Hey Paul! I was just up on the pass camping two nights ago. Found the snow! I think we need a few more storms before it is worth touring up there. But it sure was pretty! The Atom is so good as a midlayer. I have used it for that situation so many times. Plus it fits really nice!

So one thing I would offer, is that after watching this video, I am not sure which jacket is best for me. I own the OG Atom, now the Atom LT, and after watching this, I am still not sure why I would need the Heavyweight or the Proton, and which is best. I think a "best function" for each jacket would help inform me better. The cut, the materials are good, but what does that mean in the real world?

That is good insight. I suppose that is up to each individual on what the best uses are. I think the Proton is great for active use, the Atom is as well (and also looks nice for going out) and the Heavyweight is good for not as active use (walking the dog in winter).

The heavyweight looks a tad bulkier probably because it is. But wondering if the fit of the heavyweight is more relaxed, or do they all fit similarly? Thanks!

I agree that the HW is bulkier (due to the extra synthetic fill) and a more regular fit. The Atom and Proton seem to have a more athletic or trim fit. Which I appreciate for functionality as well as looks. Thanks for the nice note. Take care!

@@Engearment Thanks for the reply. Moving full time to our property and bar in upstate NY next summer. Temps in the negative and lots of snow. looking forward to those hikes in the mountains there and the lake effect snow. I know its a wet snow vs what you get in CO. But definitely enjoyed the reviews so far that have helped me to pick some KUHL gear. This would be my first Arcteryx apparel piece in the wardrobe.

Nothing special about Arcteryx or most of the outdoor brands. Look at the military clothing system and do any of these companies meet the standards and outperform/. NO, they don't.

@@sdnalyam Hey bud, ex military here. All these brands do out perform the military clothing. Honestly using military as a standard is not a good example. Hell just look at the food they bring in for us, it says on the bulk box “for military and prisoners only” I swear I seen it with my own eyes.

I was looking forward to this comparison, but have to say I am disappointed with the presentation. You mentioned the fancy/techie names of the insulations, but not whether they are synthetic or down (or if they are goose down or duck). You talk about the material on the outer shell, but neglect to mention which, if any, are durable enough to wear, say, while carrying a pack. You mention these jackets in a fashion sende, but not in a practical-use sense. And you only mentioned the price of one of them. In future videos, when you forget such, you can add important information in charts or simple text on-screen.

Thanks for the feedback! I am always trying to improve, and I will definitely try to add in the details you mentioned in future comparisons. These are all synthetic insulation. Prices are in the description. The Proton is going to be the most durable material. But all of them are going to be ok with a pack (I have used them for splitboarding) I thought I mentioned that I used these for hiking, splitboarding, and casual use as well. Hope this helps!
