In my opinion not a bad song on the album, and while I definitely think it's one you have to be in the mood or headspace for, compared to some of their other albums, it's a testament to Alex and the guys that they just do whatever the fuck they want. They've got more than enough credit in the bank to go a bit off kilter and left field.

oh man this reaction is such a great surprise!! the last few months i've been obsessed with arctic monkeys and i just recently discovered your channel... perfect timing!! have you guys checked out alex turner's other music with the last shadow puppets? if not, i really recommend "everything you've come to expect" :)

ahh i commented this before you guys mentioned them at the end of the video, great reaction!!!!! that story of u meeting alex turner is awesome, so lucky. i've seen/heard an interview or two where alex has said that this isn't their last album, even if it sounds like it. he even said it'll be a shorter wait this time around, which i'm super excited about. also i've heard another interview clip where alex said the same exact thing about the car being tranquility base hotel and casino if it was back on earth!

I’ve loved the Arctic Monkeys since the beginning but I think Tranquility and The Car is when they went from a good band to one of the great bands. I think 99/100 bands would’ve followed AM with attempts at copying “Do I Want to Know?” and more success. Alex Turner is that 1/100 who instead went all-in on a sci-fi concept album about feeling washed up and out of touch with the world. The Car to me is just doubling down on that belief, that even if you’re risking the future of the band and alienating your fans, you have to allow yourself to grow and age or you’re going to be stuck doing a greatest hits residency of songs you wrote when you were a teenager. Most bands are winding down at this point in their career. Arctic Monkeys are now in a place where it feels like they’re just getting started.
