writing.

All scriptures were written before the RCC existed. RCC did not form until 325 AD because of Constantine. Printing Press was not invented yet, that came much later. Ultimately God wrote the Bible and which God Himself lifted up certain individiuals, mainly an Israelite/Jew to write the Bible.

@pleasestop1000 Judaism is an older religion than Christianity just as Christianity is an older religion than Islam. All three stem from the Abrahamic tradition, however, and have much in common.
