This is the kneel jump, a traditional Arctic Sport of the Inuit. Before the competition began, the Qilaatersortartut drum dancers played an opening ceremony for the athletes. The video includes some of that, great video of competitors jumping while an official explains the origin of the game (it was designed to build the ability to jump away from predators while kneeling down butchering meat), and then an interview with an athlete from Inuvik, NWT.
