All the comedians mentioned are American. So how do you know what other comedians there are "on the planet" that do not qualify for your list. Did you know that there actually countries and comedians outside of the USA?

At one point, it seemed he wasn't laughing so much at the jokes but at Rodney's non stop bringing up stuff which Carson had to be a set up man....like he was laughing more at Johnny trying to deal with dealing with Rodney.

Those were the days when entertainers went into the entertainment industry because they loved it. They would have been entertainers even if it meant they had to live on the street. Today's "entertainers" are in it just for the money.

guyfihi I tried to find a show where Rodney and Rickles were together, I don't know if they would work well together, but it sure would be interesting. Rodney pretty much did more standup jokes in his interview, while Rickles interacted with the crowd and the host more. Two completely different comedians, but both hilarious, and took over the show when they were on.

It depends how you see it. Entertainment was better in the 60s to 90s. Especially since Obama and at the same time passing of legends it has lost something. So now while there are some stuff, most of it is crap. Like late night is unwatchable now between Jay Leno, Craig Ferguson and David Letterman leaving and Arsenio Hall failing on his return. So now I don't really have a show I like or want to see. Conan is ok but the monologue is boring since Trump became president. I see Dick Cavett and Johnny Carson reruns and anything now pales in comparison.. Only show on daytime worth it is Live with Kelly and Ryan. The View changed for the worse and it was watchable in the 90s and 00s. No more Larry King Live, though I like his new format on Ora TV, so CNN turned to crap. Larry interviewed legends and did shows on judicial cases and hot button topics. It was a good hour. Now not so much. Kimmel went from a fun show to all political and lost me. Fallon just not my cup of tea. Colbert is an idiot and Corden got dull. Seth is not great either. So at my house I see Antenna TV for Carson reruns and go on KZbin for clips. I'm young enough it all passed me by quickly. Only 11 when Carson retired.
