Kit Carson Hi, so let me get this right.., are you saying that you think that NZ and Aussie etc would be safer n less violent if we changed our gun laws from merely requiring one to apply to the police & get checked out to be allowed to hold a license.. as well as.., I imagine, your idea would also require people to be allowed to carry gun around in public...? Some one person... not shooting 10.... 5- we good as is, while I don’t have gun.., me mates that do are happy with our current..., they go hunting, to gun club, to competitions.. & enjoy their guns n have fun.. they keep their noses clean and behave so the cops don’t ask questions.. it’s happy happy fn joy joy. There were Sky Marshalls before 9/11. They added MORE afterward. They also allowed the arming of pilots. Which was humorously controversial. You trust a guy with a billion $ airplane and 300-500 lives, but you don't trust him to carry a gun? 🤪 Most airline pilots were military pilots. ALL military pilots carry handguns. Ironically, in the 1930s -1940s airlines issued handguns to their pilots and the FAA has always allowed the practice. At one time, any transcontinental flight carrying US Mail was required to have an armed pilot. As a collector of guns I have seen several handguns marked with the property stamp of airlines. It appears United was the last airline to do so and in 1947, United Airlines sold off their supply of Colt Model 1908 .380 caliber handguns. A model 1908 bearing a United Airlines property stamp is worth a LOT of money in the collector market.

A single shot through the side or the window did not have any effect - it took *actual explosives* to cause explosive decompression - suggesting that the fuselage is designed to prevent people from being blown out.[13] Professional pilot David Lombardo states that a bullet hole would have no perceived effect on cabin pressure as the hole would be smaller than the opening of the aircraft's outflow valve."

Guns are not the problems This Patriotic Veteran approves this mesg Gun deaths There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population is 324,059,091 as of June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.0000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death: • 65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws. • 15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified. • 17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons - better known as gun violence. • 3% are accidental discharge deaths. So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Now lets look at how those deaths spanned across the nation. • 480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago • 344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore • 333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit • 119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years) So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause. This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1. Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths. Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault are all done by criminals. It is ludicrous to think that criminals will obey laws. That is why they are called criminals. But what about other deaths each year? • 40,000+ die from a drug overdose-THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT! • 36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths. • 34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide). Now it gets good: • 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer walking in the worst areas of Chicago than you are when you are in a hospital! • 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It’s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If the liberal loons and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total number of gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides ................ Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions! So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It's pretty simple: Taking away guns gives control to governments. The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace. Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution. It must be preserved at all costs. So the next time someone tries to tell you that gun control is about saving lives, look at these facts and remember these words from Noah Webster: "Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed." What ever happen to up hold the Oath of office to protect and up hold the CONSTITUTION of the USA....NOT MAKE YOUR OWN RULES/LAWS... Show quoted text Show quoted text

"So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause." That's a misleading statement. Those city suffer from higher numbers of gun homicides simply because they have very high populations. This is like saying there is more gun violence in Russia than there is in Peru. The statement might be factual, but it's meaningless because Russia is so much larger, and has so many more people than Peru. If you do the same comparison based on per capita (i.e. per 100,000 people), Chicago isn't even in the top five when it comes to gun homicides. The top 5 cities for gun homicides based on per capita, as of November, 2018, are... New Orleans-Metairie, LA Memphis, TN Birmingham-Hoover, AL Baltimore-Columbia-Towson, MD St. Louis, MO

@@elrond3737 I wish people wouldn't associate guns being taken away by communists. It's not communism that has, as a policy, the taking of guns from citizens. Your second point nailed it: it's most authoritarian governments. There are plenty of capitalist nations that ban individual gun rights. Again, not due to the economic system - capitalism doesn't require taking guns away. As I leftist/progressive, I honor, cherish and protect the right of citizens to own guns (in the U.S.A.). But I have no problem with and support reasonable regulations (requiring safety training, licensing, delayed purchases (cool down period to help avoid crimes of passion) unless a person already owns a gun, not selling to a convicted felon of a violent crime for a period of time in society or for a record of violent mental problems, restrictions on automatic weapons, etc.). Unlike some gun enthusiasts I'm not paranoid that one regulation (or even all of those I mentioned) will lead to a domino effect and the complete abandoning of the 2nd amendment. Just my opinion, no more valid than anyone else's.

True American liberals and American Conservatives agree on basic values such as freedom of speech, the constitution, and other basic freedoms/rights. Progressive ideology is on the path to communism. It will never get there. A lot of the woke crap/ cancel culture has spawned from it. True liberals despise all this garbage. Communism must be authoritarian in order to work. That is why they take the guns. Nazis did the same thing. This show was before my time. But he's actually right. Sept 11th never would have happened if there were armed passengers on those planes. Those terrorists would have had a quick demise.

And Rob Reiner thought he would be the most popular character on the show by espousing liberal views. They did not call him meathead for nothing.

He makes more sense than some folks today. This show was produced by ultra-liberal Norman Lear. He's still with us. What did Archie think about D.W. Griffith's movie Birth of a Nation? At the end former slaves were forced to give up their guns. We definitely need to keep guns out of the wrong hands. One way would be to keep them in the right hands.

My version of gun control when there is a gun in every woman's purse everywhere she goes is a safe zone for her and her children. A good man has nothing to fear from a woman with a pistol in her purse. Only men with bad intentions towards women would disarm them

@f1nger6055 жыл бұрын
@@ahoksbergen - You do have some semblance of a point there. Even though Archie was meant to be an object of ridicule, what he ended up doing was make his brand of bigotry, misogyny, and homophobia seem harmless. It sets up a fantasy that these morons will eventually grow old, resign themselves to their irrelevency, and die as a younger, more tolerant, generation inevitably replace them (on both the left and the right). But now it's aparent that bigotry and hatred persist so long as they are perceived of as harmless. Archie went from being a ridiculous parody to being the unironic template for the modern regressive right. It's the Poe's law of Trump-era politics. There is no parody of the right so silly and ridiculous that you can't find someone who actually believes it. If you joke that arming every passenger on a plane is a good idea, idiots on the internet will agree.
