I had a 2019 990, DID NOT have a single issue with this Arcric Fox TC. Loved It! Hauled it in a RAM 3500 LB SRW and towed a boat also. I added some Timbren SES on the rear axle which REALLY help stabilization, especially through turns, but I want to warn everyone here, take Wally's advice...Haul this camper in a DUALLY. It tore up my SRW 3500 drive train.

Awesome set-up! I have an F-350 6.2 gasser as well with an Arctic Fox 865 on it. Just got back from out west driving plenty of hills and mountain sides. It performed really well. I didn’t want the fuss of diesel engines and the added weight either. The setup is working great! Thanks for the ideas…

I will be happy to sell you mine as a discount. I am in Central California. Check out my other post about the issue. The plastic delaminating in front. Ours is from 2008 also in a snowstorm which the thing handled pretty well we believe water got in through the seams in front for the sides meet the front and when the water froze, it pushed out the caulking at Kirkwood in California and it was one hell of a storm. So much storm that we thought we’d get an awesome ski day and I had kept the kids out of school, but Kirkwood had too much snow and did not even open. Go figure you need a truck that is capable of caring 7000 pounds in the bed, if you want to be safe, definitely a Dooley. We first had this on a 2006 ram 3500 Dooley with a 12,000 poundGVWR. we were 2 tons overweight with that set up. Then we bought a 2014 ram mega cab 3500 Dooley with a 14,000 poundGVWR. and that set up with the five person family and four dogs we estimate we were 2300 pounds overweight. I do like to bring lots of stuff tools, ammo beer survival items. we paid $23,000 for ours used in Nevada in perhaps 2012. We are open to offers.

I removed my pull out pantry and all its contents. Installed 4 vertical shelf brackets, 4 shelf board clips, per shelf, and added 3, 9" wide shelves. All contents fit on half of one shelf! Quadrupled + the storage of that area. When apart, removed back panel to access 12 Volt wiring, added led light straps on the inside edges of the door frame, and a mirco switch to turn lights on and off when the door opens! Works great! WAY MORE STORAGE!!
@larisonlifestyle
@larisonlifestyle Жыл бұрын
This is brilliant! Amazing that you customized this to quadruple your space in the pantry. The LED lighting sounds like a game changer. We don’t have an Artic Fox, we have a Grand Design travel trailer, but our pantry is so dark I have to use a flashlight. Your LED light solution may be our next project. Thanks for your helpful comment Jason!
@jasonmiller8336
@jasonmiller8336 Жыл бұрын
Same here, it was dark way back in there. I found narrow, self adhesive led straps that fit inside the door jamb edge, ran wires up to switch from both sides, wired up thru micro switch and done! I went with 3 shelves, plus the bottom of the cabinet. We can get huge Costco size chip bags on upper shelves, and closer spacing on the lower ones. I ended up doing my friend's 990 too. Keep looking til to find 1 led strip long enough to do the full height! My first one, I used 2 strips end to end on each side, that just created extra wiring, and didn't look as good as 1 continuous strip of led's per side. If you don't have 12 volts handy, maybe consider a battery pack tucked inside cabinet? Good luck 👍 Awesome improvement.

Have you weighed your truck to see what the true weight of this camper is. Our Arctic fox says 4300 pounds but they do not include the refrigerator batteries generator or propane or mattresses or cushions we estimate our fully loaded is over 6500 pounds. We have a 2008 Arctic fox 990 with the slide and all the other options available that year for sale. Best offer, we paid $23,000 in 2012.

My 2008 arctic fox 990 camper is for sale, best offer, make sure you get a big enough truck to hold 6000 pounds or more weight depending on the supplies you load it with. Mine needs some repair due to the roof and the front plastic Coming loose. As far as a livable space, it is awesomely, comfortable, and large with the slide out along with the queen size bed upfront.

Bumper to bumper on ours is 23 feet. Our truck is only rated at 12,000 pounds so this is just temporary as this set up would be 2 tons overweight. I have a 2008 model arctic fox 990 with a slide out. Paid $22,000 for it used. Got five or six years out of it with the kids when it was on my 2014 3500 mega cab Dooley with family we weighed 16,300 pounds. Our issue now is the rubber roof leaking and creating an issue with the wood underneath the rubber deteriorating. The whole roof will have to come off and repair the damage and new roof installed. Also, we noticed moisture coming into the passenger side closet in front. Water perhaps came in through the clearance lights, or the seam between the rubber roof and the front plastic, the plastic is coming loose on the front and the underneath a big bubble had formed as water was pulling up inside there we drilled a hole on the side underneath to drain the water. The plastic is all going to be removed on the front work curves around and underneath and damage repaired and reglued Estimating 3000 or more labor and materials. I’m not going to put this money into this vehicle so we just want to sell it at a discount and have whoever get the repairs done. Have a scale in your rig. I do like to carry a lot of stuff such as tools and chains and plenty of beer and ammo, these things are maintenance demanding as when the rubber roof fails with all the protrusion and caulking points you have a problem. We have also seen some of the older lances, the plastic dish, laminating, and bubbling on the sides luckily that has not happened to our shit.

I'm sorry to hear about your water intrusion issues. It seems these days no matter the quality build they're engineered to eventually fail. Sometimes regular maintenance and upkeep isn't enough. It's good you got some years of enjoyment out of it.
