Finally, a knife guy who doesn't have large or extra large hand size. We medium hand people needed some representation 😂

Got this one in 3V. Its a beast. Bought a simple 15 dollar sheath from Bradford knives. Saved a bunch of cash. One of my favorite American made knives.

Yea it's quickly growing on me. It seems thicker than specified. My calipers are measuring 0.2 inch blade thickness. It looks visually thicker than all my 3/16" blades as well so I'm thinking it's actually that thick.

My esee6 and bark river strike force 2 (a stupid name in my opinion) look the same too. But the grinds are very different. I just ordered the AK 6.5 in magnacut. I think i am done with buying knives now 😊
@johnsanford35968 ай бұрын
You've probably sorted the sheath out, but if not, loosen the Teklok screws just a smidge. IIRC, the scales between the ESEE and Architect should interchange.

It actually broke in quite quickly. Perfect now.

Great video, thanks. Great knife 🔪 too. I put a 90 degree spine on my 3V 6.5 Field Buddy knife. Very happy with it as my choice of survival belt knife. Not to big but not to small when size counts most. I did get leather sheath from I think JR Industries and it is great fit and finish quality. I did mount a 1095 Esee 3 blade onto the Field Buddy sheath. This gave me back the few thing I had to choose between and give up on my Field Buddy knife. For survival and a one tool option I would pick the Field Buddy over a Esee 6 and most others in the awesome price range I got it. There is no perfect one tool option. But best of both worlds is 2 or more tool options. To fix the few things I did give up on my Field Buddy knife choice I mounted onto my Field Buddy sheath a 1095 Esee 3 in the thin plastic sheath. This gives me the flat grind and thin 1/8" slicy blade that is easier to field sharpen. Plus the quick easy knife draw and pointy stabby tip of the Esee 3. The 2 Knives together with my ferro rod mounted make a good one tool kit option and foundation for the rest of my core survival tools I carry on my person when out in the wild. Fire kit, compass and SAK are always included. Add my metal water bottle and cup with ponch, sit pad, and survival blanket. I feel confident that if I was separated from my main pack I could make it back to my pack or some help with just some inconvenient camping rather than a life and death survival situation. I trust my life with 3V combined with 1095 steel when it is done right.

Curious of your thoughts on their 3V in the future...Nice package by the way...
@joshdoddadbod9 ай бұрын
Thanks yea, I plan to use it a lot. Unfortunately since it's my first 3v knife I have nothing to compare it to except my 1095 knives. I hear the edge should last twice as long so I'll go by that.

The AK 6.5 is a great choice for 3V. It was a bit of a learning curve for me, but it’s balance of properties has made it a favorite.

3v is far from being stainless. Achitect Knives just released the Architect 6.5 in (Magnacut) which is truly stainless.
@ShoahBiz8 ай бұрын
3v with a low temperature temper is actually quite stain resistant, but I don’t think they use a low temp temper. Even with a high temp temper it still has some bit of stain resistance tho and isn’t fast to rust but will oxidize and surface pit on you if not cared for properly. Easy to wipe that right off tho. Magnacut actually has a really low chromium content for a stainless but is still insanely stain resistant. 3v is 7.5% chromium while magnacut is like 10.5%. Magnacut uses some steel chemistry magic to make the chromium all or mostly free and available at the surface level and throughout, so it has insane corrosion resistance. Amazing stuff, really. Def a top 3 favorite steel

Really depends on what steel you want and how you intent to use the tool. What I’m loving about the architect knives is that it’s basically taking the best aspects of beloved platform (the Esee 5/6) and allowing us to customize other blades in other steel choices and grind profiles while maintaining the same handle ergonomics we love about the E5/6.

The Knife Conection sells separately the same handle scales for both knives, Esee 6 and this Field Buddy knife on their wedsite no blade purchase needed.

@@thomaschainey533 The blades are alot different in design, thickness, shape and blade geometry.
@thomaschainey5338 ай бұрын
@denisdegamon8224 Yes, I agree & both are good in their own different ways. I piggyback mounted an Esee 3 on the sheath of my Field Buddy 6.5 knife. This way, I still have what I gave up by choosing the Field Buddy over the Esee 6. No perfect one tool option, but together, these come close. The Esee 3 gives me what picking the Field Buddy I gave up like the pointy sharp tip, easy to sharpen 1095 steel. The Esee 3 is much faster to deploy plus slicy 1/8 inch thick. Makes a great system with Farro rod added.
