Then reinstalling it from the same location allows it to open. Hello there ! I hope you'll see my request for help, as I follow your tutorial. It's about the "Mod Test Prep." section : I arrived to the archive, and I see that the two code lines already exists... but at the opposite of what I saw in your video, they are placed elsewhere ( like one at the end, the second somewhere in the middle ). I'm frensh, so I want to double check, not trusting enough my english ... and I don't want to f**k up, you see ? XD So basically, do I have to reproduce those lines exactly as showed in the video, even their positions ( in that case, i'll ask why : by curiosity and also for knowledge ) ? Or can I keep them as they are in my ini file without problem ? I hope you'll be able to asnwer despite the time passed... egardless thank you for the tutorial ! It was quite usefull. ^^

I appreciate your work so much! Your ability to explain things clearly and concisely is unmatched. There are myriad KZbin videos professing to be guides and tutorials for the Creation Kit. From what I've seen, they are all haphazard, unscripted, disorganised and ultimately uninformative. I've watched supposedly highly regarded mod authors attempt to explain various aspects of the Creation Kit who clearly have no idea what they're doing, much less explain it clearly. So please please please can you gift the world with a decent Creation Kit guide. If anyone can break down such a complex program, it's you x

I want to get into modding Fallout 4 at some point soon just to make PlayStation mods. There's too many overhauls. I really want to make smaller, more modular mods that players can pick and choose for a little more freedom in how they want to play their game. Hopefully I'll be back to this video when I get my hands on a PC that can run the kit and game!

above the list of games is two arrows pointing to the right. when you hover over it, it should say "All Games" click that and the creation kit will be in that list

Any issues with the creation kit opening then closing a few seconds later is because of the dynamic performance mod loading its dll file, will automatically crash the ck, move the dll file out of the game folder while using the ck to stop crashes.

It seems these instructions are obsolete, as I have heard that while officially the Fallout 4 Creation Kit site is down for maintenance, in practice, it is only available on Steam. Please update this to see if it is possible to install this for versions purchased for GOG or other non-Steam platforms.

One point that may make people decide to add the ini edits to the custom.ini is that the CK.ini, and the CKprefs.ini get reset when you update the CK. the custom.ini however doesn't get touched when updating. That has been my experience.

My CK just wouldnt open when i alowed it to install without changing the installing location, since i have Fallout 4 on steam, so i just changed the location and installed it inside the fallout 4 folder on steam and now it works

Usually I have them play through on double speed in the background. you are too good = ) You get a view just be having a video clicked on and opened but youtube is more concerned with view length and if you watch a playlist you get multiplied view length. That's how youtube search works = ) Thoe who dislike videos would actuall do more harm to click on someones videos and jump out after a second. -Michael

I know this is a bit late, but I was hoping someone might be able to help. I have been trying to mod someone in as an NPC to my game. I have the voice lines recorded and in the right place, and they play when I preview them. The dialogue tree works perfectly. But when I talk to the character in game, no audio plays. Does anyone know why this might be?

Hello, how to make your own poster or just a picture in the game?

For the texture you need a program that creates images and exports on .dds (photoshop and install Nvidias dds plug-in, for example). Then you could use the creation kit to find a picture in the game, duplicate it, then create a new object Id out of the duplicate, and swap the dds with yours. Otherwise get a 3d model program that exports .nif files and make your own model and wrap the texture

is there a way to change some ai parameters in game settings to stop npc running away at all and just attack? i gave myself complete immunity with a mod that i created, setting "incoming weapon damage" and "incoming explosive damage", "incoming radiation, falling, magic" values to 0 now all creatures and enemies just flee away in panic when they see me is it possible to force them just stop running and put a brainless fight?

So I know this is a bit late but... Can this not work in MO2 (Mod Organizer 2)? Because launching CK from the default install location doesn't show any of my mods installed via MO2. edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. Just had to add it as an executable like with F4SE.

