People need to understand even on the Maine coast it's difficult to have an all snow storm with an amped up low. As soon as a Southeast wind blows it doesn't matter if you had cold weather for a month it's turning to sleet. So to forecast all snow anywhere on the east coast is a nightmare and you gotta give your local weather personal that much credit when they nail it. 😆😊

I definitely understand what you mean Mitch about keeping the blues suppressed for much closer to the day of the storm. This is because we want the snow track to stay further south right up to before the storm so the ice or even worse the rain below does not go too far north to make it in our neck of the woods. So we stay in 100% pures snow. Maybe even with higher snow totals! This is my take as well! God Bless!

Mitch back in the nineties me and my brother went up to roan mountain it's sleeted from our house in the foothills all the way up to the top of roan mountain we hiked up on the top from Carver's Gap to the top of roan mountain that day solid sleet on the way back home temperatures were in the low twenties that day nothing but sleet that day back in the 60s 70s 80s and up to the 90s we had a lot of pure snow storms 65 years old I remember every storm since I was 8 years old my mind is like a computer let it snow let it snow

By the way, the Arctic stuff thats on the way is coming from Siberia. So in this case, its called the Siberia Express which is basically saying very cold frigid air will move from eastern Russia into parts of the North American continent (Canada & US more specifically) Also this morning (Jan. 14) it was showing like 47 for a high for my area & now its gone down to 33 & so now im scared 🥶🥶🥶

Yep, you were right. The GFS 06z run now has that storm around the 21st headed more north well into TN, KY and than eastward into the Carolinas. Much more developed and farther north than last night's midnight run. Huge potential for a big snow maker.

When you get an amped up low pressure with the warm sector riding up over really entrenched dry cold like that, it leads to sleet. Hopefully all 3 levels stay cold and we would all get snow. Sleet wnd freezing rain are nothing to play with.
