@@hutch1197 African tribes enslaved other African tribes... put them in chains... marched them to the coast and sold them to white slavers who put them on ships. Also, their main customers were middle eastern muslims werr thrir top customers. Ever hear of jungle fever ? Yeah, most white peolle couldn t survive deep into aftrica for more than year.....Oh yeah 27% of all slave owners in America were people of color. And great Britain was the first nation in the history of the world to bane slavery. Not making excuses for what happened but let's put things in perspective shall we... Yeah, it was white people who finally made it illegal, eventually. However, try googling slavery in Africa today. Lowest figures I could find was 700000 currently. That's a lot more than was brought to America In chains. I wonder who is slaving all those people today in Africa? Hmmmm perhaps it's that huge population of Anglo Saxon white Christians which are clearly the majority in Africa today ..right? I'll let you think about the word slavery actually means...Google it.., it's Slavic...meaning so many Slavic people were enslaved by Muslims and Ottoman Empire ( in the millions) during the 9th century the term slave was born as it became the universal name that we still use today. Slavic people are WHITE. As example Saudi Arabia officially banned slavery in 1962 ! And if look up slavery in this nation there is a pic of an Arab (person of colour) next to his WHITE Circassian slave ! Black Americans can blame other blacks, Muslims, Arabs, Turks, and other people of color for their enslavement and being sold abroad. They can thank the British and the French and eventually their fellow white Americans for banning the practice and eventual freedom.

Story goes Sammy Davis was a HUGE fan of the show and begged to be on it. When they agreed the show's writers were horrified of what to have Archie say to Sammy for fear of offending him, to which he told them "You know I toured with Sinatra for years, right? You can't say anything that'll offend me!"
@JnEricsonx6 жыл бұрын

The reason the writers had Archie moonlighting as a cab driver was to create a realistic scenario for somebody like Archie Bunker to meet a celebrity like Sammy Davis JR. That was THE main purpose for creating that additional "subplot", if you will. Chanty was at a pretty combative event regarding a man who's said a bunch of shit about his wife exploiting him (despite the courts finding him more at fault mostly because he was extremely negligent - his daughter talked about that at length), (disease) (electronic artist) was being interviewed by a Gish Galloping and fallacy-slinging Infowars interviewer who was beyond reasonable (and trust me, if you're interviewed by a guy with an Infowars press pass, you're going to be defamed by them unless if you're Alex Jones and you're just so fucked up that you end up acting funny and cool), and the kid? Well, I'm gonna guess they're young and Trump wasn't exactly the most promising candidate. We shitposted him into the presidency. Man, this comment section is dedicated to missing the point. All in the Family was about a starkly conservative man in an age that had left his views behind. At one time, he may have been center, or even left of center, but as society grew more liberal with time, he couldn't change, so he seemed a relic of the past with these awful views. He thinks "slavery is bad" is progressive of him. He thinks "separate races, but respectful" is liberal. The whole point of the show, and the spinoffs, is that he if he's going to grow as a person, he has to realize the same truths the modern era had. Shows like this make the far right *wildly uncomfortable.* Because it confronts questions as to why liberal thought eventually becomes the norm with time. It suggests that they, too, will eventually be a relic of an old era, as everyone else realized more egalitarian thought. That's scary to them. So they denounce these kinds of shows as "political". "That show has an agenda. We should go back to television that didn't have a liberal agenda". Archie Bunker is a prime example of the fact that television has almost always been about equality and freedom, not just in their own time, but over time. Because today's leap forward is tomorrows drag into the stone age.

What Norm Lear did with these shows was to make aware of how silly or stupid America can be about the different races and yet we are the same. P.S. if you want to call me a racist which I am not . I the rest of us Blacks people had excellent teachers after all 300 year up to the present day of slavery and the inequality a how people of color have been treated we learn from people who look like you. Despite what my great parents and grandparents as well as my mother and along with my siblings and other relatives and friends we were NEVER taught to HATE white people but a many of white people were taught to hate Negroes or Color people now African Americans and look down on people in this country.

Yep. We were once able to laugh at each other and with each other. What a beautiful country we once had. That means you love one another when you could enjoy each other.

Sammy Davis Jr also opened the window when Batman and Robin were climbing up the side of a building.

See...this is a exaggerated parody, but it acknowledges conversation. If you declare certain words as "too hurtful" and "unspeakable" you're killing conversartion.

Those three and their singing was really disrespectful. Those two had enough dignity and respect for one another to be honest about their feelings and views.

Sammy Davis Jr. is basically doing what Lionel does with Archie. Both know that Archie is just ignorant, so instead of getting mad at what he says, they both decide to toy with him. Sammy Davis is even able to put Archie down a couple of times in this episode, while making it appear to Archie that he's praising him.

Gotta love Norman Lear.. can you imagine TV without his stamp?.. and one of the best was All in The Family.. Jeffersons.. Good Times.. Maude didn't really do it for me after a season.. it was just repeating the same Women's lib mantra in different silly situations, which dried up finally.. the best "take" on Maude is when Carol Burnett did a spoof... it was funnier than all of Maude shows put together.. Look it up...