@ 4:43, while editing Fallout4.ini file, the line "sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\" already exists. Should I leave it alone or edit it? What fallows that line is: "SGeometryPackageList=Fallout4 - Geometry.csg SCellResourceIndexFileList=Fallout4.cdx SResourceArchiveMemoryCacheList= Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2 " Halp.

All you are doing for this is what the video shows. "Change them to what is shown if they exist. Add them if they do not". That's it. If it's not shown to change it you don't touch it. I show two settings and I read them outloud while they are enlarged and highlighted. -Michael

You can only get this through Steam now, they want you running steam at all times in the background so they can stalk you properly.

Thank you so much for this. I'm having problems when trying to install the Creation Kit, maybe you could help me out? The launcher doesn't let me change the destination folder (I click on the change folder button and nothing happens), so I'm stuck with Program Files (x86) even though my game isn't there, so when I click on the Install button it gives me an error message. I've tried reinstalling the launcher (and a second and third time installing the launcher in the same folder as the game) and closing everything in task manager to run the launcher again as admin and nothing worked. I booted my desktop between each try. I guess my last resource is to change the whole folder (Steam) back to Program Files, but I've watched your other videos and I know doing that could bring me some permission problems later on. I also saw a thread on Steam where a user was having the same problem. Another guy helped him but I didn't understand the instructions. Please help. Every time I try to start the creation kit using the Bethesda launcher it is frozen. If you pause the video at 2:36 that's what my creation kit looks like. I've waited up to 15 minutes with no activity, Just a constant grey screen, and at the top it says (Not responding) The kit has worked for me many times in the past, But I just installed a new update after having not used it for a few months and now its not working. I've tried almost everything to fix this. I reinstalled the creation kit twice, validated all the files successfully. I followed all of your troubleshooting options, running as administrator, But NOTHING works! I cant figure out what I've done. Have you heard of anything like this, I couldn't really use some advice. Thanks for the great Walkthrough though!! :)

Hey Lizzy, I haven't tried the kit for FO4 in a while (the GECK for Fallout 3 runs fine). I've heard of some people having issues with some older games and even some newer applications due to windows updates. I'm not sure if this could be a temp issue with windows. Best person I think to ask would be DarkFox127 (youtube channel and his own website). If anyone knows what's going on he will. -Michael

I have the same issue, lizzylight5 and tried everything to fix the problem, but I got always the same result. And the worst thing is that I need the creation kit properly working because I need the Scripts.rar to be able to merge plugins. I'm following Gamerpoets tutorial to merge plugins and I can't go on, I'm at the Papyrus flags path step and I need that rar to go on with the configuration.

Never had the issue but have you tried to see if there is a launcher icon either on the time tray at the bottom right of the PC? or opening task manager and shutting down anything related to it? About all that I can think of. -Michael

For some reason my fo4 ck will no longer allow multiple masters to load all my ini settings are correct i watched your video none of the troubleshooting advice u gave is not working. I have tried everything and nothing is working. I am 95% finished with a mod that needs all masters and I am now stuck. For some reason the ck or the launcher is no longer reading the ini correctly. I contacted Beth support yesterday but i do not expect a reply anytime soon. So i am wondering if you have had this issue before or know of anyone that has had it and any fixes for it. Also I am on win 10 Os and all settings have been made to read and write. So I am stuck and have no clue what else to do. Thank You for any help You can supply me with.

update after verifying the ck 20 times and adding the ini line for the 20th time it finally decided to read it. and i still have no clue what caused the issue in the first place but it is now fixed for now.

The CK can crash for a lot of reasons. I'm use to using the GECK for FO3 as that's what I've been using off and on for the past 6 months. Best bet... reach out to DarkFox127. He's pretty responsive (either on his youtube channel, or twitter or website) and he is probably one of the most knowledgeable CK users I've ever seen. I know a hand full of things that I have had to learn for my own projects (mostly landscape stuff) but that's about it. Feel free to tell him that I sent you over. -Michael

Did you install the CK to the game folder? Only thing I've read about that issue is it happens when trying to install the CK elsewhere. -Michael

As far as I know you can't. VR isn't (wasn't?) compatible with the creation kit. You need the regular game for the CK to work. -Michael
