Equal pay for women is an issue regarding pay inequality between men and women. It is often introduced into domestic politics in many first world countries as an economic problem that needs governmental intervention via regulation.

the real conservative argument as to why she's only getting $5.50 is she is entering the job on an entry level... the last guy was getting $6.00, but we don't know how long he worked that job and how much experience he has over her.
@javiancrawford1143
@javiancrawford1143 5 жыл бұрын
It wasn't about experience back in those days over a woman, because back in Archie Bunker days women weren't considered equal to men, But in the 70s and 80s things began to change when women started asking for equal rights and equal pay and Archie Bunker didn't like that, his point of view was based on the Bible not based on man-made Society.
@glennmartin802
@glennmartin802 4 жыл бұрын
No, the "real" conservative argument is to say women belong in a domestic role while men should be expected to provide. This way people can actually support families on a single income, our society will be more inclined to marry and have children, and the needs of the children are always met.

There is a book called "The Feminine Mystique" it speaks of how woman in the 60s feel they have to behave a certain way, look a certain way or act a certain way. It's a book on feminism but ultimately can be applied to all genders. It concluded on you should not behave how a people want you too. You will never be free unless you are yourself. You can and should be what you want to be. I guess what I'm trying to say is you don't have to be this way because it's expected of you. Why does the spa I go to get away with hiring ONLY women as an explicit policy? (Btw, I'm FINE with them only hiring women.) Why do women get away with telling men to "man up"? What do they mean with that "sexist" messaging? I can seriously go on and on. Women are fine with "sexism" when it benefits THEM. Liberals like yourself were and are complete hypocrites. I come back to this sitcom, year after year, whenever I need a sanity check (and there have been many as of late). Hands down the most intelligent sitcom to ever come out of Hollywood. Props to the guys, that had the balls to run with this to the studio. And the actors to have the courage to put themselves out there like that. Thank You Norman Lear. Thank you Carrol, Jean, Sally and Rob for taking that chance and making history. Thank you.

"What's the point of a man working hard all his life trying to get someplace if all he's gonna do is wind up equal?" This is 100% correct. A man who works hard can't expect a promotion or a raise, because the hardest workers are usually men and the trend would get the employer sued for discrimination.

He has a point. Men work hard for their woman and family because they expect to be appreciated for all the hard effort. Take that away and introduce a woman who won't cook and clean yet still expect you to pay for the dates, be romantic, buy random flowers, open doors, pull chairs, etc and then you wonder why men don't want anything serious anymore and women can't keep any good men.

Kids in their 20's cannot even imagine the World of the 1940's and 50's. Sexism and even racism were pretty much accepted premises in a lot of areas. I'm an amateur Sociologist that loves to study people and trends and how they relate to the Military and Economics. To me it's a great Hobby and makes me feel better about a lot of what I see, or have seen, in society. Makes me feel better because I understand it and we mostly fear what we don't know. Peace.

Not complaining but I work with women that get paid at the same rate as I, and can't get nearly as much done as me. I have to help them and lift heavy objects for them. They talk a lot and never put much effort in to their work. I should make much more than them. Although I've had women coworkers in the past that actually do work hard (sweating profusely, and sore but still on point) and am glad to see them making what I make.
