interesting that you thought of Duran Duran! I've been watching through your arctic monkeys reactions, and in I bet that you look good on the dancefloor they refer to Duran Duran's song Rio. Arctic Monkeys: "Your name isn't Rio, but I don't care for sand", Duran Duran: "Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand"

The official version of "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" is one of their oldest recorded performances I think, from about 2006. It was on their debut album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not". I have their first 2 albums

Thanks Kyle. I'm amazed "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" is one of Arctic Monkeys' first songs. It's amazing. They are super talented.

Yes, Duran Duran referance is correct, great spot.

Wow! That was just the first thing that came into my mind when I heard it and I hoped I wouldn't come across as an imbecile.

@@stud105 Thanks. I like to get a feel for the music and then try and catch the lyrics. These cats have a really finesse way of saying stuff that needs a couple of listens just to get what they are saying. They're deep and intelligent with it.

A teddy picker is one of those arcade machines where you use a claw to try and get a teddy. They’re comparing that to the music industry, the new bands are the teddies and the claw is the executives who pick and choose who makes it. Btw you should do A Certain Romance next, the closing song of their first album

Thanks. I have never heard that term before and it makes so much more sense why they were talking about record companies picking and dropping artists. I think I actually played one of those teddy pickers at an arcade on the pier in Brighton years ago.

Arctic Monkeys started around 2003-2004 and this song is from their second album... so, definitely not their first song. It's not really known what their first song is. When they first starting performing, they recorded a bunch of songs at a studio and burned them onto CDs that were given away to fans that attended their live performances. Some fans uploaded these songs on MySpace and this was how they originally got popular. The very first official thing they released was an EP called "Five Minutes with Arctic Monkeys" that featured two songs. Those two songs would also go onto be featured on their debut album that came out in 2006.

Thank you so much for that info. You've given me so much to go on and I will look down that route. I literally typed Arctic Monkeys first song into the YT browser and Teddy Picker popped up! I should have known to ask and trust you guys if I need any real info and is why I'll always ask you guys in future. I hope you are enjoying my reactions. I'm loving listening to Arctic Monkeys.

There first song I heard was cigarette smoke, they used to play in the Broadway in sheffield in town. Earlyist original I can remember to date, they did alot of covers at first.
